Curtis Obeng been training with us apparently, has barely broke 5 games a season for the past 5 years.
It didn't go well then..?
'Calling it a day with football' he has said on Twitter today.

Staggering how it never worked out for him anywhere else after we sold him to Swansea, shame.

You must admit it would be a strange move for him to make if League clubs are interested. And we would not sell to a club in the same division (I would imagine).

There seems quite a frenzy on Red Passion if it is such a routine approach........

It would be a really odd move. I've said so all summer, I don't believe it will happen for a second.

Askey had confirmed Durrell is "training" with us, and that he and ex-Brum Koby Arthur "are looking really good". See Arthur has had spells on loan at Lincoln and Cheltenham recently.

Played 45 mins against an amateur outfit last week and isn't playing in tonight's friendly, we've also just signed a centre half.

We only had him for a brief spell on loan.

Very, very small. JPK type size, quick and tricky but his final ball was poor. He didn't look as though he had any strength in his legs to get it off the ground or any decent distance on it.

That was 2 or 3 years ago now I think.

Sounds very reminiscent of JPK; whenever he took corners it looked like he had to put his whole body into it and it still struggled to get anywhere with any sort of pace!

Bit of a long shot, but are there any Welling fans on here who can tell me about Noah Chesmain?

He's currently on trial with us from Millwall.

The long and short of it is good going forward, but won't track back.

He needs to settle down somewhere. He's had 6 clubs in two seasons. Don't think he played for Dover in the end (signed, but didn't play).

Nicky Featherstone to either Swindon or Exeter, so hope this is true, he is useless

Really? Joy....

Despite being useless, is he a kind of a defensive midfielder? We'd need someone who can tackle...

Woking fans what was Brandon Hall like? On trial with us.

Not sure what Woking fans thought of him, but was quite poor here. Makes a couple of very decent saves every now and then but made double the amount of mistakes. We signed Nathan Ashmore in the end and dropped Hall. Had we had Ashmore the full season, we wouldn't have let that lead slip to Sutton IMO.

Callum Hassan, ex Hartlepool and Kidderminster with his last spell at West Auckland, played in his second friendly on trial for Halifax tonight

Didn't realise Cal Hassan was still in football, last I heard he'd opened a restaurant in the town.

He joined us at a time when he had players put in no effort but he gave it all, unfortunately he wasn't very good nowhere near as good asTom Denton for example. Seemed like a decent person but didn't have the ability.

Looked okay against a full strength Derby team and looked good against a fairly strong Villa team. Seen he's been in the England C team as well. Hopefully he's gotten better since his time with you.

There was a lot of potential with him, he just made too many mistakes. Was in the England C squad whilst with us, strangely!

Another trialist for us, who has impressed in two games now. We're set to announce four signings this week, apparently.

left Coventry on 1st July so would not be a loan deal. 6'2" so fits the profile
Well he was definitely involved on Tuesday night - looks like he's not played a lot of football in recent years, at least not for Coventry

yeah - he picked up some kind of injury that put him out for a bit... interestingly today's paper said trialists who have played in France and Holland played on Tuesday....

Thierry Audel will be one of them - he's signing this morning.

Anyone know if he's any good? Seems to be the experienced defender we've been waiting for.

can any Macclesfield fans answer that one?
being French and experienced he should help Diarra come on too.

He isn't useless at all. He is a fantastic footballer. But no, he isn't a tough tackler.

Our fans have a tendency to not appreciate good footballers, and prefer rugby players. Alas, Featherstone gets a lot of unjustified stick. He would be a brilliant signing for you, though.

Strange one that. He only played 45 minutes, and although it was only against an amateur team, he looked pretty good. Quick, and composed. Think it must be something other than footballing reasons for him to stop playing.

HAHA mate your delusional, Hignett labelled him the "messi" of league 2 and he didn't have a clue either, the bloke cannot run, cannot tackle and can only pass backwards, just like Woods his sidekick, like i mentioned on the pools website I will gladly drive him to which ever club he wants to go to free of charge.

No, I'm not. I just have a different opinion to you.

I would describe him as the Xavi of League 2 personally, but each to their own.

I'm with Serg on this one (no surprise me and PoolieTom in disagreement as usual :hypo:) there is this delusion with a small section of Pools fans that Featherstone is some technical footballing wizard, he really isn't, he gets caught out on the ball constantly, he can pass it 5 yards in any direction and people cream themselves, he's been at the heart of the team playing 40+ games a season for the past few years when we've been at our very worst, to get a fee for him would be a cracking bit of business.

Funnily enough my mate thinks exactly this, he says he is the best player pools have, haha, i suppose it's like what poolietom says, you either love him or hate him but i know there are more people who think he is useless than good. Like you say mate he has been in the spine of this team and its been the worst few seasons ever, not just him who is to blame mind.

I think the delusion is the opinion that 'he only passes sideways', personally. He very rarely gets caught out in possession, problem is that the odd time he does it is obviously in a position that usually leads to a shot on goal. I only recall this happening once where it lead to a goal, albeit not directly.

It's not easy to find space on a football pitch, especially when you are the shitter of the two teams playing like we were in the majority of our games last year. And Featherstone made it look easy. He wants the ball at his feet, and he wants to get the ball moving.

Unfortunately with donkeys like Scott Harrison behind him who prefers the old lump up top to 5ft Podge Amond, it's not always easy.

In an attacking, footballing team like Exeter who are no doubt going to be at the top end of the league, Featherstone will look even better than he did here.
