Looks like we're letting Lewis McGugan go if the right offer comes in, shame because he's a really talented footballer but he doesn't fit into Carlos' high tempo style, and his wages could be better used elsewhere. Can do a job for any side in the top end of this division, just shows how far we've come that a player like him can't get into our midfield.

As mentioned up the thread, Reading after Van Der Vaart on a freebie - that'd be fascinating if it came off! His set pieces and delivery would surely be worth a few goals, even if his legs can't match the pace of the league. Which lets face it, was never his game anyway. I doubt any of those would have any interest in grafting through the Championship, so I'm sure you're happy to be shot of them. Trim the fat and work with a tight group who want to be there. Sounds good to me.

He was really solid under Steve Clarke and then his form dipped under McDermott. His fitness has always been questionable. He was on a big wage, so it would be interesting to see if you'll come near to matching it.

Ferdinand would be a good signing for anyone in the league, when he is fit enough to play.
