Cheers Watford. We're obviously pretty keen on him but I just don't see why we'd take him over Slimani. He's an improvement on Ulloa but he's a bencher.
It seems we're kind of on a mental block financially though when it comes to strikers. We put in an offer for Slimani and when it was refused we didn't go back because they wanted in excess of £20mill. We went for Musa, agreed £18mill they decided that they actually wanted to go over £20mill, so that's gone dead, now we're offering £20mill for Deeney and now that's refused it's likely that'll die off. Meanwhile we're unsure on if we're going to keep Vardy because his clause, of £20mill, was activated. It's like there is a cieling of £20mill on everyone at the minute.

Just had a look at his goals record for last season as well. At first I thought 13 wasn't so bad, but 6 of those have come from the spot, and most of his goals came against Norwich, Villa, Newcastle and Crystal Palace. The only top half side he scored against in open play was Stoke.

Yeah, he would be the calibre of player I'd hope Mourinho is looking at. Flexible enough to play all over the attacking midfield three too.

Can definitely understand them turning it down. £20mill doesn't get much in terms of strikers without taking a gamble on someone unproven in the league. Unless they've got a fucking release clause.

No idea. There were reports it was about 25% a while back but the figures coming out now are around 30%. You'd think that negotiating that kind of deal there'd be a cap on it but who knows.

I think it's around 5 million to fleetwood and 2 million to Halifax but yeah 7 million is owed from the transfer.

Our best central midfielder Arter has signed a new 3 year deal, which is great. We didn't lose many games last season when he was fit and playing, although fitness was an issue for him. Think the win over Southampton has his last proper appearance, barring a limp outing against Everton. He had to pull out of the Irish squad as well, so no guarantee he'll be fit for August.

Nothing on Artur Boruc (currently away with Poland obviously) and he becomes a free agent on June 30th as it stands. Federici the backup keeper also signed a new 3 year deal recently which might hint at Boruc leaving. Or could be a red herring.

Tommy Elphick looks to be off to Aston Villa for 3m, having been offered a new deal on his current remaining 1 year, but with a likely backup position in our squad now that we need to improve defensively. Villa are offering him their captaincy. Together with selling Tomlin (sooner or later) for a similar sum, we have something coming into the coffers.

Michael Hector from Chelsea has been strongly linked as a new CB.
