I doubt any of those (maybe Jones excepted having been without a club for quite a long time) would be dropping to this league not to play.
Jones used to watch us as a kid I believe, so sentimental value there perhaps. You need experienced heads in the squad and if they’re proper pros, they won’t mind sitting out games. I remember when we had Glen Little a few years ago, he had the role of being a super sub and what a super sub he was. He probably wouldn’t have liked that title knowing that he’s not got long left in the game, but he remained professional, kept his head down, didn’t complain and became a key player for us off the bench

I could be wrong but I believe Carlisle fans were a little disappointed to see him leave.

Those three would all have a very very decent wage at this level. Signing them all up to "be around the camp" is mental.

Yeah but we've got

Blimey, I remember Furman scoring a worldie against us the year after our Munto season, well over 10 years ago, didn’t realise he was still around

Seems to be playing 5 3 2 so far in pre season, with 2 cms behind an attacking mid. Davies could play that role nicely, although McAlinden started there today.

Akpan and Furman would definitely both want to be starters and would be improvements on Harris and Rutherford/Carra. I could see them as both signing too, although this was Furmans first game for us.

Jones might just be doing it to keep fit and demands might not be there and he wouldn't be featuring in every game for us. He may be comfortable financially from his prem/championship days, family is local, plus he earns media money from Man U too.

Worryingly Young hasn't featured yet, although rumoured to be isolating after being pinged.

There’s been madder than Rob? Wow
Yep we had Joseph Crackhead Smith, the Villa fan who went to Solihull games. There was Petersfield as well who hated us and Wrexham and went on about ejaculating on Iranian women's shoes.

Currently you've got the resident idiot on this board, Carver on the league 2 board, Masi, all much weirder...

Joseph Smith was a special special guy.
I'd say you're right, definitely was. Can't imagine any life left in him what with all the gear and posting anti Brotherhood diatribe at stupid o'clock most mornings. He never slept. Must've been haunted most nights by visions of combovered baldies drinking pints of mild.

Phil Brown is meeting a player tomorrow in regards to signing for us who he says ‘will raise a few eyebrows’.

John Akinde is a name that’s being mentioned as a possibility.

Wrexham fans. Is James Horsfield a decent right back. Lad on our forum who told us Hyde was leaving weeks before it happened saying we will announce he's signed early this week

He’s decent enough yeah. Can also play in centre midfield. Will be a very solid signing for you.

He'd defo be a right back. Midfield is the 1 position we are not short of players. Fits our player profile though. Still young. Potential to develop and versatile. We run with a small squad for that's important.

When he first came to us on loan he looked great, then got injured. He returned last season and things never really went his way so he barely played. He's definitely a solid enough player, I think he'd be a decent signing for anyone at this level.

Always surprises me when Horsfield is mentioned as being young, he looks at least mid 30’s! But yeah he’s a steady player and will always give his all, just a bit injury prone

Injury-prone and Halifax. Nothing changes there. Hasn't particularly impressed in either of our friendlies so far although no one really has bar the odd one or two. Don't think it helps that we are trialist fc currently.

I wouldn’t expect him to impress, he’s not a stand out kind of player, he just does the basics, which is what you need in this league

Someone else has suggested Andy Carroll, which is slightly ridiculous!

Interested to see what other business clubs think they need before the season? Less than 3 weeks away now and it hasn’t seemed that busy for the ‘big’ clubs so I’m presuming there’s more to come?

We’ve made loads of signings obviously, still at least 2 strikers short though IMO

We need a couple more bodies, particularly another option upfront, but in terms of a starting xi we were there a couple of weeks ago.

Jerome Binnom Williams? Not sure if he has a club yet though

He ain't a centre back though so it might not be him

Could well be him, I thought he was right footed watching him but he's played at Centre back for us throughout the last few games
