Brilliant, balanced post.

Unusually I fancy our chances so
Top 6
Exeter (obviously)
Sheff Wed
Ipswich
Bolton
Peterborough
Oxford or Plymouth

Really can't make my mind up on Derby

No idea on Bottom 4.
I agree completely, in fact, can I also say that Exeter will obviously win the FA Cup, League cup and any other cup competition, as a team that came straight up from League one, with no present signings, must be favourites, as League One is such an easy league to get out of.

Now from a serious perspective, I don't see Peterborough in that Top 6. I'll put Derby in there BUT, I am not convinced that a team put together in their current situation, will click until later in the season.

Bottom 4:
Morecambe
Fleetwood
Forest Green
Burton

Much as I'm frustrated by our lack of signings, there's still a week to go until the start of the season and five weeks until the transfer deadline.
We will definitely sign players and they will only add to our quality.
As we've kept all of our quality from last season (minus the gk) I am confident in saying that we will definitely stay up and have an outside chance of top half.
But I don't know enough about league one to know how others will do, so I will chicken out of a prediction. It will be a heck of a ride though.

We have come up twice in the past few years and I think that there are at least two main differences between Leagues 1 and 2. First, the quality of strikers, it seems that they are more likely to take their chances than those in League 2. Second, the level of what some might refer to as game management or nouse, that others may call cheating or the dark arts, goes up a level.

I also wonder if there has been the development of a third trend, namely the existence in some teams of players who have played comfortably in the Championship and above, and probably could still play there. Some of these players such as Bannon, Morsy and I would now add Hourihane are quite a level above what you would have seen in League 2.

That said, I do not really expect you to be troubling relegation. You will have a good first eleven, the issue is how deep your overall squad is once injuries and bans kick in.

The five sub rule will help the bigger clubs this season which is bollocks
Absolutely agree, Exeter will be one of several clubs likely to be at a disadvantage unless their youngsters come on leaps and bounds

The five sub rule is a great rule.......Each team in lge1 will have no trouble filling those spots.
Ends the stupidity of teams ending games with 9/10 men and multiple muscle injuries

When has that ever happened??

Is it 5 occasions too? I can see certain teams making substitutions in the 80th, 83rd, 86th, 89th and 93rd minutes...

No it isn’t, can make 5 subs but it’s got to be in 3 intervals max.

So i have had a couple of laughing alarmed faces/comments about league 1 teams not being able to fill the bench.
Are your teams really that tinpot that this cannot be done.

We currently have 5 places left in our 25 man squad yet yesterday we filled the bench and had three first team players who are coming back from injury not included.

We don't all have your resources. Of course we can fill the bench, the point is whether we would want to bring on a 17 year old with no experience to get battered.

Agreed. We are probably a bit better off financially than you but I know we had at least one (and possibly more) league game where we had a 15 and a 16 year old on the bench. Indeed, our 15 year old (who had already played in a cup game) was picked to travel to Ipswich at the end of the season when we were fighting for points, and his school refused permission and insisted he stay in Plymouth and sit a mock exam. Mind you if we can keep the 15 year old and get him to sign up at 17, we will have one hell of a player on our hands.

Interesting sides for me this season are Accrington, Cheltenham and Cambridge for no other reason than last season they conceded 80, 74 and 80 respectively and I don't think that kind of defence is sustainable for that mid-table pack again because that's a serious amount of goals conceded. I'd be lying if I said I'm completely up to date with everyone's ins and outs, it seems to have been relatively quiet so far.

Defence is our biggest concern. We've lost Will Boyle and Mattie Pollock, who were imperious in the air. But they were also slow and not the greatest on the ball. We've brought in Caleb Taylor (who Baggies fans think should be in their matchday squad) and Tom Bradbury (stepping up two divisions). Are they better than what we've let go? It remains to be seen.

Luke Southwood has to be an upgrade in goal on Owen Evans though (who I rated, but is seen by a lot of Town fans as a poor keeper).

18th for Cambridge, defence looks a bit shaky and I expect us to lose one of our strikers (probably Sam Smith) in one of the transfer windows this season that will ensure we're a bit closer to the drop zone than we ended up last time, but Bonner should be able to keep us up with a couple of games to spare.

Table is of teams nominated by members for a top spot or relegation.

Some of the predictions were posted by members with their 'tongue in cheek' but all the same it does gives a fairly representative view.

I've got us down as 18th, by the way.

Appreciating your input on the league one forum. Great addition to the forum for the season ahead

Looks like a successful season ahead for the Glos clubs then...

I took info just from the lists supplied.
Didn't bother with the attached blurb, which might slightly change positions. In other words the table is not 100% perfect but close enough to be reasonable accurate.
BTW your post today at 8.40am did not offer Lincoln on either list. I think that they will be closer to top six than relegation although perhaps not in an auto-promotion spot.

Why are Burton widely tipped to go down. I would have thought they were a decent mid-table team.
