If thats the winger? Ive never been impressed with him. Decent pace but cant cross a ball I would much rather Saint-luce from Gateshead last season who is a free agent

Yeah the winger. His delivery is excellent to be fair - a lot of the reason Gregory scored so many.

He's just been found out a little as he can only really go past people one way and if you double up on him he's in trouble. Outstanding on his day but hasn't produced that enough recently... maybe the new challenge will get the best out of him.

We had agreed a deal with a striker, who has played in the league and scored lots of goals in his career. But Young pulled out of the deal as he didn't think his heart was in it.
Can anybody think who it might be?
My guess would be Bishop but I could be way off.
could well be Bishop.

He's finished now. Can't jump is is so one paced. Never looked like scoring regular for us in his 2 years with us. Going through the motions now I think.

Wasn't great for us. We probably got 5 or 6 decent games out of him over the course of the season - 2 of which were against Halifax IIRC.

He was no worse than your typical lower league winger, though.

Apparently Adam Smith has turned down a contract with us to sign for Wrexham.

Would be very surprised if true. He was excellent in our first season here but only showed glimpses last season. He just doesn't turn up away from home and he simply doesn't work in a 433.
fair enough hasnt really impressed me but only seen him a few times. Bit worrying that he can't play in a 433 if he is signing as Milss has said that he will be using 433

Couldn't find it in me to rate Smith, as much as I want to. Lovely lad, terrific attitude, works hard, but his end product was non-existent. 45 minutes in a cup tie against Mansfield aside, he had a nightmare season.

Has obviously fared better since, which I'm happy to see.

Interview with Hurst today and he said he has tried to sign Danny East a couple times in the past on loan, likes him because he can play in a few positions but anticipates his main position will be as RB, caught his eye back when he played in reserves for Hull.

Defender he showed round the club the other week wasn't East, nor was it Miller, but whoever it was won't be signing for us.

Not spoken to Omar Bogle yet, usual thing with agents in the way, doesn't expect to sign him, believes he will go to football league but would like to chat to him. (not sure how much of that was Hurst being his usual self and pretending things aren't progressing when they are, surprised he hasn't spoken to him yet, but would also agree he will probably end up with a FL club)

Says he has offered one player a contract (not Bogle) and he is waiting on answer, but other than that nothing else happening yet.

Highly unlikely Ollie Palmer will be coming back, expects him to stay at Mansfield if not in the FL.

A few snippets from our "meet the manager" night :

We have agreed a deal in principle to take a defender from a Premier League club on loan.
We are hopeful of getting a midfielder in who Neil Young spoke to today and should give us an answer tomorrow.
We had agreed a deal with a striker, who has played in the league and scored lots of goals in his career. But Young pulled out of the deal as he didn't think his heart was in it.
Can anybody think who it might be?

It was Bishop.
When he was released I wanted Bishop but hearing what Young has said and looking at his goal record at Wrexham maybe we have dodged a bullet. Saying that, there seems to be a lack of iable options to fill that goalscorer role.
You seem to be ITK Ellis you got any names you can see us potentially bringing in?

deal for Falcao is almost complete for Chelsea. It's only a decision between loan or permanent move

Hmmm, Falcao in the conference, could be a good signing. But would he perform on a cold wet Tuesday night in Braintree?

I think you mean Bradley Barnes, their captain? Looked a very good, creative defensive midfielder in the couple of games against us. One of the few players that really impressed last season.
Unless you mean Danny Lloyd? He was the other Fylde player that looked like he could step up. A flying winger with an eye for goal.

I doubt it'd be Danny Rowe, cos he's shite.

Lloyd was pretty limited the last time he was at this level with us, but for some reason, a section of our fan base had a massive boner over him. Very strange.

He may have improved I guess, who knows.

Danny Lloyd....
A rep who used to visit my dept at the hospital regularly is the radio commentator for Harrogate Town and was of the opinion that has improved no end and lots of scouts were watching him from conference(national league!!) last season. He was certainly singing his praises.
Warning will only play north west as he's based there and wouldn't move over here when we offered him a deal.
Remembering all the players we've had in the last four years is frightening, but I do remember him having a decent game against a ramshackle Darlo side Easter Monday 2012. He biggest problem was fitness he struggled to last the whole game.

He could mean Michael Barnes the winger who has just left Fylde.

Apparently we are interested in a player who played against us for Rochdale in the 2008 playoff final. Looking at team and the subs from that day it is probably between Gary Jones and Rene Howe.

No idea where at rumour has come from but no chance it would be Gary Jones. We was playing for Notts County in Lge 1 last year. Don't think (even at his old age) he's going to drop to Conf North.

No idea what Rene Howe has been up to recently, or whether he'd be interested in coming.

Young mentioned it during the individual chats with fans at the "meet the manager " event apparently. Jones is 38 now and based in the north west. He must surely be looking at other options for when he retires, I don't see it as completely out of the question. Howe left Newport in March because his wife was seriously ill and he needed to look after her. Not sure where she is from but if it is from around the Manchester area then i suppose that could be a goer.
