Perhaps Asante has had a set back and won't be back this side of Christmas - leaving us with Rowe, Payne and Tyson? (a front 3 that won't fire us to the title).

I'm guessing of course, but there has to be some reason for us pushing the boat out (supposedly) for Tshimanga - the Trust don't come across as reckless owners that would be 'spooked' by other clubs spending.
Well ‘The Whistler’ on our forum (rumoured to be JR) has only had positive updates regarding Asante all summer, with his latest post saying he could be back as soon as late October!

So if he has had a set back you’d expect to see a further update on our forum soon regarding that

This might all be nonsense anyway - but why is it about competing financially?

Perhaps the Trust have reviewed the budget and identified extra funds that can be used to pull in a player like Tshimanga?
We don’t know the in’s and out’s of the finances at the club, but I highly doubt the Trust would ever take a decision that puts us at risk financially.

If this signing was to happen though, I’d like to hear them or JR come out and explain in brief terms to the fans how we have financed it, just to put a few minds at ease

Hahaha of course Rowe posts on your forum under a pseudonym.

I personally think it’s an agent that has a number of clients on our books, and that’s why they’re ITK…

Or maybe that’s just me being hopeful that it isn’t actually Rowe

Could be Kevin Davies? Wasn't he linked to bringing Rowe in and also linked with a number of the players subsequently signed.

Rowe seems like an ego kind of bloke and he won't be happy seeing Wrexport outspending everyone and he's super rattled triggered.. It's a clear case of trying to keep up with the muscle at the top end.

We shouldn't be trying to compete with anyone financially.

Granted the league looks much stronger this year but Sutton showed it can be done without "going for it".

And that's just it you don't need a huge budget. We started off with a mid table budget and granted a bit increased after Jan but wouldn't have troubled the top 7 for money. We managed it but this league is now awash with cash. There's probably been more money spent here than bottom half L1 and all L2 put together.

Tshimanga rumours are now all over twitter, looking like he could be announced tonight

Can’t wait for this to all just be one sick joke by some random twitter account called ‘Richard Head’ and everyone’s just fell for it

We should take inspiration from PSG/Messi and unveil him outside the crooked spire in front of 7 people and a few pigeons.

3 of the last 4 teams to get promoted haven't really splashed the cash - the only exception being Harrogate - but this coming season it's going to be hard to compete with Wrexham and Stockport for top spot. Whichever of them doesn't win it will be joined by Chesterfield and Notts County in the play offs plus probably 1-3 more ex-EFL teams. The best chance of a "traditional non-league" team going up this season is the play off lottery and sooner or later a Bromley will get there...

I was kind of joking about the penalty merchant thing, but had a look and without them Tshimanga’s minutes to goals record is extremely average. Considerably worse than Kairo Mitchell and Scott Boden last season, which is pretty funny. Suspect it’s not close to Asante, Rowe or Denton.

If Gav Gunning is classed as a ‘leader’ then you have a severe issue, the guy is an absolute buffoon

You’ve made loads this summer. Tshimanga would be another one, it’s not my money, but you’d be crazy to pay six figures for a player with his record IMO.

He's only really done it at Boreham Wood too. A fee and high wages is a bit of a gamble.
Having only really seen them when they've played against us I'd take Asante if I was offered one of the two.

Wrexham fans need to pipe up in these conversations. Was the standard of player from 2010-2016 era better than the current crop, or have the sides just become much more even all across the divisions resulting in more average players being classed as great?
Jamie Vardy and Andre Gray existed in non-league in that era. I think that alone puts those years above the current crop.

The Luton and Fleetwood sides that won the league were easily the best 2 I've seen down here.

Are people actually saying this Asante fella is better than Sir Danny Rowe, they can’t be. I must have read it wrong. As for the boreham wood striker, in my humble opinion I think he’s massively over rated

Grimsby fans - what's George Williams like - unconfirmed reports that we've signed him today.
Played for Cooper at FGR so may well be true?

Fair enough, I'm probably doing him a disservice it seems. Didn't realise he'd done his ACL, harsh that. Hope he recovers. Strikers that have a little je nais se quois are a valuable commodity down here. Alan Connell in our first season down here was the type of player nobody had for the entirety our stay, would have loved to have seen him in our later teams under Hurst.
If Alan Connell is your idea of a decent non-league striker then I guess the standard must have been really shite back then. Never seen a player be offside (or just randomly fall over) more then Connell. Except Elliot Benyon obviously.

Couldn't get in a side finishing 24th and told he can leave a conference side, make your own mind up
