Weimann all agreed with club and player. Supposedly waiting for him to return from holiday to sign the contract.

Ince getting close. Second bid going in for Shackell soon.

And according to Nixon, we're also after the following on top of the above...

Right back [couple of options] ... centre half [alternative] ... target man [long list] ... and poss wild card.

Rammy, can you please tell me when the THIRD bid for Shackell will be going in?......and then the FOURTH?:))

As an aside, Burnley are reported to have put in an initial bid for Villa right-back Matt Lowton.

Oh, we'll keep going until we get him if Shackell wants to come and starts handing in transfer requests. Same way we did with George Thorne.

Not a bad deal, certainly gives up more options up front and he must have some ability so pleasing overall

Hope that makes Russell available
Shouldn't do, we'd have 2 wingers if he signed, 3 if you count Dawkins but he can't play wing. Should be 3 soon enough provided we also sign Ince, but we can't run the whole season on 2 wingers I'd imagine

Surely you have to sell some people, your wage bill must blow nearly every team out of the water. Don't mean to sound like Lancy but there is no way you'll pass FFP with the amount you've spent without balancing the books .

FFP wouldn't do anything even if you did fail it mind.

I really don't see the point in FFP this year. Seems like this season is almost a freebie.

Rules are that this season you can only lose £2m. Next season is the start of the £39m over 3 years.

Rules also state that if you fail FFP and fail promotion then you get a transfer embargo up until the time you can pass FFP again. So as long as you fail FFP by less than £13m this year I can't see an embargo sticking?

Talking of Lancy, he appeared on one of our forums earlier...

If Burnley are so crap and a "C" list club as you say, can you or any other Rams fan tell me why the Clarets have taken 26 points out of a possible 30 against Derby, scoring 21 with only 6 against?

Burnley tickle the Rams stomachs and they just roll over.

Interesting to see how Derby go on this season - it looks like "sh*t or bust" - a bit like when Leicester had Eriksen as manager.

As for Shackell, he has given Burnley three great seasons (probably the best 3 of his career and he will probably never play better than LAST season against some of the world's best strikers) so he should get a better new contract, but if he does leave - he is too good for Derby and should go to someone like Norwich, Watford or Bournemouth - maybe even Sunderland, Villa or Newcastle.

PS: Shacks may well fancy a move to Derby but I am not so sure his brand-new Texan wife fancies a move from her "dream house in picturesque surroundings" after she has spent the last 12 months "doing it up to her tastes".

If she wants to stay, it could be a daily four-hour round-trip commute to Derby and back for training etc. And all that driving for 9 months won't keep Shackell at his 100% sharpest.

He and his 'brand new Texan wife' would rather decorate their new 'dream house' in Burnley than move to Derby.

FFP only seems to apply to Reading. The Reading board like it as they can always use it as an excuse when we don't bring anybody in.Besides the club need a new sewing kit to put the Thai logo on our new home and away kit.

Seems to be the social media opinion by Reading fans.:ffs:

Where as in truth, it only seems to apply to us because we're one of the clubs in the most shit financially. Just have to look at our finances. Top 3 wage budget for a team finishing 19th, about to lose £10m worth of parachute payments - The steps that the club are making are right financially.

Fans complaining that we're cutting costs and ensuring the club has a future. The same fans would complain if we spent went into administration/liquidation, or even just had a transfer embargo.

Weimann now confirmed!

I know there's no guarantees in football but he's a hell of a signing for a Championship club. I just hope he does the business now.

My post was tongue in cheek and slightly sarcastic.:ffs: Look i can put one of those in as well. For the record i am fully aware of the mess the Russian left us in and am not expecting us to go over board with our spending on incoming players.

I am also talking about us since Madejski has been with us where we have always been careful in spending money which can be a good thing unlike Anton who wasted it on giving players like Pog high wages.

I see Anton has also done a runner from the Russian ice hockey club he owned.

How can you say we won't when the rules haven't even been released yet?

I think you'd be surprised how many clubs are up there with big wages, there's obviously been an increase from us in the last year or so which doesn't reflect from the latest set of accounts but do you think the likes of; Bolton, Blackburn, Cardiff, Fulham, Forest and then the obvious 3 that have just come down have small wage bills? Even "fairy tale" Bournemouth had a whack of a wage bill at this level.

I've said it a few times in this thread as we keep creeping up but it's no surprise this approach has come parallel with the FFP rule change, we've cut costs and rebuilt like most clubs for the past 7 years to make sure we pass FFP year in year out. Yourselves are in good nick financially from an outsider looking in but there's plenty of clubs at this level who are much deeper in the shit than we are.

Charlton fans, talk to me.

Joe Gomez who you're about to sell to Liverpool. Apparently we're one of the clubs he may go out on loan to.

Would he not go back to Charlton if he came down again? Genuine question. Is he way too good for them currently?

Derby will make third Shackell bid when Derbyshire County Council have worked out how to build a luxury house big enough for his Texan luxury wife to keep her in the luxury to which she has become luxuriously used to in Burnley. Without discovering how people lead such a luxurious lifestyle in Burnley, there's really no hope for anyone.

Gomez is a great talent, who I rate highly from what I've seen. I just don't see where he would fit in at Derby.

I'm not saying he wouldn't get game time, because he would. I just can't see him being a first pick choice outright - especially at CB.

I wouldn't moan if he came here, I just don't think it would be good for his development. I'd prefer him to Shotton, but he is going to be tough to move on.

Fulham making bids of almost everyone.

No disrespect to Fulham fans, but who the fuck are Fulham?

I believe they are a football club who play in Putney, West London.I could be wrong though. They may be a rowing club in Mortlake.

I'm just looking at it from a common sense point of view more than anything.

Before all these signings you had a very large wage bill for this level. I would guess that Martin, Bryson, Hughes, Hendrick, Keogh were all on 15k+ and with Bent, Weimann, Albentosa, Pearce and possibly Ince coming in then it's going onto astronomical levels. I know being a Derby fan you will defend your finances, but surely paying those sort of wages cannot be sustainable for a 2nd tier club without selling people. If you are able to get away with it then everything regarding FFP is truly flawed.

Bristol City have a billionaire chairman, he may aswell say fuck it and spend 50+mill to get to them Premier League. I've said it before, QPR have set the benchmark and now clubs are just exposing every weakness of FFP, sometimes I wonder why we don't do it either when you see clubs like Derby getting away with it.

Last season our wage bill was just above mid-table, unless our CEO was lying.

Based on the last published finances, there were still clubs paying nearly double the amount on wages than us.

We lost £7m - I think Forest closer to £25m for example.

Now the rules have apparently been relaxed, I suppose we've got quite a bit of head room. The CEO and chairman have said that we're going to stay within FFP guidelines, so I would imagine we will. I'm not saying we're doing it on a shoestring, but I'll eat my hat if we're the highest paying side in the division next season.
