On the other hand, we signed 13 new players, 7 of which started against Villa, and have already looked better than we have done for... well, ever.

Bid rejected for Callum Paterson at Hearts, we're expected to make a second offer. He's in the last year of his contract so they're in a tough bargaining position.

Kind of hoping we don't sign him, Luke Burke looks a real talent. Only just turned 18 and looks mature far beyond his age, great control and delivery going forward and has been sound defensively so far. Reminds me of Leighton Baines when he first came through. Let's develop this lad, then sell for a big fee......

Linked with Sebastien Haller from FC Utrecht. Never heard of the guy but it looks unlikely as both Monaco and Sporting are linked with him too.
We came quite close to signing him last summer, but then he had a cracking end to the previous season and his price went through the roof. Looks a very calm finisher.

We're waiting for any former loan players or targets to become available because Grayson only signs people who will polish his crusty helmet.

It's that Ian bloke yes JonBCFC, and the player he mentioned that we'd bid £7m for is Jordan Rhodes. Stupid if true.

Tom Adeyemi in on loan from Cardiff, not sure why we need another holding midfield player when we have enough as it is and lack numbers in other positions.

Supposedly us and Fulham are fighting it out for James Wilson on loan.

Didn't seem to be all that at Brighton. Hope Fulham get him.
He wasn't really. Had a promising start but seemed forever dogged by illness and only really showed occasional flashes of his talent. When we needed him to deliver in front of goal at the crunch last season he came up short. I'm sure we didn't see the best of him though.
£4million bid from Brighton for Shane Duffy. Don't they have enough strikers?
Ha. That would work better if we weren't actually short of strikers still! Only have 3 for 2 positions as things stand.

Not sure if there's any substance to the reported bid, but despite our much improved recruitment since Hughton came in we're still pretty adept from time to time at making ourselves look a bit foolish.

Burke's our only fit right back and he's not got the endurance to play 90 minutes yet. It'd be utter stupidity if we didn't sign a right back and relied on an 18 year old kid who we have to sub off after an hour every game. Thankfully based on our recent bids for the likes of Brayford, Vela and now Paterson, Caldwell must agree.

Have Wolves actually signed any of these multi million pound superstars yet?

Wasn't someone from Benfica signing for £22m or something earlier this week?

If they have, how do they propose to get round FFP spending those sorts of sums? Still getting parachute payments?

He's 20. Far too young to be judging him on his past and picking him apart.

I'm happy with the signing. I don't necessarily think we need a striker anyway, much prefer the money spent on a decent winger or two.

Oh I don't want him, a signing like that with his wages and ego could destroy the spirit and ethic of the club...

It's more about shock to be honest, I'm used to us signing players from leagues 1 and 2, being linked with world renown footballers is not something I'm used to as a Wolves fan.

Lots of Wolves fans are very sceptical about it all. We've seen how money can propel teams to the top of the game, but it can easily destroy clubs. For every Man City, there is a Portsmouth.

You'd be one of very few teams stupid enough to pay his wages I'd be willing to bet.

There is no happy ending for any of this for you.

It wont happen, just like Talisca he's using the club to garner more attention from Europe.

Speaking of Talisca, looks like he is heading to Besiktas.

Wages would probably be an issue anyway.
Given it was well publicised about Rhodes getting big wages, it would be a strange move for the club to make a move for him if we can't afford his wages, would signal that we haven't learned the lessons of last summer. However have to have faith in LJ and Ashton given what's happened since Lee's arrival.

It wouldn't mean lessons aren't learnt at all, we may pull off a deal like we did when we signed JET and only be paying a portion of the wages

50% of wages (if like JET) would still be £25,000 a week and didn't we get Tomlin down to £20,000 a week for it to be at our limit? To then take a second player on at those wages would be risky, while its obviously a higher quality of player than before it seems to me a call back to before when we were in this division handing out big contracts.

Depends if Boro want to get rid or not.
Rhodes is entitled to the £50k a week he signed for at Boro for the duration of that contract. If we offered say £15k a week then it's possible we could negotiate with Boro for them to pay the remaining £35k p/w until the end date if the contract he signed with them, even if that meant a higher initial transfer fee.

That said, I don't believe the Rhodes rumour for a second.

Anyway, don't rate him. Underwhelmed.

How much have you seen of him Jimmy?

You only have to look at last seasons dealings to see how big names and big transfers don't always work out. He might be a good fit, he might not. Let's give him a chance first.

We've signed Vincent Sasso on a permanent. Was here on loan last season and is a more than adequate back up for centre half. A few Wednesdayites are whining but to get a centre half better than hutchinson or lees we're going to have to pay serious money

I don't think FFP won't be that much of an issue.
Under the new rules clubs in the Championship clubs are allowed to make a loss of £39m over a three year period.
Even then a wealthy owner can put more money into the club in the form of equity.
In addition the sanctions are hardly a deterrent compared to the massive money to be made in the 'promised land'.
