Depending on what happens through the summer with or board and finances I’m fairly sure we will be playing down here next season for the first time in the history of Chesterfield FC.

We won’t be up there despite probably having the best ground and fairly decent support because we’re an absolute shambles on and off the pitch.

We will come down with some absolute rubbish on the wage bill on 2 year deals on ridiculous wages who after this season should never be allowed to pull on the blue shirt again.

As for the board, the debt to our now resigned chairman Dave Allen is 9.2m and counting. He keeps loaning us money to keep going each month, slapping interest on top and he’s laughing.

He’s also separated the ground from the club which he owns, as well as the conference and banquet in facilities which do turn a good profit thanks to how good the new ground is for the town.

Basically means our income is from transfers (we have no saleable assets) and crowds (gates dropped from 8/9/10k to around 5.5k this season and will be 3k tops next season. We will lose 75% of ST losers due to boycotts against the board too, I suspect we will sell about 1500 v 4200 odd this season.

If the board sell up (doubtful as the asking price is £10m) and prices reflect the division we are in them we may sell double that.

Certainly a rocky road ahead for us and will be a scary summer for the future of football in the town.

Some fall from grace from the league 1 play offs and verge of the championship to non league in 3 seasons, very similar to Leyton Orient.

No idea what to expect or even exactly where places like Boreham Wood, Bromley and Ebbsfleet are but I guess it will be an adventure

Gutted to see Spiretes in the position they are. Shocking miss management at the top level have left you in an almighty mess. Its sad to see.

Going to be a massive shock to the whole club dropping in to the Conference. Not sure if I was a Chesterfield fan I would have faith in the current board to make the right decisions.

The best way to get out of this league quickly is to get somebody in who knows the league and what is required to get results at this level. Not sure Sir Jack is that man unfortunately.

Mate its harder down here then you even imagine, there is such a contrast in teams, you have good footballing sides like us and aldershot ( yesterday was a tactical one off disaster by the wadfather i think) , cloggers like dover who kick everything that moves and lots of teams that come to stop you playing hoping for a nil niller or to grab one on the break .

The grounds and supporters down here are amazing compared to the league , genuine freindly supporters who understand the game and will have a chat in the ground or pub, i believe guiseley steve even takes his dog the ground.. unsegregated grounds are a bonus too however the odd supporters will see you as a challenge like a group of 16 year olds at sutton abusing us then complained to the police when it looked like getting physical .

It will all come home to roost on a night in autumn when you get beat by dartford or gateshead : you leave the ground listening to their 400 supporters celebrating like they have won the champions league whilst you are full of anomie wondering just how did we get here?? ( and i didnt mention chester) .

The final thing you will notice is your empty away end local ex lwague teams will bring over 1000 like wrexham or chester do to our place however its not unusual to see less then 20 in the away end for a midweek match.

Enjoy it for what it is mate, you are here and theres only one way to change that... enjoy the new experiences whilst you can... i look at nat north and south tables to see who may come up if we dint go up.

One thing you did get wrong mate is your ground if we dont go up you will have the second best ground in the league... lol sorry mate.

Welcome anyway

Indeed. Sorry to see a decent club like Chesterfield coming down though. I would much rather it was the village lot.

The NL will be a nightmare next season with potentially ourselves, a revitalised Orient, Chesterfield, Barnet under Allen and the hobby clubs like Salford, Fylde and Ebbsfleet. Very competitive.

Wrexham will definitely still be here unlike Tranmere who have got a great chance of escaping. I still have a sneaky feeling fylde will go up boosted by a last day win against us.

Sorry to see this happen to Chesterfield, a similar fall from grace to ourselves due to poor ownership.

If your board have any sense, they'll try and get a manager in who knows this league. Steve Watson is out of contract at Gateshead and would be a good option IMO.

We failed to win for three months from September-December because Steve Davis tried to out pass and score teams down here, it simply doesn't work like that, most teams down here work on being organised and tough to beat and play on the break with quick nippy players due to lack of technical ability - It is the 5th tier afterall. Just because you're one the biggest clubs doesn't mean the smaller clubs will just roll over because the team they have is technically inferior.

Agree with this a lot, Craig Harrison tried to make us play this tippy tappy shite from the off, looks nice when you're bopping it around your own half but totally ineffective against sides who'll sit back with 10 men behind the ball for most of the match waiting to hit you on the counter.

Get yourselves two chunky centre backs who just head and kick, two nippy wide men, a fat lump up top alongside a pacy striker job done.

Oh, the one thing that has been the biggest culture shock of all coming down here for me anyway, isn't the quality of football, the grounds or the supporters of any of the clubs.........its the standard of the referees.

You'll need to accept quickly that one big clusterfuck of a decision is going to go against you in the season.

Alot of the refs and linesman down here are just plain crap, I don't think I've seen a decent one this season.

Welcome, one of my favourite away days Chesterfield, but sounds like your in a mess, don't expect an easy ride.
The odd good team down here, but most are awful, including us.
The gamesmanship down here is ridiculous & will have you pulling your hair out out, which goes unpunished by refs who seemed pissed

You’ll have your hopes built up by beating one of the half decent sides, Aldershot, Fylde etc.. before losing away at somewhere like Boreham Wood or Dartford. Enjoy.

Id like to think we’d be rivatalised after dropping out the FL and clearing out all of the scum that have attached themselves to the club in varying capacities but I’ve no faith in the current board. In fact with them in charge we could well be contenders for a 3rd successive relegation.

Rumours of takeovers have gone quiet, the asking price from Allen and the fact he lets his bent CEO Ashley Carson meddle in everything suggests we could well have a rocky summer. The fear is Allen cuts his losses puts us into Admin and the club goes to the wall. However it’s anyone’s guess what will happen and what the current birds end game is.

I certainly don’t expect we will come down here and walk the league.

Their has been scandal after scandal off the pitch which have made national news and meant we are still under investigation by the FA and FL anyway, not sure what the outcomes of these investigations will be but the total mismanagement of the club from top to bottom will come back to bite a few people hopefully.

Tranmere fans... Chesterfield have lost at Dartford before - to us, but whatever.

Looks like we'll be here next year, so enjoy the plastic pitch and feel free to whine and bitch about it as much as everyone else - despite taking the points home like everyone else...

cloggers like dover who kick everything that moves :gr:

Best disciplinary record in the league we have :2thumb:
If your next response is that we're good at it - then that's poor

I think it's more a testament to how bad the referees are here ;)

That's a complete fallacy tbf, Aldershot have played some really smexi stuff, as have Tranmere. Our problem was that we had completely the wrong players - the idea of Josh Coulson or Jake Caprice trying to pass accurately beyond three yards amuses me. Also I think it was a bit exaggerated that we tried to play passing football, everything about it was wrong. Our recruitment was poor for the style we wanted to play, quite simply.

The Chesterfield lads will have an 'oh shit' moment for sure, everyone does. This was ours http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40858600

The standard in this league is terrible!! When teams like us can only win 3 games in 26 and still stay up you know its bad.

Between how has Hines got on for you?? does he still throw his toys out the pram when he doesnt get the ball, constantly mouth off at the ref, dive alot, not track back & look totally uninterested??
