I read somewhere he's played 350+ games at this level. For a sub goalkeeper, providing he's on a low wage I don't think it's a bad deal. To be honest I was expecting us to sign some dross from L1/L2.
He's a good close range shot stopper with great reactions but any long range shots or crosses and he is clueless. I still love him though.

We won't be signing Matty Taylor, Matthew Benham has said no when asked about him.

By the sounds of his interview he chose us as he liked the sound of the 'project' that Johnson told him and wanted to be involved with it at an early stage.

All I'm gonna say is he better be bloody good with the amount of wages he's eating up.
Depends how much more we can spend with the completed ground, if the money gives us the opportunity to bring in 1, 2 or 3 more players of similar value I won't be concerned O'Neill seems to add what we're lacking, if he's our marquee signing I may be more concerned adding where we have Smith and Pack, speaking of which will be interesting to see LJ's preferred CM combo.

But crucially at the end of the season we only had Pack and Smith for CM. Now we have Brownhill, O'Neil, Pack and Smith.

Sounds like we offered him a one year contract and that was a big deciding factor. A decent player who does the basics well which every team needs but far from irreplaceable.

Good signing for Bristol is that.

Jack Payne to be announced when he's finished his holiday.

Simon Terrode of Bochum keeps getting mentioned but I don't see it happening as he will cost at least £2million

Free SERNWA, falsely exiled.

Btw giving massive wages to a 33 year old on a 2 year deal is ludicrous and then you find out it's Garry O'neill. Priceless.

If ever there was a no mark average footballer it was Garry O'neill.

Pissing money away in Bristol while Tomlins talking to others.

Bristol City transfer rumour update  They have Bournemouth on speed dial it seems.
Lewis Grabban, according to an article in their paper.

Can't see it though. Howe loves Grabban, has done for years. Grabban features a fair bit for us off the bench, and I can't see that changing. Also he cost us £7m in January supposedly, which was unbelievable. City won't want to repay us that surely.

Deal close with Grabban apparently. He's 28 and will cost big. Fuck that.

Shh, Bristol city related things aren't allowed.

Lee Johnson said recently that a player who turned us down before has changed their mind over a move here because of the stadium (or words to that effect) only person I've seen us linked to that fits this is Grabban.

Not saying it's going to happen, probably a case of 2+2=5

Edit- we could probably do the fee, it's wages that would make it unlikely

Any idea what he'd be on wage wise with you? Imagine that's the bigger problem then the fee, maybe a case you've got the premier league money for another year you're setting your sights higher and won't need him?

Hazard a guess at low - mid 20s a week, which is what most of the squad players tend to be around (including good old Tomlin)

He, like Grabban will cost what we want, been told Grabban is now a target and keen to come north. Not keen myself but our warchest is circa 20m.

Can't see it then unless he'd be willing to take a big wage drop.

Oh and mentioning 'he who shall not be named' in this thread

We're not daft.

When was the last time Rotherham acquired a player and then actually made a profit when selling them on? I see, according to Transfer Markt, that you made £20k on Revell over a two year period... that's been it over the past two years.

In fact, I'd say the Rotherham transfer policy is rubbish. Very little long term planning and investment in players, and as a result, loads of players coming in (loads and loads), and a fair few going out... but sod all profit being generated. I'd say "daft" is probably an apt description of your transfer policy and that your owner only really looks to keep the club above water as opposed to pushing on! Granted the club is obviously towards the "skint end" of the Championship, but surely investing wisely in reasonable transfer fees instead of quite literally signing every player under the sun on 1-2 year contracts might yield a better result?

Blame Steve Evans for that shit.

Exactly what Walkley said.

Most think that the 88 players Evans signed were what the apparent fall out with TS was about.

The appointment of Redfearn was meant to change all that, but his results were so poor, he failed to keep his job long enough to find out.

We await the Stubb's approach with interest.

I have to agree about our transfer policy been shite since we've been in the championship, just a shit load of past it players in the 30's or just players who are simply not good enough and binned after a couple of matches. It looks like were not gonna go down this route anymore as Alan Stubbs main priority is to buy young players and try and make a profit which was one of the first things he said in his interviews. We haven't made any profit at all over the last few seasons with players but we have 2 young players atm who we bought who could be worth a few bob if they continue to improve in Clarke-Harris and Newell. I think this season you will see a different transfer policy from us and better quality players coming in from the 2 previous seasons.
