You'd think, given this is the longest transfer in history, that we'd be fully aware of all ramifications. Perhaps the same day rule only applies when transferring from another club, which he hasn't. He's not been a Sporting player since the summer.

Liverpool are after a goalkeeper from Roma, which is baffling because Mignolet is so good.

It's all pish they are not getting a new keeper in for January. Why would they it would only upset things with the keepers there currently.

Why would you care if you get a decent keeper out of it?

Karius has been getting more games recently why would Klopp do that if he was bringing in a new superstar keeper (who btw) in January it doesn't make sense.

After VVD has signed I don't see us now making any other major signings this window, the last few seasons there has been virtually none coming in so I don't see that changing.

Presumably to have a keeper of a quality that matches our long term ambition.

Karius is fucking woeful, I've rarely seen a keeper with so little confidence and quality on the ball and the distribution of it. If Klopp actually believes he has what it takes then I seriously question his judgement or wonder if he's prepared to let his stubbornness get in the way of what is best for the club.

But......

If you're talking about Alisson (you are) he was mooted as Brazils future no.1 and the best Brazilian keeper about, a lot was expected of his move to Roma. However hes been kept out of the side by Sczcesny until he went to Juve, so that might have a baring on peoples opinion given the Pole wasnt exactly seen as a top level keeper in his time at Arsenal, though his stint in Serie A was much improved to the point he's now Buffons successor (unless they just use hi as cover til the legend retires and then go for someone like Donnarumma).
Difficult to tell how Alisson would do, hes played more times for Brazil in the last few years than he has for Roma.
Ederson should have taken the no.1 mantle from him though for Brazil.

Don't think it will be long before Ederson dislodge the Buffons and Neuers as best goalkeeper in the world (not that there's much competition).

He'll have to dislodge de Gea first.
I don't think theres much in it tbh. Except for Edersons 2 charges off his line this season, one gifting Shaktar a goal.
His distribution is on another level to anyone else.

After the Tosun deals done apparently Besiktas want to make us an offer for Slimbob squarepants.
So 3 way tussle between the Turks, Newcastle and Watford with nobody offering over 12mill I'll guess.

Barkley and Carroll are supposed to be Chelsea targets. I believe Barkley, but surely they're not after Carroll.

Carroll is colossally underrated - perhaps one of the most effective strikers of his type in world football - if they think they can keep him fit he'd chew up the league in a team containing Hazard & Willian.

I wonder how much of that is add-ons.

About 30-40 mil imo. IIRC only reason we didn't agree in summer was because the addons were unrealistic (i.e. winning BallonDor). Now its probably appearances/goals etc.

Ok the comedy is over, the deal is done. We move on. There will be a plan in place without a doubt or the move wouldn't have been sanctioned. Think on it this way; it now gives Klopp a real chance to shape the side the way he wants to. He'll get someone boss in and we'll kick on without a doubt. He worked under worse conditions at Dortmund and Bayern nicking his players, he'll be fine with this too. We won't be the weaker for this in the long run, let's not get into paroxysm's of emotion over this transfer.

I'm not too down on this transfer JJ I have to be honest. It was coming and I see the side going places with or without Coutinho. As I said, I trust Klopp and co to have a plan, and this gives him the opportunity to reshape the midfield which I think he's been meaning to do for a while. I think we have enough to meet our aims this season without him and we'll strengthen in the summer further. I've followed far far worse Liverpool sides than this; we are in a good place and with a few quality additions I think we can make a great go of it next year. :)

Hearing we have contacted Leceicter about Mahrez. Probably bollocks but if true they would want more than he's worth, especially if they know we have cash on the hip following the Coutinho moving. I would hope we wouldn't be held to ransom.

Wouldn't mind Mahrez tbh, he's quality. I know JJ is a big Lanzini fan too, but I personally think Mahrez has a lot more about him and he is looking for a new challenge too.

The problem with Mahrez is that they'd want something stupid like £60m for him, simply because they know we have the money.

I thought they were willing to let him go for 40 mill? Can't see us forking out another 50% on top of that tbh for him.
