There’s some truth in what you say. I hope he realises there’s other ways to play if necessary but if we have the right players I don’t believe it’s impossible to escape playing any style you want.
No, not impossible but to do so you'd still have to have a bit of something about you otherwise you'll not get anywhere trying to play like that.

You'd not be able your current low level of physicality and play tippy tappy, though. You'll end up like Orient under Davis at the beginning of this season.

Probably the most important thing that Chesterfield need to pack with them to hell is their Football League Brotherhood membership. This is given to all former 'proper' football clubs who have spent the main part of their history as an established football league club. Reformed former FL sides and teams relegated here more than once also do not qualify for this exclusive package.

Now you may ask, 'what's in it for my club?' Well, you get respect and sympathy from proper club supporters when you get dicked at home by a team you'd never heard of or previously thought were an insurance company. Previous animosities are put aside and you are referred to in fond terms when discussing memories of FL games in times gone by. The clubs meet before real games and fix the results in an attempt to put the natural order errr in order. There are many other benefits which I'm sure Master D (who's been brotherhood president for more than 10 years) can outline. 10 years service qualifies for lifelong membership. If you get promoted, you hand back your membership card.

The procedure is easy. Simply print off this card and hand it in to the nearest Vanarama dealer at the conclusion of the season.

Nice try pal, but as the founder of the concept and chairman of the Brotherhood of Great and Historic Football League Clubs, I make the rules, nobody else. The rules are, and always have been clear- membership comprises those clubs who were IN the Football League in 1986, reformed, refounded or not. Thus Halifax, Chester, Hereford and Darlington ARE members, despite the best efforts of several chairmen to kill the clubs off. Those are the rules, there are NO appeals.:bdick:

Did we get one for 5 years?

A lot of what's said is true though, when you actually become that crap and mentally through with it all, it's actually half enjoyable, though we were fortunate enough to get out when we did.

Used to love our annual trips to Tamworth, barrow and Gateshead - though annoyingly the latter always seemed to be on a Tuesday.

Do you still play about 28 Tuesday night matches once postponements and the fa trophy have played their part?

That counts us IN then... so either way, Master D and, for once, BJFT2, are both correct. (bananathing)

Woohoo!

That’s where he has gone wrong. Hampered by injuries and hamstrung with the budget he’s ended up with a real mess of a squad. He’s made mistakes alright but I don’t think even he realised how fast we were sinking when he arrived.

It shouldn’t be a ‘thing’ but an ingrained losing mentality from three years of decline has proved impossible to shake off.

It's a shame that Alfreton have fallen a division. That was always a good little derby for us Staggies.

Aye, we had them for the double header derby over Xmas and new year didn't we?

If you're in our neck of the woods the division is really southern, guessing we'd be paired up with Halifax (guessing Chesterfield would do if they came down)

I'd rather have Salford. Or Stockport if they come up.

Not at all. We were terrible. Belted it down all game. Who'd have thought we'd have won 22 out of 27 games after that loss...

Not many. That was an unreal race with you and Kiddy

In terms of Alfreton/Stags

The 6-3 FA Trophy game sticks in my mind too. Barmy game.

That wasn't the fa trophy, that was the league before, when we finished in the playoffs. In the trophy we drew 1-1 at ours and won 2-1 at yours in the replay

What even is the FA Trophy? Who can take part? Do we get to play in the Fa Vase yet?

Imagine the checkatrade, even more pointless - but just with sides you've never heard of, and takes place on Saturdays and takes priority over the league.

And if you play the 27 games required to reach the Wembley final against Ragbag Rovers you make about £45 profit for the entire cup run. First rule of new recruits to the Brotherhood, go out of the Trophy ASAP.

Who remembers that Shield thing they used to do down here? It was basically a poor man's FA Trophy. Nobody? Just me? FFS.

I remember losing in our first ever game in the fa trophy. You may remember it.

The prestigious SETANTA SHIELD as proudly paraded by Telford after a thrilling 0-0 draw and penalty shootout win over Forest Green in 2009. It's clearly an actual shield that has been used previously in battle.

So Master D and B2TF, are we including Darlo, Chester and FC Tinpotfax in the Brotherhood? What about Hereford? Vote given to the members?

I feel it's in the wider public's interest to get a conclusive answer on this.

Surely the god the FA trophy is now a case of Extra time/pens if you draw the first game and not still going to a replay? Notice the final is played on the same day as the FA Vase now too.

I remember the Setanta Shield. I am sure one season around 2008-2009 we played York what seemed about six times in one season. Or maybe that's what it felt like after playing them in the league and the Setanta Shield. How prestigious!
