Charlton's Gomez officially gone to Liverpool for £3.5m.

Local journo has said that 3.5mil has come from the Liverpool end but is closer to 6mil plus add-ons.

Would be disgusted if we only took 3.5 for him.

Seems a lot for a player I've never heard of and doubt anyone else that doesn't support Charlton

Derby have some nerve. Going out and buying whoever they want, probably on massive wages.

How is this fair??
With all due respect, they haven't been given a £60M fine and stuck 2 fingers up to the FL, refused to pay it and then tried to wriggle out of it!
I have nothing against QPR per say but the way the R's have taken the piss out of FFP while others try to comply is plain wrong.

He was average in an average team last year. You're only as good as what's around you - and from what I've seen of him, he has the potential to be a very good Championship player.

Yes, I agree. Seen Pringle play three times now and was impressed each time. I think he's improving each season.

Although he came across as a bit of a comical figure when he was with us a few years back (2010-11), I see that Geoffrey Mujangi Bia has been doing well at Standard Liege. Wonder if he will appear back in the UK despite his earlier lack of success here? Remember him being quick and skilful if a little prone to losing the ball disastrously.

Ince and Bridcutt are the two players I wanted us to sign this summer so I'd be delighted to see them come in.

Bridcutt probably won't be as good as Thorne, but he's not injury prone at all and seems to be available every week. We need that, especially after what happened last season. We've got Hughes, Bryson and Hendrick in midfield who can all attack but without someone behind them to defend, it all becomes a bit inefficient. With Eustace in the side, we lost like four games over two years. With Thorne in the team, we've got like a 72% win record.

Bridcutt is ideal for the role we need. Ince is just an incredibly talented player - I'd back him to hit 20 goals next season if played in his ideal position.

Or had Harry Redknapp as their manager.

Whilst I agree with everything you say, I think his comment was more tongue in cheek... I hope so anyway

So Ince and Bridcutt seem to be imminent. And Alan Nixon has a "wildcard" in the paper tomorrow, which is also close.

This is mental.

Surely Will Hughes is going to balance out all of these costs?

Though sell him with a loan back and damn you'll have a good team.

We have to sell someone, surely. There's not really been any strong rumours regarding Hughes though, just the lazy Newcastle link. Liverpool have first option on him supposedly.

Hendrick has been strongly linked with Villa, for £5m. Nothing will happen there though, until their takeover is completed.

A few of our defenders will be off, but doubt we'd get much.

Martin and Hughes are the only two players I would be truly gutted about going this summer, and I don't think either will leave.

I imagine the ones who are almost sure to leave: Stephen Warnock, Ryan Shotton and Conor Sammon. Add maybe: Raul Albentosa and Simon Dawkins.

If a decent offer comes in, I can see: Richard Keogh, Jeff Hendrick, Johnny Russell and Craig Bryson leaving. However, I'd imagine any of these going would also be adequately replaced.

Strong rumour that Burnley have agreed a £1m deal for Villa full-back Matt Lowton, who is expected to have a medical on Monday. Suppose he would be Trippier's replacement.

Also, a rumour that Everton want Tom Heaton to replace goalkeeper Tim Howard, who might leave Goodison Park for family reasons.

Re: Joe Gomez.....any truth in rumours Derby will be taking him on loan from Liverpool?

Ince about done as well.

"It's all within FFP though, we have global revenue to challenge Barca and City. And it's not like McClaren handed out huge contracts last summer to keep our better players who will now sit on the bench"

Maybe I'm just jealous, they're building some squad.

C'mon Marky, it was only last season you spent like £8m in 2 days, dont get jealous now.
In all seriousness, I'm enjoying this. I'm still absolutely convinced our ownership group knows what its doing, we have been stringently managed financially for years, I'm sure they won't be gambling all that away on one seasons flutter on promotion. We all know spending big doesn't always bring instant success unless you have Jose in charge. Mel Morris doesn't strike me as any mug either, and he's a Derby fan too and will have the long term interest of the club at heart.

Come on Gary, I'm not jealous. I'll readily admit you've got a ridiculously good squad but I also have seen us build very good squads and still fail spectacularly. So I'm more looking on with intrigue.

I just find the attitudes of a lot of Derby fans quite amusing, because it is abundantly clear you are going for broke and you will be in the same shit as us in 12 months if it goes wrong.

Regarding our 8m last summer, this came days after Newcastle gave us 6m cash for the golden boys Darlow and Lascelles. Though we are still guilty of spending ludicrous money generally over recent years.

Going to be interesting I think. Personally, you should go up comfortably, as you have so many goals in that team and you will outscore most teams even if one or two players have a bad day.

We've held 'Advanced Talks' with Lee Camp apparently. Not sure how I feel about that - wanted a new number 1 really.

Good keeper is Camp. Unfortunately anything above his head (and he's shorter than 6ft) will go in. Wait till he gets lobbed by his 15th looping header of the season.

Oh and he's a c***

With him and Fielding Bristol City would probably have the smallest goalkeeping partnership in modern history

Stephen Quinn is the latest rumour.

Interesting. Wouldn't turn my nose up at him, but we have enough midfielders as it is. If you look back to the end of last season, players like Norwood and Akpan were barely featuring. The more urgent matter is the fact that we don't have a goalkeeper and I thought that would have taken priority.

If we can't get Chalobah, and Karacan is going than another midfielder wouldn't hurt.

As it looks like we only have three senior centremids next season (Williams, Norwood, Akpan) than another is probably needed. How many centremids did we have at the end of last season? Would also give the opportunity for Kuhl to get a decent 30+ appearance on loan rather than being a fringe player with us.

Goalkeeper is priority, but we can't afford to not improve the rest of the squad until waiting for after we've signed one. If anything I would prefer it this way round as we will have to sign a goalkeeper at some stage - and probably before pre-season starts in 2-3 weeks.

Clarke said yesterday on BBCRB that he wants this Summer at least 1 goalkeeper, 1 defender, 1 midfielder and 2 strikers. So we need to get round to signing some up soon, at least it looks like we are!

For fuck sake.

That's why I don't want Fielding in the Championship - he's too small, and has no real command of crosses or his area. He's a good shot stopper and as great character, but we need a bigger keeper.

We know how much of a c*** he is, he laughed when Gerken was going off injured against you a few years back.

Whilst it's quite clear we're splashing Mel's money about its the "Same shit as us" that digs at me.

Maybe I'm naive in trusting the people at the helm of my club as football owners have and will continue to be a reason why so many are fucked.

I've just got a confidence that between GSE, Mel Morris and Sam Rush we're not going to end up in shit loads of financial ruin like we have done before. Just a personal opinion.

I was half way through writing a big speil but I can't really be arsed, bottom line is I have faith in our owners who have ran our club very well since their purchase. Yourselves and Leeds who are under these embargoes, Blackburn worth a mention too, are ran by absolute clowns who have had plenty of well documented incidents in the media that aren't to be proud of and from an outsider looking in it's pretty easy to see why you are being punished.

Maybe we'll join you in a few years, who knows. Football init.
