Has never been able to run in fairness, always relied on positioning and reading of the game. Might struggle to adapt to a less familiar team/playing style though as he knew our system inside out.

We're apparently chasing Duffy from them too (along with a load of other clubs), so I don't know how the rest of their defence will shape up. Certainly seem to be downgrading anyhow.
We are after Duffy too, Spurr has moved on, they could be in the shit.

SERNWA is a dick but he's harmless. Doesn't merit a ban at all.

Just think this place needs to be careful not to go overboard imo.

Once you realise he's a WUM you don't have to worry, he's actually pretty knowledgeable about football and has a decent inside track at Rotherham.

I don't think you should be advocating people having a wank to be honest.
:lol::lol::lol:

Why not, people could do with letting off a bit of steam. Stop bitching and look at Walkley's avatar for a bit

Dave Nugent linked with us, not sure if he's past it now?

Also really hope Ciderup comes back, a great poster on here.

Ciderup can return whenever he pleases. He's been made unwelcome by no one.

If is in for Fraizer Campbell it should be us. Huddersfield lad and has always made it known he'd come play for us. Wages would be a stumbling block though, could see it happening if we sold Wells..

Derby... why on earth haven't you made a single signing? I was about to put you 2nd in my predicted table until I saw that. Pearson's had pretty much all summer hasn't he?

Pearson is happy with the squad, but I doubt we'll go the whole transfer window without making at least one signing - I imagine it will be a fairly significant one at that.

Ultimately, last season, we didn't have our best player for almost the entirety of the campaign in Will Hughes. We struggled with Clement's, er, well, whatever 'type' of football Clement was trying to impose on the squad. Fitness was a massive issue and he took almost everything good about our game and made it worse. Although I do have to say, to his credit, he also turned some of the things not so good about our game into positives.

Wassall came in and provided a bit of excitement and flair to our game. It was undermined by his inexperience, certainly. Nevertheless, he took a team low on morale and made us good (at times) again. All our best performances last season came under Wassall, but it could be argued a few of our worst came under him too.

I think, and I'm sure 99% of people who have a sound knowledge of Derby will agree on, Pearson has more about him in terms of management than Wassall and Clement. I don't think it's even debatable. Pearson's MAIN task is getting the best out of those that were inconsistent or didn't perform last season. Bradley Johnson is certainly one to consider; he had his worst season in professional football last season, yet we know that's not his level, we know he can do better. If he can knock any kind of consistency into Jeff Hendrick, who was poor last season, then he has the potential to be a fantastic player at this level. He's put his faith into the likes of Darren Bent and Nick Blackman who are thriving in pre-season and look almost certain to play big parts of us this season. He was raving about Nick Blackman yesterday, commenting 'he has a wealth of untapped potential'.

Pearson hasn't come in and over complicated the issue. He seems more than happy refining the structure and getting the most out of what he has at his disposal. He's promoted a number of young players, most notably Max Lowe, into the first team. He's been a kid who was well known to Derby fans when he was still in nappies due to his potential, like Rashford, it could be a case of throwing him in at the deep end and seeing whether he's up to it. It was unfortunate that he spent the whole of last season out with injury, well most of it anyway.

I understand there is no guarantees in football. I, however, did think as gambles go that Pearson was the smallest. He's not an erratic manager, and he's been in a very similar situation before and achieved the target. I'm hopeful that we have more players improve than regress this season, which should see us at the very least consolidate on the play-off position we achieved last season.

Saw some Barnsley fan in here too, is it Accorn brewery that's from Barnsley? Good stuff that.

Linked with Frazier Campbell and rumours abound that we've had a 2m bid rejected for Adam Reach.

Both Nigel Adkins and Steve Clarke raved about Nick Blackman and how good he is in training. Unfortunately he only managed to untap for about 2/3 months under Steve Clarke in the 3 years here.

It was like watching two different players.

Good player Reach, works hard, good touch and can play in a few positions but could do with improving his goal tally. Don't think i'd want us to spend 2m on him but then again with the crazy prices nowadays he probably is worth it. Not that we would ever spend 2m on a player.

Well this thread got... Interesting.

In other news, we've had a bid accepted for McCormack, looks like he's heading our way. Sorry, Norwich! Meant to be having a medical today.

Gana has gone to Everton, not that fussed, stats wise he looked almost as good as Kante last season, what people don't tell you is that most of his tackles/interceptions came from his own bloody mistakes.

Clark is expected to sign for Newcastle some time today/tomorrow, again, meh. He was better than Lescott/Richards, and that's about the best I can say for him.

Sanchez is expected to go on loan to Fiorentina with a buy option just to get him off the books.

So we're finally making some moves. We've also reportedly drawn up a list of potential midfield 'enforcers' and attacking midfield players. Squad is certainly taking shape, whether it'll work is another question, but it's certainly getting there.

We've both been linked with Luis Alberto of Liverpool this morning too.

That might be the attacking midfielder we're after then. Either that, or a replacement for Sinclair.

So while Villa have hijacked Norwich's deal for Ross McCormack, Norwich have themselves hijacked Brighton's deal for Alex Pritchard according to SSN.

Cut throat this Championship transfer business.

If Norwich get Pritchard and either Assombalonga or Kodija I'd say they've done better business than they would have by just getting McCormack.

We've sacked off Lee Nicholls to MK Dons on a free, doesn't look like we'll have time to sign anyone else before Saturday. No big deal, I'd rather wait as long as possible if it means we get quality rather then a panic buy.

Max Power's just signed a one year extension which means he'll be going nowhere this window. Means we won't get shafted in January or next summer because he'll still have 2 years left on his contract.

Clark to Newcastle confirmed. I would wish him luck, but I have an irrational hatred of Newcastle.

Clark confirmed. As JTV has said from his end, it's a very meh signing but a necessary meh. We essentially need a utility player and that's exactly what he'll be. £5M in this day and age is peanuts too.
