Samir Nasri has just been released. Shame he burned his bridges with Pepe. Would have been a cheap midfield replacement. But perhaps Leicester might want to jump in.
He'd neither want to, nor be welcome.

Plus he's overweight and unfit now, hence being released.

If City manage to convince Leicester to sell Mahrez today, that'd be half a billion quid spent by Pep in a year and a half. What a superb manager and that.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Deal off by the sound of it. Sky saying that Leicester wanted £95m and City told them that off they could fuck.

They're making a principled stand. Stop being so cynical.

Why doesn't he give the youth a chance? Y'know, like he, and the higher ups, so passionately talked about. Could it be because he is and always has been a chequebook manager? Would love some input on this subject from my good mate Pags mate.

Dur! It's because he's worried their dainty, young physiques will get injured. It makes far more sense to pay hundreds of millions for real men.

Managers wouldn't normally be that considerate. He doesn't get enough credit methinks.

Hypocrite, cheque book manager, yawn yawn yawn.....

Shame about the Mahrez deal was genuinley looking forward to seeing him in the sky blue of City.

It's a chance now for the youth lads to step up and give Pep food thought particularly in the absence of Jesus and Sane.

Mitrovic no longer leaving which presumably means Slimani isn't coming to Newcastle. Not to worry, Joselu starts tonight!

Wouldn't he need to play them?

Zinchenko?

Adarabioyo and Diaz all in and around the first team. (Foden before his injury)

Admittedly Pep isn't the best but certainly not the worst either at giving the youth lads a chance around the first team.

City made an enquiry. Leicester named the price. City walked away.

Leicester Mercury reporting that the Mahrez offer was actually £50mill plus a player that Man City value at £15mill. We wanted £80mill cash.
No wonder we didn't take it. No players at Citeh are worth £15mill. They're either way way over that, or less than half. What's a Zinchenko or Diaz worth? Fook all.

So Silks it basically goes "Can we please have Mahrez for less than we paid for Mendy and we'll throw in some shit player on the fringes of the squad with a made up value so it looks like the deal is worth more?"
"No, £80mill or fuck off".

And the rest is history.

Mangala before he went on loan may of been valued at 15mil. i know he was bought for more, but his stock has dropped.

Still well done to leicester for holding your ground. Hopefully marhez behaves as he has in the first part of the season and continues to perform.

How dare one team value a player differently to the other. What a fucking travesty!!

Fair play to Leicester if that;s what they believe Mahrez is worth, well within their rights to stick to their principles. As are City in relation to what they want to pay, be it right or wrong in anyone's opinion.

How does FFP work?

I'm not asking this to dig at City but PSG apparently have it hanging over them after Mbappe and Neymar and yet it never seems to be talked about in the UK....?

I’m told Riyad Mahrez failed to report for #lcfc training this morning. He has now missed two training sessions and a game, so is technically in breach of contract and on strike. Sources say he is depressed after failing to get his move to #mcfc.

He's going the full Van Dijk. The depression card gets me.

Can we not make light of depression, please. It's a serious mental ailments that affects a huge number of people who don't play for Man City for many different reasons.

tldr; it doesn't work. clubs like psg and city cover their ridiculous spending with phony sponsorship deals. the only thing it's achieved is ensuring "smaller clubs" can't hope to compete financially. you breach ffp? here's a fine mr. billionaire. that'll teach you.

So City are to blame for being allowed to operate within the rules, albeit scandalous; but within the rules?

I'm fairly certain it should be the footballing authorities that should receive the brunt of your frustration rather than the clubs?

(Not to say I think you are wrong 'RE FFP it's farcical)

If that's true then hopefully for Leicester he takes the example of Coutinho who, after getting over his back injury (pffffft) at the start of the season, realised he would need to wait another 6-7 months before he could possibly have any chance of moving and ceased with the fucking around, apologised and got stuck in. Only Salah was better in the first half of our season before Coutinho was sold.

Marhez will be doing himself no favours if he starts this sulking shite. It might have worked for VvD but you have to think that was the exception rather than the rule. City don't want or need Marhez anywhere near as much as Liverpool did with VvD, so I doubt they will be back, and especially if he makes no effort and either doesn't play at all or lessens his effort when he does. And with two years on his contract, it's not as if he can wait around to go on a free.

first of all i didn't say city were to blame. secondly, you don't operate within the rules. quite the opposite. that's why you were fined for breaching ffp and why you now have workarounds with massively inflated sponsorship deals.

the whole idea of ffp was stupid and misleading. it was supposed to create a more even playing field when all it's done is ensure the money clubs can stay where they are no matter what, which i suspect is exactly what the powers that be wanted from it. ironically, city were one of the main clubs who caused ffp to be introduced. i'm not frustrated with city with regards to ffp though, they can do what they like with their blood money and laugh in the face of any financial sanctions. i think they're a vile club and their fans sold their soul for a few shiny pots but they didn't introduce ffp, it's not their fault.
