We've been linked to him as well, however as it was public I more expect it to be a message to Sunderland saying we're prepared to move on from Matthews if you're not willing to sell him soon.

What, inconsistent? In fairness, I like Russell. He's not a guaranteed starter for us, though, so I can see us selling. I do think, however, we will want daft money. I'd probably say he's comparable to Hendrick in terms of ability, if not better. He's certainly more of an asset to us at the moment anyway. As for Hughes, if we genuinely want £10m for Jeff feckin' Hendrick.. I don't know what on earth we'd ask for if someone came in for Hughes.

I just don't think it's worth predicting - no team would be willing to pay it.

I think McLaughlin is a good L1 player, not sure he would cut it week in, week out at this level.

Warnock got what he could out of him but he was never fully fit all the time he was with us but still managed a strike rate of 1 in 4.

Better than Kodija and that's based on the two times I saw him against us, where realistically he should have has a field day with our ageing defence.
