United were supposedly after Renato Sanches for quite a while but Bayern have now signed him. I've not seen much of him but heard that he is pretty raw with massive potential. He must have something about him for Bayern to move for him so quickly and for Ancelotti to make him his first signing at £30 odd million.

I doubt it. We paid £5m more if reports are true and, under Klopp, he's finally showing the quality for which we bought him for in the first place. He's arguably been our best player in the last 2-3 months.

I'd be very surprised if Klopp wanted rid and that would be the only reason he'd be sold to Spurs.

Don't see that, you must consider the amortization of his price.
It would be a capital gain for Liverpool.

Read Arsenal are interested in Kante and he's worth only 20 mill? Surely if he were to go it would be for double that at the min.

Hasn't he got a £20m buyout clause? Leicester need to get him signed up to a new deal.

Woody proves his incompetence once again. This kid would have gone on to be a beast in the pl, powerful technical box to box player that can do a bit of everything at 18 years old.

Talk in the Standard of West Ham lining up a bid for Vardy. Silly street in the papers since the talk of £50m to spend in the summer came up. They'll be in for Messi next.

Vardy wouldn't suit them.

Yeah that's probably it as he's definitely wanted around the world as he'd improve almost every team.

A £20mill buy out clause is a bit redundant really though anyway. If somebody goes in for him for £20mill a shitload of clubs are going to come in offering more. Nobody will get him for his clause which I think has already been sounded out as bullshit, but either way it doesn't matter.

Not if he wants to go to the team who offered £20m.

it's interesting, i've seen that he signed a contract in november increasing his buyout fee to 45mil euros. and now this

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ich-latest-transfer-details-reaction-and-more

claiming that it's actually 35 mil + 45 mil in addons. Maybe united didn't think he was worth either fee. Unknown. But it is just like always under eddie, bid lower than the release clause, fuck around for a bit then someone else buys them....and we get felliani....again. Does he have a brother?

Apparently the local German press are reporting we're close to agreeing a deal for Granit Xhaka. Meant to be a no nonsense type DM, likes a yellow/red card but can also dictate play. Basically a mix of Flamini and Arteta. Would also have the second best name at the club after Vladimir Dragomir, and significanty improve the Team Sexy coefficient after the signings of Gabriel and Elneny.

Nothing official from the club, but reports in Spain and Alex Crook over here who's pretty reliable, suggest we've signed Sporting Gijon defender Bernardo Espinosa on a free transfer.

Columbian centre back who grew up at Sevilla's academy, a big stopper of a defender apparently, presumably must be able to play a little if he grew up in Spain. Was named in the Segunda team of the season for 14/15 as Gijon won promotion to La Liga, then started well enough in La Liga and had been linked with Watford and Everton, before getting injured for 6 months and running his contract down. Which is probably why we've been able to get him. If we can get him fit then he might be just what we need.

Bit of a punt perhaps, but no signings we'll be able to attract ahead of others at this level will be sure fire successes will they. Our continued success will have to depend on finding the odd rough gem.

Thats not how it works though. Surely all teams go in at the buy out clause figure and the choice is down to the player? Offering 30m when everyone else is offering 20m would be pointless.....

It's not a release clause it's (apparently) a buy out clause. They're a lot more long winded and more difficult to complete/negotiate and so most clubs would try to get him above the value of a clause in order to get him in before there is interest from elsewhere.
As soon as someone tried to get him via the clause another club would just offer a higher sum to work a deal that would ensure them the player without using the clause. The selling club can still refuse to sell via a buy out and then a case would go to the court of arbitration for sport, meanwhile another club could offer £5mill more or whatever and obviously the selling club can decide to sell to them via the normal process. The player of course could say he wishes to play for the club that are only offering £20mill but if there's a choice of clubs and one is trying to get you on the cheap as it were and another values you to the point they're willing to offer a lot more for you I think you'd feel like you were better off at the club that shows how much they want you by offering more money.
Of course they could all go and do what you said but it doesn't ever really happen that way unless they're the only interested party.

Let's say Arsenal trigger the clause, then Bayern and Barca came along and said "we'll have a piece of that", where do you think that puts Arsenal in the standings? Generally speaking? They are now probably sitting in the back seat while Bayern and Barca are in the front scrapping it out for the driving seat. So Arsenal slap £25mill down, Leicester accept, Bayern and Barca have a decision to make. Either stick to the clause, and hope the player chooses you over the competitor and you can try to negotiate the deal before the window is done or put in an offer that puts you on top of the other clubs.

We got Gray in January thanks in part to him having had a release clause put into his new contract which he got in the summer after we expressed an interest in him before the season started. A release clause means the club accepts the value it's set at. A buy out clause means the player has to buy himself out of his contract and generally the buying club pays for that via the player, but there's taxation issues and other sorts of shit that make it a drawn out process.

Hope so.

Welbeck's out for 9 months (RIP Welbeck), so we will sign a striker this summer. Of course we will.

Looks increasing likely that we'll be signing Xhaka. I still don't know anything about him but I've seen people compare him to Schweinsteiger and he's considered a leader apparently so that's good, I suppose. I still really like the fact he's 6'1, we're crying out for height in our midfield.

It's £39m apparently, that's quite the fee for somebody who's still only 23 and is still relatively unknown or not as hyped up as other players his age around Europe.

Bit of a weird one for me as I'm not sure if Arsenal fans should now get really excited or really nervous. Wenger wasn't willing to spend any money on a striker unless a world class player was available as though only world class players are above Giroud and co, but he's now gone and spend over the odds really on a centre mid, one position where they don't need as much improvement. So either this is a good thing for fans because it means Wenger is going to go all out and spend whatever it takes to improve the side or it's a bad sign because he's spending a massive chunk of his transfer budget (whatever that may be) on a player that frankly isn't nearly as needed as a CB and a striker. But if it's the former then it'll be an exciting summer for gunners. As long as they don't fuck about trying to sign a player they have no chance of getting, like Benzema last year. Just think if you'd have gotten Alderweireld in last summer for starters.

I think we'll spend a good amount of money this summer, but I also thought we'd do that last summer. I think we have to at this point - the money is there and we're going to need the reinforcements if we're going to have a better season next year.

A striker has to be the priority. There are plenty of options so there can't be any excuses.

As much as Arsenal need a good CB and a top striker, they do need a good midfielder who can defend and dictate play.
Their defense a front of the back four has been terrible for most of the season, and can't keep possession when pressured. Coquelin has been always under huge pressure and that's why he got a lot of cards. Ramsey is not good enough at this postion. Carzola is too small to do anything defensively. Who else has they got, Wilshere and Rosicky? How many games has those two played?
If I were Wenger, I'd make central midfield my priority in the market. The question is that whether Xhaka or anyone else available can be good enough.
