Our young centre half Ciaron Brown is to go on trial at Sheffield Wednesday this week. Wish him well but that would be one hell of a jump.

Me too. Could be one of our best signings of the summer.

Inclined to agree. He's versatile, strong and skilful - think we gave up on him as he didn't want to sign a contract with us because he thought Fleetwood would give him another deal.

Been playing centre mid for us in friendlies and looks solid there alongside Wedgbury, he does look like he could play anywhere though. Would be chuffed to get him, I can't believe he is on a free transfer.

The question of Akil and wether we were interested in him or not was put to Paul Cox at a recent Q&A he said yes he was very much a player we would be interested in. Apparently he has been offered a new deal at Fleetwood but has so far declined it and because of Akil's age there was a sell on clause. And it sounded like our club were reluctant at this stage to pay whatever that clause was. Shame really as I really rated the guy and whoever Akil joins will have a sound player on their books.

Expecting he'll go into our under 23's, then again we are after 2 centre backs and 1 of them is likely to be a young up and comer. He any good?

For a centre half at this level, yes. Started off at Left Back for us but didn't look comfortable there and he's even admitted that it's not his natural position. He was finally shifted over to centre half in February and it's no coincidence that our form improved off the back of the move.

He reads the game well, good passer of the ball and has the mobility and strength to play at our level. The question remains whether those two physical attributes would translate to playing in the Championship. The last player we sold to a Yorkshire club did alright for himself...

And for us. Cheers for discovering him. We may have never reached the Championship if it wasn't for him

Noticed both Jordan Richards and Scott Fenwick played as trialists for Darlo last night - I think both are easily National League level, although Fenwick couldn't get in the York team last year. Read somewhere that they both scored, but just seen that the game finished in a 2-1 loss so not sure what happened there.

Were you impressed with either of them, Darlo fans?

Fenwick barely touched the ball in the 45 mins for us on Saturday but wasn't his fault as he was up front alone with a team of trialists playing out of position behind him against a strong Derby team. Would like to think we'd give him another shot.

Jordan Richards didnt exactly set the world alight with us on loan at the back end of last season. Although circumstances where difficult. Not sure his good enough as a regular in a side aiming for promotion from this division.

It'll be interesting to see if he's in the squad for our friendly tonight.

Fenwick is a good finisher but his movement and all round game were nowhere near league level. Regional standard is his level, although, bizarrely, he had a lot of fan boys among our support which I never quite understood. Good luck to him though, I liked his attitude and passion.

Seen enough of Jordan Richards to say he'd be a solid national league signing. He was okay on his day in L2 but not quite good enough overall as a regular league player. Heard that he found it tough personally at Alfreton but I think he'd be a really good player at NLN level given an arm around the shoulder and promise of regular football.

Yeah, I was impressed with Scott Fenwick and Jordan Richards, If I had a choice between the two of them I'd be inclined to go for Jordan Richards, he absolutely ran the show in the 2nd half (If we were thinking of signing one of them). He did score a brilliant goal from a free kick, but was disallowed for offside, as for Scott Fenwick I'm not sure we have room for another forward. But good luck to Scott & Jordan where ever they end up in August.
I was also impressed with a lad called Josh Wheatley, has anybody heard of him?

On a side-note, Jason Ainsley (Spennymoor) was at the match last night.

The centre-midfielder we had playing on trial today stood out an absolute mile! Long hair, tattoos up his arms and a northern accent. He's jumped right to the top of our must-sign list, but nobody knows who he is...
Also a centre-back named "Kingy". All our triallists looked very decent tonight though, and would make a very good squad if we could sign the majority of them up.

Yes, good shout! Definitely him. Strange that he seems to be a midfielder but played centre-back. There were probably a couple of unknown defenders that impressed more than him though - just our keeper spent the whole half shouting at "Kingy"

Our two trialists that started the game: right back (background), centre back (foreground). We're set to announce two signings this week, and I bet one of these two will be among them.

Our forum says James King from Bradford - looks about right.
Unfortunately, it seems our star midfielder was....Danny Racchi. He did look bloody good though.

Anyone know who this guy is [not Neill Danns]? Was an unnamed trialist for us last night.

Did he play central midfield? If so I think he's the same guy who was on trial at Blackpool and played against Southport on Saturday. Couldn't tell you his name though.

We had Rory Fallon on trial last night. Fortunately it sounds like he did bugger all so hopefully that'll be the end of that one.

Racchi is a total wanker. We have this EVERY summer where he's on trial somewhere.

Yeah, I've always had that impression of him based on the comments on here! Does anyone have an opinion on how good he is at football though? Played in front of the defence spraying balls around and looked like the midfielder we've craved for years.
