I saw something online last night that compared him to Luis Suarez. They've got a point. Liverpool were never going to sack him for what he did there, and the BBC aren't going to sack Clarkson. Both are / were far too valuable to their employers.

But if Clarkson doesn't sign a new contract, they can't sack him as he won't be working for them.

May is the best on that show, followed by Jezza. Hamster is an annoying little cnut though, I suppose he's there for the female viewers, all looks and no substance.

Your first name isn't Lachlan is it? Only one comment on that page went "I'll like this page when he starts voting SNP."

It really is PC gone mad when you can't whack a fellow employee without fear of sanction! Let's face it, with his disciplinary record he'd have been out the door long ago in any other vocation. But the BBC can't win - he has a sufficient number of detractors and admirers to ensure that they're damned either way, whatever course of action they pursue.

To be frank, the appeal of this programme has always eluded me. I'd be inclined to put it down to an indifference about motor vehicles, only Top Gear has rarely seemed to be a show about cars. It's more of a stage for three blokey blokes to engage in some fairly wearisome, scripted BANTZ. And I'm afraid that I must concede that Clarkson's far from the worst offender on this front - he's boorish and faintly awful but he can amuse and he's an accomplished broadcaster. No, it's Hammond who's the primary irritant. What exactly is his purpose? May's fairly genial, Clarkson's CIarkson, him... ? I really don't get it.

I think though, ultimately, we need to focus on what is important, and to that end I'd like to declare that I bloody love a good FRACAS. Great word.

I've never enjoyed it either, Hammond and Clarkson are two of the most unlikeable tossers on TV. May always seemed alright, slightly out of place next to those two.

Seen a petition calling for Guy Martin to replace Clarkson. Now that is something I'd be up for. Not sure it would work though.

If Top Gear was to end and the BBC to create a new motoring show then Guy Martin would be brilliant but I couldn't see him as the main man on a magazine type show, more as a feature presenter.

I can't believe people get so bothered about Clarkson.

I don't watch Top Gear, I do like the specials though.

Top Gear has needed rebranding for a while now, the bantz stale and the format has been recycled to death. Still, gonna feel a little sad when it does come to an end. Been an on & off viewer since my balls dropped.

Guy would be great, but the London suits won't have him as they wouldn't understand a word he says. This year is his last in motorbiking did you hear? He's going back to his trucks and doing the endurance cycling races across the UK. He probably wouldn't want to do Top Gear anyway.

Guy or Mike Brewer would be adequate replacements.

Anyone watch The Classic Car Show on Channel 5? The painfully dull banter between Wilson and Kidd is excruciating to watch, so I fast-forward through that and Wilson seems to want to slip off his chair at every moment. However some of the car segments are pretty good, and the classic cars on it have been lovely. It's worth a watch.

Opposing the pedestrianisation of Norwich city centre!!!!
Although over half a million fuckwits have signed this petition to re-instate Clarkson I think what will be an important factor is the BBCs obligation to licence payers. I'd imagine there are more people who pay their licence who don't want the BBC to continue employing a man who exhibits casual sexism and racism and who assaults co-workers.

I don't think Clarkson gives a fuck either way and why would he, he's a very rich child in a man's body.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
I wonder if Lee Henman regrets wasting a few precious moments of his time in this life on that?

Looking increasingly likely that Clarkson is going to be given the boot.

I hope so, if only to piss off Guido and other selected wankers (who clearly need to get a fucking grip if that tank stunt is anything to go by)

I might make that the primary consideration in all future decisions that I have to make about anything.

BBC confirm Clarkson has been sacked.

I saw an interview with Frankie Boyle where he questions if the BBC have the rights to Top Gear without Clarkson. If they don't it's little wonder they have deliberated so long given the amount of money they make from it.

Jeremy Clarkson's contract will not be renewed after an "unprovoked physical attack" on a Top Gear producer, the BBC's director general has confirmed.

Tony Hall said he had "not taken this decision lightly" and recognised it would "divide opinion".

However, he added "a line has been crossed" and he "cannot condone what has happened on this occasion".

Clarkson was suspended on 10 March, following what was called a "fracas" with Top Gear producer Oisin Tymon.

The row, which took place in a Yorkshire hotel, was said to have occurred because no hot food was provided for him following a day's filming.

Definitely run its course now, the banter between the three of them made it popular, but let's be honest it's been pretty shite for the last few years.

Stopped watching a few years thanks to Dave. Still thought it was a quality show but I'd had my fill. Feel bad for the show's fans, it isn't a show without Clarkson. That said, the BBC made the only call they could. Clarkson has got away with loads over the years, he probably thought he was untouchable and this time he went too far.
