Was quality in L1 and would probably do alright in the championship if given game time, would be surprised by £750k though, think we got quoted a fair bit higher in Jan.

We've bid 750k for Matt Smith of Fulham, anyone rate him?
Decent player. Was superb for us in L1. He's a big old lump but can play a fair bit too. Unstoppable in the air and I wouldn't want to be too close if he went up against Flinty next season! A clever front man who would be comfortable in a pair or up on his own.
As an aside, he's seriously intelligent as well, degree qualified I believe plus his parents live in the South Midlands IIRC so it may suit him to move.
We (the fans) would like him back here but little Lee doesn't appear interested.

Was just going to post about it in here.

Was good in L1 for us, not done much with Fulham but was alright with Leeds. Personally I have never wanted him here permanently, but he may do well for you. Big presence, will contribute with the odd goal - could do well alongside Dicko.

The mighty Brewers according to the local rag are looking to bring in Aaron Pierre from Wycombe and Jackson Irvine from Raith Rovers.
Would be happy with both of those.

The problem I had with Smith was NOT of his own making. Because he's such a big lad, we tended to go long too often when he was a far better footballer than people gave him credit for. I can understand why the tendency to go long happened but it didn't make for good viewing, especially when we knew we could out play most of the teams in that league at the time.

I'd be happy to sign Smith, but it sounds like a signing that is accepting our fate as a long ball midtable outfit. He's not going to be a striker (like Afobe was for us) who's going to fire you to the top end of the league, but he could be a player who gets around 10-15 goals a season.

Reminds me a bit of when we first signed Sam Vokes from Bournemouth. Most fans don't seem to happy about it, but I think some of our fans need to stop living in the past, and accept we are a midtable side at best.

Aaron Pierre is a decent centre back and we might get a sell on fee. Whether he's ready for the Championship would be the question, but if you're seeking strong L2 affordable players with the potential to develop above L1 level, then I reckon you're looking at the right type of player there.

That's the thing though Mark, he's more than a long ball striker. He's no Afobe certainly and nearer to a Vokes type player but he's a good footballer as much as a big lump.
He Is mahoosive mind!

Gary O'Neil's a good signing for Bristol City. What he doesn't have on the pitch he makes up for in his influence both on the pitch and in the dressing room. You can tell he's good to just have around the place especially for a fairly young team like Bristol City. Been promoted in his last two Championship seasons as well.

Gives our wingers something to aim for in the box I suppose. Hopefully we don't get into the habbit of our centre halfs just lumping it up time and time again. If we do sign him Jackett will probably just play him up front on his own in away matches :ffs:

Only rumour of note around the Albion so far is that we're apparently interested in Jordan Cousins from Charlton. Would be happy with that, if so. Just hope it's to complement our current centre-mids, and not a replacement for one of them.

I agree mate. We've lacked a target man ever since Kevin Doyle left us, and he didn't really have much effect for us since our Premier League days. Sadly though I think Jackett is going to turn us into a hoofball team. He has been publically pressured by Moxey that if results don't improve, his job will be on the line. I think he will adapt long ball tactics next season over playing decent football, and as boring as that is for us fans to watch every week, it will probably get results in this league.

Feel for any of us poor sods who've invested in a season ticket next season, gonna be long ball football all season long

Smith's useful for any team in this league. Still rates as one of the most stupid sales we've made in recent years. Obviously less impact than some better players, but so unnecessary and then we needed a big man for the whole season!

Rumour or fact mate? We're building a half tidy midfield if it's true.
OTIB is awash with waflle at the mo.
Me old man's got a mate who works on the BBC Bristol sport desk, reckons it's done.

I've given up with OTIB, you go on there and there's an extra two pages on every transfer thread (of which there are many), far too time consuming.

Daily Mail reporting that Fulham are interested in Emyr Huws and considering paying the 2.5 million we want. If it's true it'd be great to get it done as quickly as possible, then we could throw the money at that attacking midfielder from Gillingham with the long hair that everyone keeps talking about.

I hope they do, personally it gives me great pleasure seeing them bottle it year on year after spending the most cash in the division.

Get a grip youth.

I see the knives are back out for us, I don't really want us to spend as much as we did last year but I do enjoy how precious everyone is about it.

Well OTIBs current ITK (who has been spot on since last summer) has just said Tomlin will sign. I presume if true it will be at least 10 days until anything official because of his honeymoon

Another deal looking likely, Adam Reach on a season long loan. Seems like were trying to get our business done early this year.

Christ, you've got to be the 4th or 5th club linked with him for that sort of money. I absolutely don't blame Fulham at all for holding out for that sort of money for him given how much they paid for him, but £12m+ for a 30 year old? Really?!

It's so obviously going to happen. Stockhausen is unveiling teaser upon teaser, I think he knows that he's already signed a deal.

One of the players Stubbs was believed to be bringing with him (Stokes) is in talks with Fulham. Not happening for Rotherham then.
