Coutinho must really like Neymar because most of Barca's key players are on the wrong side of 30, and they don't have the financial muscle to replace them (i.e. five world class players in the coming 3-4 seasons). That's an outlay of a good 600-700 million ish if they want to stay at the level they've been at. And no matter how much they like to hype La Masia, golden generations happen once every 30 years. I genuinely can't see how Barca have anywhere to go but down from here. They might win another couple of titles while Messi is still head and shoulders above the rest of the world, but even he will decline well within Coutinho's prime.

Just the next move in a dance that will either lead to him being a Liverpool player by the time the window shuts or not. Either way it's not a massive deal. I suspect that, despite all their protests to the contrary and claims that they don't want to sell, Southampton are doing what is in their interest which they're of course perfectly entitled to do, namely attempting to entice an offer of even more ludicrous amounts for him. Personally, I'm hoping we don't bite as I believe we've already tabled more than he's worth.
