I don't know if worried is the right word. Of course I concede the possibility. But I've seen countless of players we'd rather keep leave and there's a very clear trajectory that this one hasn't followed so far. Also, we have a shitload of money we can't seem to spend. There's no upside for us in selling him until he hands in a transfer request, although the mind readers of 1FF seem confident he will.

I agree with you but things could conceivably change if a) Coutinho hands in a transfer request (doesn't seem the type) or b) Barca submit an offer that your board/owners deem too good to refuse (not sure if they will do that, I can't see them offering much more than they are now).

The owners are holding out for the right amount. They know Barcelona are £200m better off than they were a few weeks back, it would be stupid to not take advantage of that. If Barcelona back out now, then both Liverpool and Coutinho himself will know they didn't want to go the extra mile to get him.

I obviously hope he isn't sold. But that is very much on the proviso that he wants to stay. I don't think we should be turning down £100m bids for players that don't want to be here, no matter how good or important they are.

He hasn't "done a runner" but was absent at the training without excuse (but was apparently in Dortmund and not in Paris (his girlfriend) or Barcelona) Anyway he's now suspended (as if that helps. Yeah I've been thinking something similar for a while now, but thought there would be more chance of him moving there when Neymar was around. Can see him being an Iniesta replacement after this year; but we aren't ready to sell him yet as we don't have someone in, or targeted yet to replace Coutinho, which is why it was always going to be a longshot of him moving this window.

No, but he did refuse to play pre-season matches and is still training on his own despite being told he's not for sale.

The defense isn't as bad as people make out, and when they want to defend, they can do so; however that's not to say a player like VVD coming in wouldn't significantly solidify things more.
