Depending on what happens through the summer with or board and finances I’m fairly sure we will be playing down here next season for the first time in the history of Chesterfield FC.
We won’t be up there despite probably having the best ground and fairly decent support because we’re an absolute shambles on and off the pitch.
We will come down with some absolute rubbish on the wage bill on 2 year deals on ridiculous wages who after this season should never be allowed to pull on the blue shirt again.
As for the board, the debt to our now resigned chairman Dave Allen is 9.2m and counting. He keeps loaning us money to keep going each month, slapping interest on top and he’s laughing.
He’s also separated the ground from the club which he owns, as well as the conference and banquet in facilities which do turn a good profit thanks to how good the new ground is for the town.
Basically means our income is from transfers (we have no saleable assets) and crowds (gates dropped from 8/9/10k to around 5.5k this season and will be 3k tops next season. We will lose 75% of ST losers due to boycotts against the board too, I suspect we will sell about 1500 v 4200 odd this season.
If the board sell up (doubtful as the asking price is £10m) and prices reflect the division we are in them we may sell double that.
Certainly a rocky road ahead for us and will be a scary summer for the future of football in the town.
Some fall from grace from the league 1 play offs and verge of the championship to non league in 3 seasons, very similar to Leyton Orient.
No idea what to expect or even exactly where places like Boreham Wood, Bromley and Ebbsfleet are but I guess it will be an adventure
