Gustav Engvall confirmed, undisclosed amount however suspected £2.5m

Edit - Fee now reported closer to £2.5m, however not sure as wouldn't that be a club record?

2.5 for someone who is injured

Surprised at the fee, seems incredibly high after the fees being talked about earlier by the clubs, especially if there is a sell on available afterwards too. Really like Henry and very happy with the signing, but got to imagine the add on clauses are quite unlikely!

It makes sense now given all the hype around him with Spurs, I know the club were very unwilling to be sold down the river on Henry as he is by far our best youth prospect ever, we won't have been taken easily on the add-ons as thats where the money is really to be made. £1.5m rising up to £5m+ is a good deal for both parties. I would imagine some are far-fetched, but I'd imagine there is some fairly simple ones too, I know how highly Smith rated him (quoted him as the best player he had ever seen at the age of 18) so there will be some regulation stuff in there - 50 appearances, promotion, England appearances etc.

All in all, I'm happy with it, especially as I say, he has been given a few lessons on defending since SOD took over.

We're able to spread the initial fee over the length os his contract as per FFP (not relating to the payment schedule to you guys) so our FFP parameters for this transfer work out at £300k per season. Pretty decent.

I imagine that around £1.5m of add ons would be on promotion to the EPL with another £.5m-£1m on staying up. Plus a load of immediately likely and some less likely add-ons. Would seem to be a good deal for both parties. It does look, however, that we'll be operating on that should of his and I'd therefore be surprised to see him start this side of Christmas, meaning thw 50 appearances add-on might take a bit longer. Can't wait to see him in action.

Also, I should add that this transfer has played out almost exactly as I predicted it would on this thread toward the end of May ;) I'm allowed to be smug about this as I'm on holiday and have been slightly drunk for three days running :)

He's an absolute joy to watch. So good going forward and will absolutely skin players. Defensively however he is a little erratic but his pace has helped him make up for mistakes, not sure whether he will be able to get away with it so much in the Championship though. His form was outstanding up until Deano leaving and since then he has been rather average, so hopefully he can find some better form under Deano again.

Kaikai signed on loan, also has an injury problem so unlikely to play straight away

George Moncur has gone on loan to Peterborough. Strange one and I can only assume it being down to us not being able to guarantee first team football at the moment.

Didn't you only just sign him this summer?

Wish we had the scouting network that Brentford have, they've signed some brilliant players.

Might loan myself to be a Brentford fan for a while until we get our act together :ds:

Just check the PFA team of the year for League One last year, that's mostly what Brentford have done!

They beat us to John Egan. Think it's more than just a good scouting network. Their a club based in a rich part of London with a good reputation and track record of signing players, developing them and selling them on without standing in their way. They also have a lot of cash behind them, a sizeable chunk made from recent transfers out but at the same time Matthew Benham certainly has deep pockets if needed.

Literally nothing for us.. Consigning ourselves to bottom half.

How it was possible to end the Summer with a weaker strikeforce than the shambles of last season i'll never know.

So Barnsley have loaned out Moncur to make space for Sam Morsy to come in on loan from Wigan. Bit odd

I doubt we are beating other championship clubs to signings because of wages, we don't offer much at all and lose most of our players because we refuse to break our tight wage structure.

Egan was largely because we'd been after him for most of a year, so had shown that we really wanted him. Also we've got quite a good reputation of developing players these days and helping them to a higher level, which definitely helps a lot.

Vermijl and Baptiste are done. To be officially confirmed soon. Looks like PNE aren't done there too. Might be a surprise third on the way

We'll probably sign a third right back.

Two down! Also Morsy and Colclough out on season long loans to Barnsley and MK Dons. Very good move for both especially Colclough who will do really well there while still our player. image.jpg

Maybe not wages but I do think location is a big factor along with your very good reputation which to be fair you've worked hard to gain.

Good luck to Nathan Bryne, decent player but just didn't click for him at Wolves.

Also Ethan Ebanks-Landell gone on loan to Sheff Utd.

Just the two for us.

On the verge of confirming Atsu and awaiting the French sloth to pack his bags for Champions League football (I mean Everton). After this we'll have recouped £65M off two player sales to Merseyside - genuinely incredible stuff.

We are desperate for another winger who offers something different, £7M may be high but that's the going rate seemingly. Boro fans seem to rate him, can't say I've seen him play all that often, what kind of winger is he? If he can beat a man that would be great.

Not quite his Real Madrid dream, eh? Have a feeling he'll be staying put unfortunately.

He played all over the place for us, wing back, winger and behind a lone front man. Would probably say the best I seen him play was at Wolves away and that was in a bit of a free role behind the striker. Not the quickest player, all left foot but got a good touch and hardworking. Good player but worth nowhere near 7m.

He won't be costing 7m

Sounds like you were crying out for a winger like Cavaleiro, he would have been the exact sort of player you need.
