£2m a year isn't sustainable either unless you're massive like Luton or your owner is filthy rich and not for leaving like Fleetwood or Forest Green. £1.5-2m is probably sustainable for ourselves, Stockport and Notts County. Ourselves and Notts County because we'll both have good revenue streams going into next season and Stockport because of their rich owner who seems to be buying into the model.

Grimsby and Southend might be able to compete financially because of their parachute payments. Hartlepool have a very good manager in charge who could probably get them up on a budget of £1m, but I'm not sure what Chesterfield are playing at. If they don't go up this season surely they'll be in a world of trouble.

A lot of it is historical to be honest. The wage bill has reduced under Rowe as I understand it, and will continue to once we can offload a load of the shit we've got. Will be a revolving door this summer

Regarding Coke, I hope we don't bring him in. We can do better, especially if we're keeping Harry Clifton who will fill the CM runner role.

I’ve been on and off Clifton for the past 3 seasons and I’ve finally come to the conclusion that I don’t rate him. He’s a tireless worker and good for playing multiple positions but he’s not particularly good at any of them. Personally I’d keep Coke for the defensive midfielder role unless Hurst can find better (tbc).

I’ve been on and off Clifton for the past 3 seasons and I’ve finally come to the conclusion that I don’t rate him. He’s a tireless worker and good for playing multiple positions but he’s not particularly good at any of them. Personally I’d keep Coke for the defensive midfielder role unless Hurst can find better (tbc).

Yeah, I've come to the same conclusion in L2 terms. I wouldn't want him with us if we stayed up, but with a more restricted budget then a player that has a decent engine and can play in a variety positions isn't a bad one to have. One thing that's really bugged me about him this season is that whenever he's played in CM he's never really attempted to play the ball forward, but stick him on at wing back/full back and suddenly he thinks he's Pirlo, pinging balls all over the shop (mainly out of touch). He's a weird one, because he's tenacious and direct but also gets bullied due to being lightweight. Coke can't really pass either and doesn't cover as much ground as Clifton but he's hardier. I wouldn't be massively arsed about which one we kept or if we got rid of both. Keep them both though and I think we've dropped a clanger.

I mean going forward. Our transfer budget was over £1m in the last few years. If I recall correctly, it was around £1.2m when Bryan Hughes was in charge. We pretty much spunked the lot though through dire leadership at the top.

Our shirt sponsorship alone will now be in the millions as opposed to the £250k or so we've been getting in the previous years. We're filthy stinking rich for once.

It wasn't when we were fan owned, although we were also the only club making a profit for the last few years.

It might be sustainable once the new owners have sorted out the corporate/marketing and community elements, and we've got brand spanking new training facilities and a new Kop.

So far all we've really got is electronic hoardings, and they are sorting out the club shop and concourse areas. Our new CEO doesn't start till June. The work starts properly then.

Hang on, what's this talk of £2m wage budgets? I'm pretty sure the salary cap for League 2 this season was £1.5m!

Ours last season in the Conference was supposedly around a million (which still seems high for us) and was roughly the 10th biggest budget. If you're spending double that, you must have incredibly incompetent management if you can't win the league by 30 points.

He’s also in contract for another year I think and as you probably know we don’t need the money.

I’d agree with others - he would be more than fine in League Two but that’s probably his limit considering he’s mid 20’s and he’s been in and out of our team all season as he’s competing with a very consistent right back in Sam Minihan.

This is not a rumour, more an educated guess. We announced our retained list today, and I would not be surprised if Torquay or maybe Yeovil showed interest in young striker Klaidi Lolos. He is just not at League 1 standard but he has scored outside of the league.

Our retained list is expected today or tomorrow. Hurst is reportedly happy with the budget and has alluded to being able to not have to worry about releasing players to balance things up. Hopefully that means we're taking the hit and just releasing all the dross and bad apples.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see us follow our spirit clubs Brentford etc and ditch the traditional academy model soon in favour of one of those development teams.

Nope, hasn't played a single game for the seniors. It's almost better that way. Don't see a minute of them, don't know how good they are.

And yeah, I suspect you won't be the only club ditching their academy over the next few seasons if you do. It would be great if doing so, somehow created a loophole that bypasses EPPP.

Good player, along with Carey at King’s Lynn one of the couple of young players I’ve seen against us this season who looked like definite future league players, imagine he’ll go League One or above for a decent fee. Definitely need to be lowering your sights there haha.

Yeah I was there that night it was sickening to see and hear, Carlton Palmer went up massively in my estimation with the way he dealt with it too, subbed him straight off, fined him and publicly slated him for it afterwards.
