The Greece goal will remain with me forever. He's scored so many free-kicks of that quality but the occasion was just so intense. A month after destroying Germany in Munich England were very close to actually finishing 2nd. Play-offs wouldn't have been the end of the world but losing at home to Greece would have left a sour taste. England were quite ineffective in that game and Beckham was the only one playing his heart out. Oh Sheringham did score with his first touch which was pretty cool but that free-kick depicts to perfection what it was like to watch Beckham play for England.

Not a great fan of Bale's. He's pretty good yeah.

Always had a lot of time for Beckham. Managed to become a global brand without losing his head somewhere up his own ass. Always comes across as a top bloke. And, obviously, great footballer too and an England legend, for moments like that Greece goal.

Had him and Bale on my list, I believe. Bale would have probably finished higher if he hadn't fucked off to Madrid. Hell, same could possibly be said about Beckham actually.

Yeah, that free-kick against Greece is my all time 2nd favourite football moment. Absolutely stunning, I was only 7 and it is one of my earliest memories of watching England. I remember there was about 25 people at my Grandparents' house and it just erupted when it hit the net. Amazing.

Nah I meant I was surprised he went to the game when he was 7, the "94" in his name is a decent clue to his age :)
I think he meant he watched that at his Gran's...

Beckham was on my list. Really surprised he's not in the top ten. Expected Bale to at least get close to the top ten as well.

I've had a season ticket since '98 :D

95 for me (at 10 yrs old). Took my dad a long while to get me interested. Two trips to the old Wembley did nothing, but a 1-1 draw v Grimsby did somehow.

I'm pretty sure that Cod put a spell on you that day. His fault.

Really enjoyed that Le Tissier video. Loads of pre-Prem goals I'd never seen before. Great player.

Le Tiss is a player who I'd love to see a video compilation of 'almost goals' from, in a way that I don't think many others could match.

You also couldn't better encapsulate that modern juxtaposition of loyalty and ambition.

No matter what that guy does for the rest of his career, he's always going to be remembered for that one defining moment when he scored against QPR. Up there with anything I've ever seen, and likely will see, in terms of football being at it's dramatic best.

I'll always have a soft spot for him though. He's one of those guys who I found on FM fucking years before I'd even heard of him in real life and then he turned out to actually be great in reality too.
