If some of the rumours are true and Shackell is agitating for a move (at nearly 32 years old, I cannot blame him for wanting one last big payday to keep him and his brand-new Texan wife in a life of luxury), I'm just wondering what sort of mega-deal Derby are tempting him with?

Given that he joined Burnley from Derby in 2012 on £15,000-a-week, received a 50% pay rise after Burnley were promoted and gets extra money for being captain, Shackell cannot be on much less than £25,000-a-week at Turf Moor.

In my eyes, the Rams must be offering him at least £30,000-a-week over probably three years - maybe even more as he will probably be facing a daily 4-hour round-trip commute to training. Jason might find it difficult to persuade his rich American partner to give up "the dream home" they moved into about a year ago and a house she has spent hours and hours designing and decorating to her own taste.

Shackell may well leave soon but Alan Nixon, the Sun journo who gets a lot of things right like the Stuart Gray sacking, has indicated that the Burnley board are quite prepared to play "hard ball" with both Shackell and the Rams - especially after they messed us about in the "Bryson Saga" last summer. Burnley activated a £750k release clause for Bryson and the player was offered £20k a week after talks at Turf Moor, but went back to Derby, told them about Burnley's wage offer which the Rams then "matched" but with a deal for 5 years instead of Burnley's 3.:bg:

How did we mess you about? You made an offer which activated a clause, that doesn't mean the player has to be sold, it means their is an option to be released from his contract for £750k, if the player wishes.
We simply counted your offer. Last summers "saga" or not, I'd expect you to play hard ball as you do not want to see good players leave, like us with Bryson.

... to keep him and his brand-new Texan wife in a life of luxury....

Oh stop!!!! Please stop!!!! I'm dying here!!!!!:fl::fl::lol::lol::bg::fl:

No. No. No more...... I'm hurting!

Absolutely brillant. :brill:

"Burnley"..... "Life of luxury"..... "Dream home"....... :woot::woot::woo::fl::fl:

Yes, those are the EXACT reasons Shackell gave for moving to Burnley in the first place. Luxury and dream homes are, alas, the two things the rest of the kingdom just cannot provide.

If there was a Nobel Prize for Comedy, you'd be up there on some distant Swedish stage, holding the little gold coin aloft with a copy of the Burnley Express and a postcard of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. Now is there some little emoji for wiping my eyes dry?

He lives in the farmhouse in the middle of the M62, at a guess.

Luckily Grayson is looking to bring in a bit of youth we already have super kevin davies who boosts the average age of our squad quite significantly although he hasn't been offered a new deal yet, id be looking to sign Darikwa or Nathan Byrne we are also linked with Nick Powell although I don't believe we will sign him in the slightest :bl:

Davies has done well for us but he would be a waste of a wage at this level, you can't earn a contract just because you're a good bloke to have around the place.

I'd love to sign Darikwa, thought he looked class for Chesterfield, looks more defensively solid than Byrne too.

Apparently Darikwa is off to Leeds. Where the owner wants him and the manager doesn't.

It's always a good move :2thumb:

Is there a roll call list for this league like there was in League One?

I like how Lancy knows everything from Jason Shackell's exact annual income, to his 'hot Texan wife' to who gets to do the decorating at their new 24 bedroom mansion

Are you a stalker by any chance?

Sam Ricketts released. Very sad to see him go. He will definitely be a big asset to any club. He's the kind of player that a L1 or L2 club could build an entire team around. Hope he goes to a decent club. Aww, bless. I feel like I'm saying goodbye to an old faithful lurcher. I need to man up.

QPR, Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Blackpool are the four clubs battling to sign out-of-contract midfielder Jamie O’Hara this summer, according to London 24.
O’Hara’s short-term contract at Blackpool ended earlier this summer and the midfielder is assessing his options.

I have no idea who that is or what it's supposed to mean in this context.

You hadn't linked the thread when I quoted you :dis:
I had, you can see that I didn't edit the post. Although that's the second time that's happened to me in the last couple of days, clearly I need to rethink my linking strategy.

Kevin Davies looks to be staying on as a player/ youth coach.

No real feelings about that to be honest, seems to be a great influence behind the scenes going off what other players have said and he can still do a job coming on in the last 10 minutes, holding it up, buying free-kicks, defending set pieces, etc...

I think he's played a big part in the way Garner has adapted his game and I think he will be of benefit to Hugill's development too. So it's probably a good move.

Charlton midfielder Christophe Lepoint, 30, has left the club after only five months to join SV Zulte Waregem in his native Belgium for an undisclosed fee.
He has been one of the better players in my native league. But is not good enough to make things happen in a big league.
