Good that we've got him tied down for 3 years, 2 year deal and we'd be going through it again next summer. Hopefully get Gallagher and Johnstone announced in the next couple of days too.

Burnley have rejected our £2m offer for Jason Shackell. I expect us to go back in with a second bid, probably the same amount but more up front.

I'd hold back before getting excited yet Preston fans. Grayson has a tendancy of forgetting about strengthening a defence once promoted..

Didn't have any problems when he was managing the lashers or Leeds. We've already got 3 good centre halves and a couple of full backs are a priority. All we've done so far is kept last seasons squad together, but we have enough more than money to bring in some quality to add to what we already have.

Does Dyche still want Keogh or Bryson? Swap deal? ;)

Not heard anything to that effect. But if it means us losing Shackell I'd like to think we've got the sense to say no.

After losing Ings and seemingly Trippier, we can't afford to lose another key player.

His priority seems to be brand new full backs, we only have one senior one at the moment.

I think Wright and Clarke will do ok at this level, unsure about Huntington as a regular, i'd hope we have our eye on a pacier option though.

Pretty happy with the noises he's making at present, been quite ruthless in letting 6 go and seemingly telling 2 others they would be back-up who opted to go elsewhere. Time will tell.

Nice to see some movement, Johnstone should be next, deals done.

Yeah Gallagher is pretty vital to this team so glad we've got him tied down, was worried he would go elsewhere for a second.

Joint top in the L1 assist charts with 18 as well as 13 goals in all competitions, he's done the business at this level before too.

I think he's more or less kept the right players on, I'd have liked to have kept Laird and Stuckmann but neither would have been good enough to be first choice. From the sounds of things Grayson's been given a big budget so I'd expect a couple of top quality fullbacks, Gallagher's on £20k a week and Johnstone will be on £15k when he signs, if we can afford that for them then I'm sure we'll strengthen well.

There is no way Gallagher is earning £20k a week here, not even half that, that's what he was on at Leicester.

Agree with the rest of the post though.

See Fulham's Patrick Roberts is joining Man City. Saw him play against Reading last season and he looked very promising.

Most Reading fans are too busy drinking Pimms and watching repeats of Little House on the Prairie rather than spending there time on the internet.

Back on topic looks like Jem Karacan will be off to Galatasary by the end of the week. Not overly disappointed about it. Good servant for the club and cannot begrudge him a move to his boyhood team.

Rumour that we are interested in John Eustace:ffs: Hopefully it is just a rumour.Would like to think we could do better than him although maybe we are going to turn the Madejski hotel into an old peoples home for footballers.

Luckily Grayson is looking to bring in a bit of youth we already have super kevin davies who boosts the average age of our squad quite significantly although he hasn't been offered a new deal yet, id be looking to sign Darikwa or Nathan Byrne we are also linked with Nick Powell although I don't believe we will sign him in the slightest :bl:

If some of the rumours are true and Shackell is agitating for a move (at nearly 32 years old, I cannot blame him for wanting one last big payday to keep him and his brand-new Texan wife in a life of luxury), I'm just wondering what sort of mega-deal Derby are tempting him with?

Given that he joined Burnley from Derby in 2012 on £15,000-a-week, received a 50% pay rise after Burnley were promoted and gets extra money for being captain, Shackell cannot be on much less than £25,000-a-week at Turf Moor.

In my eyes, the Rams must be offering him at least £30,000-a-week over probably three years - maybe even more as he will probably be facing a daily 4-hour round-trip commute to training. Jason might find it difficult to persuade his rich American partner to give up "the dream home" they moved into about a year ago and a house she has spent hours and hours designing and decorating to her own taste.

Shackell may well leave soon but Alan Nixon, the Sun journo who gets a lot of things right like the Stuart Gray sacking, has indicated that the Burnley board are quite prepared to play "hard ball" with both Shackell and the Rams - especially after they messed us about in the "Bryson Saga" last summer. Burnley activated a £750k release clause for Bryson and the player was offered £20k a week after talks at Turf Moor, but went back to Derby, told them about Burnley's wage offer which the Rams then "matched" but with a deal for 5 years instead of Burnley's 3.:bg:
