Rumours of 2 more IN next week and 2 outs. No names yet. 12.30pm seems to be our favoured time with the selling club to announce the transfers, interesting times.

It’s still reckless spending though isn’t it? The fees your paying for players that have absolutely 0 resell value as a result of their age just makes them a complete non investment?

I remember when they first took over there were loads of Wrexham fans on here banging on about how they’re going to be ‘doing it properly’ building from the ground up. But spending these types of fees on 30+ year olds stinks of desperation, and I just don’t get it. There are plenty of good players at this level that would cost a fraction of the price and are 1) Younger with room to grow, and 2) as a result of the first point, would be assets with potential resale value
Quigley? You just paid £150k for him and he couldn't score in a brothel.

I heard £50k for Quigley?

I know one thing, and only judging each on recent appearances at the Hall in the last 2 weeks.

Quigley at £50k or Cardwell @ £35k, I'd take Cardwell all day long.

If you truly believe we have spent one hundred and fifty thousand pounds on Joe Quigley then you are mental

Agreed, I’m not over the moon with the 300k on Palmer. Like, what do we do with a 33 year old Ben Tozer in a couple of years in L2 (if we get promoted).

But like other others have said, we have generated plenty of money this season, and will do the same the next season. R&R look like they’re in for the long haul. We don’t seem like we’re really after the cream of the NL crop or after any loanees. Chesterfield and Stockport have signed from this level and have made lots of signings that look better than James Jones for example. But we’re still in the playoffs so who knows.

As others have said we haven't spent 'that' much on transfer fees, compared to the revenue we have coming in. I think a lot of people are underestimating how much we have brought in from our sponsorship deals. Also bear in kind that our wage budget last season was less than 1m and we lost 10 players from that squad including some of our bigger earners. I'd expect we have the biggest wage bill this season with some of the wages our new arrivals are on but it's not going to be too far off some others.

The plan is to be sustainable, and we aren't wracking up debt. But we are going from a standing start after over a decade of under investment.

Chesterfield have spent money this year, where is your money coming from? worry a little less about us.

Elliott unlikely due to his wage demands. Same as Cardwell then. Good to see the club being sensible but we really could do with a back up to Quigley and our box to box midfield would be light if Croasdale or Collar got injured, there has been almost no links to anybody midfielders though. Maybe we think we could still find options when the windows shut but I think we're in the same boat as everyone else who is finding that clubs aren't willing to let players go with needing bigger squads for Covid etc.

Wrexham will do 3-4 in this next week I'm certain. It's not if, it's who. And they won't be cheap but it's no guarantee of quality or fitting etc.

One of the Grimsby lads reckons Hurst has said he wants another 2-3 in. What started as a bit of a joke regarding Grimsby always signing players is now a genuine thing. He's getting rid of players he's already brought in this season and replacing them again. Is that not a bit of a concern on his recruitment?

A new forward is quite important. But midfield is our main weakness. We desperately need to strengthen our midfield and if we don't then we will not gonna this season. The reason we aren't doing well against the top teams this season is down to having a lightweight ilkidfield who just got outplayed. We can cope against the smaller teams as we are.

Worth noting that we have played 9 home games and 14 away games so far this season. Which might have a bearing come the end of the season....

We’re 10 at home with 13 away so far but we’re basically spending February playing at EP.

Insurance pay out, bigger gates than we budgeted for and our new African contingent splurging in the club shop post-Chelsea.

Hiya Stocky, quick genuine question. Do you think your board have an eye on the wage budget and salary cap coming in next season and that is an influence on missing out on a couple of transfer targets?

For us having had to work under one last season, Grimsby too, that may be why we have a bit of space in our wage budget possibly, your thoughts?

I’ll answer that question for you.

No. We don’t believe it’s coming in and certainly not in the guise that the likes of King’s Lynn and Dover want.

Parkinson says he is hopefully of getting 1 or 2 over the line this week. I'd personally rule us out of a top 3 spot if that's the case, massively short in midfield need atleast 2 in there. Atleast 1 forward to help Mullin out. Arguably playing our best RB at LB as well so I'd be happy to see a quality LB in.

Unless we've got someone else lined up Palmer will be going no where .We simply won't let him go without a replacement.Last week of January so the deal looks unlikely.

Had to build an entire new squad from scratch and he's got a fair few wrong, plus loans being recalled. Happy to discuss further if you actually want to read it.

Yeah, I reckon you'll have played an equal amount of home and away games by the end of the season and those matches will indeed play a pivotal role in deciding where you finish in the league.

Are you pleased with yourself after that?

Or do you not think having a majority of remaining games at home might give some sort of advantage? more than having mainly away games anyway.

I expect better of you tbh.

Would a fairer point to make be that your home record is bang average and your away record superb, so maybe it’s actually a disadvantage for you?

Can see a few Notts and Grimsby fans getting blocked by the Hollywood massive. Love Sunday fishing.

We're going to be signing Ethan Coleman from Kings Lynn I've heard. A rare occasion when I know little about a player apart form that he is a central midfielder.

No, funnily enough I actually think that having shitloads of money and being able to buy players the rest of the division can only dream of is what will give you some sort of advantage in the second half of the season.

And yeah I was pleased with myself after that, but I'm upgrading that to very pleased after that TRIGGERING.
