A Bradford paper has reported that we're interested in Richard O'Donnell - make of that what you will, but if true would be a fantastic signing.

Also - Steven Davies released from B'pool - I'd certainly take another punt on him!

Good lad is Rich, ex Rivelin school kid, decent keeper, lower end Championship level.

Signed Jed Wallace for 275k. Well happy with that.
Very good value for him. We're well stocked in midfield so I'm not too bothered, but it's a very good signing for Wolves. A couple more signings like that and they should be challenging at the top this coming season.

I was pleased originally as had assumed he was Scottish with a name like that, turns out he isn't, so he now needs to work to win me over. Can't say I know who he is, but my pompy mate that I know called me a stupid Wolves fuck for us signing him, so I am pleased with that reaction.

That doesn't mean much. Yes we've gone up so we get more money but all the wages we were paying now go up. We won't have the money to spend £500K on anyone. All the money from Alli is going into the training ground and our "transfer budget" will mostly all be wages.

Robbo has only spent £100K in his time here according to Toby Lock, he isn't going to spend 5 times that on one player.

There is no way that can be true considering the rumour was £150,000 for Kyle McFadzean (it was confirmed as six figures by the Crawley chairman) and £100,000 for Samir Carruthers just last summer.

Signed Jed Wallace for 275k. Well happy with that.

Pompey mates definitely unhappy with this. Surprised at the low figure given he's only one year into a contract. I reckon Pompey need him more than us and I suspect he'll either be a really huge hit or he'll be loaned out to a L1 club. Is he better than Price, Evans or Daaaaaaave?

I'd like to have also put Whatmough and Gosport Borough's Paterson in Moxey's Range Rover for the trip back up the A34, tbh. It would be good to see Paterson given a trial at least.

I can't tell when you're being serious or not, but Paterson belongs in non-league.

Well done anyway Wolves on upsetting Pompey fans.

£275k is the buy out clause in Wallace's contract. Bargain for Wolves, you would have had to pay a good 3 or 4 times that amount for his signature without it.

Wallace goes with our blessing. He was always going to leave and even though we can squinny about the low fee, he could have left us for nothing last summer and we may well have been relegated without him.

Wolves have a player who isn't afraid to run at defenders and for a 20-year-old he has a lot of character and bottle. He won't be one to shrink if fans start getting on his back. On the flip side, he often tries to do too much by himself (might be down to not trusting his shit team mates at Pompey) and his decision making is poor, but that will develop as he gets older.

I can only hope we inserted a sell-on clause into his contract!

Interesting, not sure how buy out clauses work, wonder if you would have any power to have said the buyout is 275k plus 10% of next transfer etc or if you can't do that for some reason.

Wouldn't seem that unreasonable with the clause being so low. Could have easily have got him signed to a bigger release clause i'm sure. Possibly could have got more than £275k if he had gone to tribunal too.

Still wondering why Reading didn't try to sign him. Not just this time but throughout his career.

The buy out clause simply meant that we couldn't reject any bids equal to or higher than 275k and therefore it's up to the player as to where they want to go and we'd have no power to stop them. I believe Fulham actually offered Pompey more but Jed preferred to go to Wolves.

Whatmough is currently injured but I imagine he'll be the next player we lose.

Can't blame Wallace for choosing Wolves over Fulham, no brainer.

Fulham linked with Diagouraga from us.

No idea how to value this one, we were willing to let him go for almost nothing last summer, and he won player of the year by the end of the year. I'm guessing he won't go and will stick around.

Also, who is Swindon's player of the year? I've not heard anything about us being interested, but we have signed their POTY pretty often over the last couple of years. (Pritchard, Douglas, McCormack)

Luongo I'd imagine, but it won't get announced until after the PO final I don't think.

Serious about Paterson. A fair few players have come on later in their careers (Michael Kightley did great for us in the Championship, and Jody Craddock didn't really 'arrive' until his mid-20s) and sometimes great players real abilities are well-masked by their behaviour off the pitch. Dan Bennett (no idea where he is right now, but he was with Farnborough Town....a bit of a bright light in their disastrous season) is another one who could possibly make it at a higher level.

So yeh, I'd give Paterson a trial and see how he holds up against Championship players. Sean Raggett's another one I'd have stuffed in the Wolves mayoral Range Rover while it was touring South Coast ferry ports, before the PL clubs finish their season and get down here.

Is it OK if we come down again when he's fit and take him from you for a pathetically desultory fee? We don't mind you paying his BUPA bills for now though.

Sure why not, tell you what we'll slap a £50,000 release clause on all our players and you can come down anytime you want and have a look at who you'd like next. Maybe in return you could loan us someone from your Under 18's or even better yet get the people who built your new stand to come down.

You'll get up this season. Cook knows his stuff. It wouldn't surprise me if some loaners weren't part of the Wallace deal......perhaps George Saville (you won't sell many kids shirts with his name on it though), Ibrahim Keita or Bradley Reid..as he's still well connected to us. Cook has always been very complementary about Jackett.

Ben "Boris Johnson" Pringle refuses to sign new Rotherham contract. Genuinely sorry for Millers fans because he really was an impressive player: gave us a lot of problems. I'd be happy for him to come to Wolves but suspect he'll be looking for a PL club and think he'll find one.

We were linked with him last summer before we got Pritchard. I'd imagine we'd be in for him again. His delivery would be useful given how bad we are at set pieces. Not sure we'd be able to convince him to come though.

"Us" being Newcastle (Reply = "Would make sense and could work") or Brentford (Reply = "Yeh, right.")?

Ben Pringle, Premier League... Really?

Always thought he'd be a good player at L1/NPC level but never the PL. Didn't see/hear much about him last season.

Haha. Always assume I'm talking about Brentford. Don't see any reason why he wouldn't come to us.
