Sorry if it's been asked before but why on Earth has no team come in for Tarpey??
There are lots of claims, none of which have been verified, such as:

He has a good job outside of football and doesn't want to go full time

Wycombe made an offer for him but Maidenhead offered to match the salary they were offering (I find this one hard to believe)

Nobody wants him because he's old

I honestly don't know the answer to your question. I have no doubt he's happy at Maidenhead and I think it would require a very attractive offer for him to leave, not just a League 2 club offering to increase his salary a bit.

I think he's similar to Reeves now i.e. probably too old to be worth his while. What is he, 29/30? The chance has probably gone.

Spennymoor forward David Dowson has been made available for either loan or permanent transfer by the club.
He boasts an impressive list of clubs on his CV, including Sunderland AFC, Durham City, York City and Chesterfield.
Hmm, somehow I don't think Spennymoor like us anymore.

Amond made himself unavailable for match at Bromley yesterday, apparently Newport want him. Not a fan of players doing this sort of stuff but have to say I don't blame him one bit. Club or rather managers have just took the p**s out of him, instead of using his strengths they have him chasing lost causes every game and on his own. At Grimsby he had a big target man in Bogle and look where he is now compared to Amond, oh and Amond scored 37 goals that season, its not rocket science is it!!!!

Bogle was the stand-out talent of the two, and seemed criminally underused by Grimsby at the time. Amond is a solid Conference, useful League 2 player at best.

In my opinion, of course.

Pretty much got it for me, Amond has already been released twice from league clubs in his career and played 46 games for us in a side that got us relegated for the first time in our history, not a criticism of him, just a fact. Arguably he is the top earner at Pools after we managed to take him from a successful recently promoted Grimsby side, so for the little tart to throw his toys out the pram and declare himself unavailable for selection on the Friday before a game on Saturday can go fuck himself, how any Pools fan can have any sympathy for the bloke needs the contents of their head looking at.

Nah, during that season Amond was always going to score more. Bogle was strong and quick but didn't have that goal scoring nouse that Amond did. Sure, he would've scored a lot more if he'd been played more but they were completely different players. Bogle has obviously kicked on a lot!

Based purely on the games they both played against us (Bogle at Solihull before that too), Bogle always seemed the bigger threat.
Plus the TV matches I saw of Grimsby that season, Amond did nowt.
If you'd said to me at the time, which one of the two would I want in Barrow's side, there would only be one choice. That's probably vindicated now.

Amond reminds me of a bit like Effion Williams in that he will run all day and knows where the goal is. I easily think he is a league 1 player with the right service and given the chances he would score more than he would miss I think. To be fair no striker at Hartlepool has had the service for the last 6 or 7 seasons, but I agree it is out of order but at the same time no one can enjoy being a striker at pools at the minute.

Two trialists for us in our Kent Senior Cup game tonight. Defender Jean Niate, formerly of Oxford City and Solihull. Solihull Mooron did he play much for you?

Also have a Bobby Sears. Not much online but sounds like he's only around 18/19 and is/was contracted to Barnet after signing from Thurrock. No idea what position he is, but we certainly need a defender.

Bowman was a decent striker at this level and if Amond was forcing the move, may be reasonable business, though the fee isn't great.

The fee seems reasonable, a 30 year old who didn't want to be here with less than a year left on his contract and a solitary penalty goal to his name in the last 15 starts, we were hardly gonna get mega bucks for him.

When he played for us I hate to think what was going through his mind, with us suffering financial difficulties during his playing time at Darlo. But he did manage to bang 11 goals in 42 appearances during his brief spell with us.
Sorry 'Chief Rocka I'm off the topic here discussing Ryan Bowman instead of Amond :shut:

Dave Tarpey rejected a contract offer from Coventry as he would have been worse off accounting for giving up his other job.

Expect a number of our players to depart, chiefly Byron Harrison, who has had some offers from this division but stayed loyal to Cox.

Amond claiming in the press he didn't go on strike, but I'm sure any self-respecting footballer would understandably throw a hissy fit if he was denied the chance of moving to the bright lights of Newport County.

It's like if Morpeth Town reserves were courting me and I couldn't join, I'd throw all the toys out of the pram. Big style. Rattle first, nappy second, tinky winky third.

We're apparently looking at signing Freddie Lapado from Crystal Palace.

Palace also have one of youngsters who played in the first team last season on trial - Sam Dalby.

Scored 4 in 15 for Shrewsbury last year- would be an excellent signing at NL level.

Was mentioned on our forum last week by someone. Not heard anything since then.

Koue Niate played at the back for us for about 5 games during his short stay with us. Big lad, who was decent at heading. He fouled a lot and Bignot only signed him because we were short of defenders. I think he was sent off at Lincoln.
Has he signed now?

Yes mate. Seems that's all we've signed him for really, as he's not featured in either league game so far. We signed Chris Bush as well, so Niate will probably just be drafted in if there's an injury to him or Mambo I'd imagine.

We're apparently in for Crawleys Matt Harrold and maybe Paul Hayes who was released by Wycombe. Don't want either as both have awful recent injury records and long since past their best. But we started late in terms of signing players, so we're in for the scraps!!
