Hughes always seemed to be a bit overrated by the Derby lot.

On the limited occasions that I watched him on TV and playing against Saints he just didn't seem to do anything apart from keep possession, which became old after Josh McEachran was once hailed for the same while breaking through at Chelsea.

On the limited occasions that I watched him on TV and playing against Saints he just didn't seem to do anything apart from keep possession, which became old after Josh McEachran was once hailed for the same while breaking through at Chelsea.

What club doesn't over-rate their own players Harv? Especially one that's come through the academy.

I think he'll fare better in the PL with better players around him so I'm looking forward to seeing his progress if he goes. He's in danger of stagnating here, he's playing on a different wave length to our lot at times.

As for the fee, not happy but as mentioned elsewhere his stock is at its lowest since breaking through at 17. Pretty much spent 15/16 on the sidelines with injury and last year he was in and out, probably not helped by the manager see-saw situation.

It'll be 10 plus eventually and I imagine we'll have a decent sell on fee too. Not the worst IMO, the initial 5 million bid was.

All comes down to luck really, Jeff Hendrick was probably worth 3/4 million until the Euro's, ended up going for nearly three times as much. Will hasn't had much luck in the last couple of years, he's a very good player though.

I think he could do with a change of scenery, a bit of fresh impetus, he seems to be stagnating a little at Derby. Still the most impressive individual performance I've ever seen at this level when he came to the Gate a few years ago as an 18/19 year old and utterly ran the show

There's many different fees being mentioned around for Hughes, but I've got to take hope that the club isn't run by people that prefer eating crayons to food.

I've been one of his biggest critics in the past year. He is a tidy player, but he goes through games without doing much despite having the ability to turn a game on it's head. I would have been open to selling him, as it looks like we are. The problem I have is with the fee. Aside from the ever-injured Thorne, he's our best central midfielder still, regardless of his form, and will need replacing. I just don't have any faith whatsoever to replace him.

I just can't get my head around getting £10.5m for Hendrick, but potentially (at the lowest) £4.5m for Hughes. Hughes at his very, very worse is still a better player all-round than Jeff Hendrick for christ sake!!
