I have a theory that Chelsea are preparing for a no deal Brexit, so are focussing on English players. £50m on Drinkwater and Barkley, about to spend more on Carroll. What does Abramovich know that we don't?

Looks like we are stepping up our interest in Fred from Donetsk.

Won't proclaim to know an awful lot about him but supposedly a long term replacement for Fernandinho.

Do you think Sanchez is enough to start clawing the gap on City, or he just going to be a signing so you can try to keep up with them so the gap doesn't increase further?

Not for this season but he'll help guarantee second place and give us an extra world class player going into next season where we'll hopefully address our central midfield and full back issues and be in a better position to challenge City.

The Times are reporting that Sanchez will be on a base salary of £350k - a mere 50k higher than the wage Pagnell told us Rooney had been on for about a decade.

You forgot to mention Trump.

“I do not want to comment on the numbers they offer to Sanchez. I respect Man United because they raise the money they pay to players with their own resources. It’s up to them how much they pay."

“United is a club very well managed financially so I don’t have any problem with what they pay.”

Little dig at City from Big Weng there, preach it.

Interesting that the Times is claiming the package City offered Sanchez was actually higher than what we offered.

The whole City taking a moral stand against United throwing cash around was clearly a PR offensive from City after getting rejected and or deciding against signing him.

I can't claim to have any inside info but the narrative that has been thrown about that a player would only choose Manchester United over Man fucking City because of money would be hillarious if it wasnt so insane.

I suppose if he had a better minutes/goals ratio then he'd probably feel pretty bad.

If...

The article includes the phrase "what a piece of work he is" in reference to Sanchez.

The idea of Chelsea being interested in Crouch is frankly hilarious. Surely it can't be true.

Is Aubemayang really going to Arsenal? Because I have a vision of him getting injured in February and never fully recovering.

I wonder how you'll line up with Aubameyang, Ozil, Mkhitaryan and Lacazette in your 3-4-2-1. Four into three doesn't go. Back to a 4-2-3-1 with Aubameyang forced wide?

Or perhaps even a less revolutionary 4-2-2-2...if they had a half decent defensively-minded midfielder or two.

It's certainly an interesting tactic to sell your only proper DM then revert back to a formation that requires one.

They say fuck it and buy another £50m+ striker and an attacking midfielder.

Basically Arsenal have no plan or idea how they want to play. The only thing I know is that for some reason, there must always be Xhaka.

hasn't coq been shite since cazorla got injured? looked like a good ball winner who had a role in the side when he had a quality playmaker to pass 5 yards to, not so much since then.

That's pretty accurate to be fair. He's a rather limited footballer, but an effective shield in front of the back four that was asked to do a more demanding role when Cazorla (RIP) got injured and we changed to a 3-4-3 formation. It's a job he struggled with, but then all of our midfielders have.

However the role Elneny played today would have been more suitable to Coquelin than any midfielder Arsenal currently have. With Wilshere and to a much less extent Xhaka ahead of him, I would have thought Coquelin would have looked far more comfortable as he's so much better defensively than Elneny.

EDIT: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42762918

Straight swap for Mkhitaryan and Sanchez, no money involved.

what were you playing today, a 4-3-3? agree with you on xhaka btw. one of the biggest mysteries/mistakes of your club is first of all buying him and secondly his continued inclusion in the side in an unfamiliar role(s). don't think he's a bad player mind, just doesn't seem to fit and has been asked to do things he isn't capable of. if you've gone back to playing a dedicated dm then yeah, a bit stupid to sell coquelin.

Straight swapping a squad player for Arsenal's best player. Good bit of bidness, that.

Now interested in Ashley Barnes, this myth is confirmed.

From Don Balon.
The Spanish publication have raised eyebrows by linking Real Madrid star Toni Kroos with a move to Anfield.
The World Cup winner is said to want to work for Jurgen Klopp and is keen on a move to the Reds.
