He's a fine player, don't get me wrong but City spending £10M+? I just can't believe we can, or will, go that high.
That's a 'big club' / parachute payment club fee and we aren't either of those.
I was blown away when we spent £5.3M in the summer but £10M+? :eyes:
Good on PNE if they resist to be fair.

We were bidding £9m for strikers three years ago. We'll pay it if we want him that badly as we have the money atm.

There's a bloke called Cardy on our forum who usually seems to have his finger on the pulse. He and another poster are saying we've bid £14 MILLION POUNDS for someone! Absolutely insane if there is the slightest facet of truth in it but he has history of getting things right. :eyes:
The rumour peddlers are saying Afobe or Abraham but they've both got to be on silly wages, way too dear for us anyway.
WTF is going on? :sur:

Grow up, you're happy to fawn over Wolves side and they chuck that sort of money about. Lots of teams do at this level nowadays, you'd be happy if you started doing it and it brought success.

I hope wolves fail too but unfortunately they are not going too, it's completely breaking the rules what they are doing but won't matter because they will go up and yes If I was a wolves fan I wouldn't give a shit. If you do it within the rules fair enough, 14m for one player seems a hell of a lot for a club of you're stature though I want you to finish 7th anyway that means another spot is available.

Apart from the finishing 7th, I kind of agree with bm89, that's far too much £££ for us to spend! Yes, Lansdown can easily afford it but that's some serious wedge for City, especially with the wages a £14M player would demand.

What do you mean a club of our stature? We're getting 20,000 plus through the gate every week, Ashton Gate is booked for business events solidly 365 in advance and we've received some decent money for players recently. We could spent £30m on a striker and still comply with FFP regulations at the moment.

Yes, do you even know how FFP works? You have to make a loss of £39m over three years of accounts to face punishment, so if we spend £15m on a player we'd be nowhere near breaking the rules at all for fuck sake.

Just because a team doesn't break FFP rules doesn't mean it's right.

Any team in this league could spend £15m on a player but any team that does are fucking stupid.

Nixon saying we are preparing a bid for Alfredo Morelos from rangers. happy to admit I know fuck all about him but I doubt he will cost 14 million.

Personally I don't think he will be good enough from what I've seen of him he certainly won't be costing 14m. He scores about 1 in 2 in a far far shitter league than this, missed a couple of sitters too a Celtic the other week the tosser.

Abraham would easily cost £30m, no chance Chelsea will give him up for less than that.

Afobe would be a cracking signing. Maybe they mean £14m including wages?

Love Donaldinho, wish we’d been able to keep hold of him when we came up, but then again neither Hogan or Gray would have done so well.

Seems like times are moving on from spending £2.70 on ready made players.

Possibly MB, I'm just repeating what's been said on our forum by a poster that's been correct before. Personally, I think it's ridiculous. We've been linked with Alfredo Morelas from Rangers as well now. :tw:
As for the FFP stuff, I know our turnover has shot up post development, as yours will, with the non match day stuff, but I don't think it's gone to the levels where we can spend 8 figure fees.
I remain sceptical TBH.

Those days are long gone. The thing is, is these fees are being spent on players who aren't even ready made yet.

Give it a few years and we might win this league because every other team will have spent there way into oblivion, chasing the so called dream.

Maybe we're gonna go 4-2-4. Doesn't make much sense otherwise!

Bent and Martin will leave this window but we'll still have Nuge, Winnall and Jerome.

Ah yes, cos they have such a dearth of strikers.
Looking to get rid of Martin and Bent to be fair, though I don't think there's anything in this at all, no.

Gregory a different sort of player to those. If it happens, and I doubt it will, I imagine he would be deployed behind the strikers and to keep hold of the ball towards the end of games you're winning.

He was a fantastic servant for us, an unparalleled work rate, and carried us at times.

But I think he would have been behind Sam Gallagher, Vassell & Adams if he had stayed. Good to see him doing well, should get a great ovation at St. Andrews when he returns.
