Blackburn, Huddersfield, Birmingham and Barnsley all after Wootton before Monday, according to the Daily Mail.

Obviously love the guy, but struggling to see any kind of case for him being good enough for teams at that level to be honest.

I dunno, Barnsley and Birmingham I can see being interested, Huddersfield have done spectacularly well out of Sorba Thomas who I was never massively impressed with down here, so you never know. Blackburn though, up in 2nd, I’d be surprised as you say. Bit of money too, I could see them having a big money punt on Tshimanga or someone

Expecting McFadzean and a couple of midfielders in before the deadline.
We only really have Young and Davies in midfield. JJ could have a broken nose , DJ is too old, Jarvis is unreliable.

Indeed, most likely thing will be a bun fight for him on a free in the summer. Suspect he’ll get a great move then because teams will be willing to take a risk on him on a free, so probably works out for all parties.

I guess someone could panic and offer us £100k or something now which we’d probably have to accept. If, say, Blackburn really did come in for him as well I don’t really think we could stand in the way of a move that could see him in the Premier League next season, but I’m not sure I really believe that anyway.
Even then though - £100k and you lose your main striker and team focal point. Its a big risk to take when your owners are hardly strapped for cash. Ref. standing in his way if Blackburn came in - surely just agree to allow the player to leave in the summer on a free and keep him. If I were a Notts fan I'd be annoyed if he were sold, you can't leverage a price because of the lack of contract left but also he will be difficult to replace. I'd keep him.

If that is actually the sort of money Notts are being offered, it's a massive shout not to cash in and get fuck all in the summer. I reckon they could replace him OK, maybe they've got something ready if they do get a certain offer. I notice that Campbell at Woking was left out on Tuesday night with the implication of it being around his future. If Notts were smart and got a £100k offer for Wooton late in the day, they could take it and then buy a Campbell because they could do if after the window shuts.

I think that’s the most likely outcome, but with the way we’re run if there’s a young striker somewhere that we like the look of and can get it in for a small fee while turning a profit on Wootton, it wouldn’t surprise me that much if we did it.

They aren’t the same kind of player though.

As seen by us not securing anybody yet and Wrexham and Chesterfield overpaying for Palmer and Quigley the targetman/point striker market is barren.

It’s going to be interesting to see the reaction to our first sales actually. The club’s as united as it’s been for a long time behind the ‘buy young, play great footballer, sell them’ on banner, but I don’t know how much of that is because we’ve not got to the last bit yet and how much people might wobble when Wootton, Rodrigues, Roberts etc move on and are replaced by young unknowns.

There’s definitely the two kind of unspoken realities at Notts of our style of football not being just Burchnall’s whim but imposed from the top down because that’s how you get bigger clubs to notice and pay up for your players, and that we canned Ardley for IB not because we think the latter is the perfect man to get you promotion from this league but has been identified as an outstanding coach who will keep adding value to the technically gifted young players the board finds for him.

We play with a target man because we have Wootton rather than the other way around. Every chance we’ll replace him with someone completely different whether now or in the summer.

Same as always, the teams doing well in a season, certainly in the lower leagues, reach January and have the decision to make as bids come in for their best players, take the cash and hopefully replace or hold onto the player(s) and maintain the push for promotion.

can be a delicate balance......

Sam Barratt would be a top signing. Doesn't look like he's played since November though
He was very good against us. Wiki reckons he's got 20 in 38 during his current stint at Maidenhead, is that right?

Southend are well set in terms of location, they could well end up doing what Barnet used to do (still do?), in terms of hoovering up a lot of the London/South East talent

Nor can I, and his knee injury was really serious, could be a contributory factor in why he has only played roughly half the season so far.

Need to prise him out of Connor Stevens pocket first:)

Expect a lot of rumours and links at Wrexham over the next few days, PP needs to stock up a little as we won't be able to sign anyone...Makes the Mcfadzean 'signing' a bit more understandable.

On that note, still no confirmation who the player was holding the scarf on the pitch was, looks nailed on that it is Mcfadzean, it's been 'confirmed' several places that he has signed. Strange that we haven't announced it, but i'd guess s that we are holding it back for a media double announcement, my opinion is we would only do that if the second signing was a big one otherwise why wait?!

Links around are that Callum Guy has been to the Racecourse, also that we are apparently in talks with Crewe about a midfielder, people are hoping it's Lowrey (Ha) but I think it's wires crossed about Mcfadzean.

I'd expect an announcement tomorrow.

I'd sell every player in the squad before Kyle Wootton. He's made us competitive three seasons running and I've never see us look remotely like a promotion winning team when we've rested him in cup games.
He'll be gone in the summer but promotion is worth £1 million at least per season to the club so selling him now for anything less than £350,000 plus sell ons seems a poor decision.

Torn as on one hand, letting Wootton go would end any chance of promotion…on the other, excited to see Burchnall’s adaptation, think he’d play Roberts as a false 9 or something.

Don’t seriously see any Champ club putting in a offer for him anyway, just smells of an agent linking a load of clubs to entice a reckless last minute offer.

My time at
@KTFCOfficial
has come to an end. I couldn’t be more grateful to have spent the last year at a better club around great people, players and fans. You have welcomed and supported me since I signed and provided me with a platform to showcase my ability.

The above from Callum Powell's twitter account. Will be in our squad for Saturday apparently.

I think if Ron wasn't the owner we'd have a chance with Barratt, as it is I think he'd rather go anywhere else. He looked decent for us before he got a terrible injury and look good enough for League 1 when he came back but he was one who suffered at the hands of Ron's lack of funding. If his fitness/injury issues aren't bad then he is certainly better than this level.

As for why he's not playing, is he actually injured? Maybe the Maidenhead fans on here know more but he disappeared from the Maidenhead squad when they first had covid issues, you have to wonder whether he's suffering from long covid cos information about why he's not playing seems hard to find.

someones signing Zak Dearney from Oldham apparently

Could see it being us but not heard anything our end. Wild will probably know him from his time at Oldham and it’s no secret we are looking for attacking signings. Plus, we do love an injury prone player. Fits the bill.

Surely you’re not after another undersized striker?

He was asking for increase in pay following a massive injury and a relegation. I’m not surprised he didn’t get what he wanted

Gold Omotayo is completely different to a target man if that helps. Does the fact that he scored his only league goal (I would say 'to date' but that would imply there is another coming this season) against you count for anything?
