We're offering £12mill for Mendy from Nice now, and that's what they originally asked for (or somewhere thereabouts) so if he's coming in it's increasingly likely it's because Kante is out. Hopefully it's depth/cover a replacement for Inler, but at £22mill and Mourinho apparently in for him who'll obviously want him as the new Mak then he's most probably off.

Could it be that Mendy would be a replacement for an outgoing Inler? Not that I'd complain because I'd love Kante at United.

I think Berahino to Stoke is going to happen this summer. Him up top with the trio of Arnie, Bojan & Shaq behind him could become a stupendously good attacking unit. Imbula is a beast in midfield to keep things steady. If they can sort out the shaky defence and keep Shawcross/Butland fit then they've got a starting 11 to can beat anyone.

He will be a tough one to replace but I've just not been able to fully forgive him for refusing to play against Midtjylland in the Europa League last season. It was by far our biggest game of the season and he stuck two fingers up at the club and the supporters, especially the ones who travelled to the game.

£11m is a good price for both us and Spurs. He's fantastic when he's on form (bullying Liverpool an example) and Pochettino should get the best out of him.

As mentioned, Midtjylland. Also didn't look like he could be bothered for most of last year. Picking up three red cards over the course of the season which saw him miss 11 games because of his poor discipline.

Ah ok I didn't know about Midgyland and those cards tbh! I just thought it was a similar situation as to how you guys hate Lovren and Lallana.

Nathan Redmond signing next week apparently. £8m.

Good squad player but fuck right off if he's our Mane replacement.

Boruc signs for one more year.

Emerson Hyndman signs from Fulham, 20 year old USA youth international, midfielder. Only 20-30 Championship appearances to his name so probably a development squad prospect for now?

Talk of another West Ham push for Ritchie, 8 rising to 10m, despite all the attacking midfielders they have. I would do a deal for the right price but not sure 8-10m is it. Although it's hard to judge prices tbh.

We're strongly linked to Mkhitaryan.

Raiola seems determined to get the move done.

We want a loan of Lemina from Juve for the midfield. That'd just be for numbers really I think.

We're also apparently interested in Burnleys Michael Keane. We had him on loan in the 12/13 season and I thought we might have made an offer back then, but he was still trying to progress to Utds first team back then.
He won't be starter but given the age of our first choice pair and Wasilewski on a 1 year contract it won't be long before the first 11 needs fresh legs.
I'd imagine though it's in his best interest to stay with Burnley and see how they fare first. If they were to go down and he did well he'd probably be in a better position to move then. And if they stay up he'll be a starter in a successful side.

11m being reported elsewhere!
Might be worth it if he adds some consistency to his game mind.

In other news, Leicester buying Troy Deeney for 25m. £25m!

Fucking hell.

It's a lot of money, but isn't Deeney an improvement on your non-Vardy strikers?

In theory he'd be a good striker partner for Vardy.

There's lots of strikers that could improve on our non Vardy options if we're going to spend £25mill. However although Ulloa only got 1 less than Deeney from open play last season, so he's hardly proved he's worth spending anywhere near that kind of money on. We've supposedly dropped our interest in Slimani at 30million Euros, a guy who scored 32 in 42 last season and someone I'd rather have.

Not that we've actually bid £25mill yet. It's actually just what his agent has said Watford want for him.

Bild said something along the lines of it was either a 50m deal to City now or a 37m deal to Bayern next season. he probably should have waited a season.

Deeney's performances drew a lot of praise last season and it wasn't really due to the goals he scored. He created plenty of chances, held up the ball and brought players into the game.

Having never seen Slimani play I won't want to comment on his quality even in spite of those impressive stats. However Vardy is currently your main striker and teams (including Leicester) that play 2 up front tend have one goal scorer and the other doing a lot of the 'donkey' work. Deeney does that donkey work well and you know he can do it in the Premier League.

It's somewhat similar to us being linked to Vardy. It's not the most exciting striker we could have been linked to and I can't help wondering if there is some more quality in a foreign league, however Vardy has shown he can score goals and striker is an obvious area in which we need to improve. So it's not the end of the world he we do end up spending a big chunk (probably) of our transfer budget on him.

Okazaki does that donkey work well. Very well. I think we're better trying to buy goals than donkey work. We only have 2 players in our side that are prolific and we might not start the season with either.
I wouldn't be unhappy with Deeney, but I'd prefer some of the other targets we've been linked with who we've eased up on because the clubs were asking for more than £20mill.
Of course he may do really well for us if we got him. Vardy took a year to adjust to the Prem, and Deeney had a better record in the Championship. But £25mill man, fucking hell!

That's all fair enough and I don't disagree really. Although my impression was that while Okazaki worked his bollocks off he isn't a player that's going to create chances and link up with your midfield. Just harried the opposition defence like a Japanesse Shane Long?

£25m is a lot of dosh, but with the new TV money that might end up being a more common price tag.
