Laporte to City done

Free transfer with Laporte being paid the maximum wage of 3 pounds and 5 shillings a week.

Good to see City keeping the history and values of football alive and well.

Yet Utd pay about 100 mill to agents the last few years...

I believe Scruff is referring to the competing narratives that have come out of the media since Pep and City really started flying this season, how the massive amounts of money being spent by both clubs is being reported very differently - rather than trying to paint United as prudent spenders.

If that's what you think then fine, it just seemed a tad hypocritical imo.

Mahrez.... niiiiiiiceeeee

He's a very good player who wouldn't expect to start every game, which is important with the quality you have in attacking areas, I would have liked him at United but Sanchez came along.

So if City sign Mahrez, what will Pep "not at all a chequebook manager" Guardiola's spend have been since his arrival 2 years back? It stands at around £300m right now, doesn't it?

Fuck off Man City.
Our best player with 1 day of the window. Offer 100mill or go fuck yourselves.

Offering less than you just paid for a fucking defender.

I hope Leicester really do tell City to fuck themselves, regardless of the transfer request. How long is Mahrez's contract?

Will have been renewed after we won the league, so a few years yet.

So instead of bringing in one of their world class players for the injured Sane, they want to pluck Mahrez from Leicester - I agree JimJams, FUCK CITY!

This is like when you fiddle the editor on FM - if I were a Citeh fan I'd find it very hard to take proper pride in their success' moving forwards.

What's happening with FFP? Are some nations having to comply but not British teams?

I heard today on a podcast that Pogba's agent received four times as much as Neymar's in their respective deals.

Also in the same conversation, Mahrez's agent only has a few clients and they're all French lower league players. The theory was that he lacks the contacts to get big deals over the line, but since Mahrez is his only opportunity for a big pay day he is liable to trying to conduct the business on his own to keep the whole agents fee as well.

That was speculative and also before the Man City bid, so it isn't really any more than interesting conjecture.

That was because Raiola co-owned a sizable percentage of Pogba's contract with Juventus. He was paid €27 million from Juventus out of the €105 million United gave them.

20+ - Riyad Mahrez (31 goals, 21 assists) is one of only three players to have scored 20+ goals and assisted 20+ more in the Premier League since August 2015, alongside Dele Alli & Christian Eriksen. Admired.

So stop lowballing us you fucks.

That sounds like a pretty foolish thing for Vincent to plan, given his injury record.

I read UEFA are trying to push through a new version to limit spending but not sure if that will happen once the big teams get their say.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.

City tried to bring in Sanchez in the summer and again in January, so it’s not like having another attack minded player joining the club is some sort of knee jerk reaction. There might be an element of pragmatism to it with Sane being out for a pretty crucial period and with City still fighting on four fronts at the moment, but it was always on the cards that someone ‘attacking midfieldish’ was going to come in and it feels like this is just doing something which may have happened in the summer a few months earlier.

I don’t understand any of the angst over Laporte, though. He was another long term target and after missing out in the summer the plan was clearly to hope that either Kompany’s long term injury problems were over or that Mangala would step up. As sadly neither of those planned out, it makes sense to get someone in who had already been previously well scouted and judged to be a good fit.

Samir Nasri has just been released. Shame he burned his bridges with Pepe. Would have been a cheap midfield replacement. But perhaps Leicester might want to jump in.

If we don't attempt to sign him on until the end of the season we're mad. Apparently we were in for Schurlle but it's off due to injury. Markovic seems to be slowing. Andy King on loan haha.

Looks like we're done in the transfer market.

Another underwhelming window from Saints. Really needed some pace and a CB to replace VvD.

Terrible window considering we’ve clearly missed out on both Walcott and Promes through dawdling, sit second from bottom in the league and have a clueless man in charge, who simply is not learning judging from Saturday’s Boufal/Yoshida substitution with over 20 minutes left.

Ah well, see what tonight against Brighton brings.
