You’re looking at Waghorn on a goal scoring stat but his overall worth to the squad is far greater than that. He made the majority of our attacking play which wouldn’t show in an obvious statistic. You’d look at key passes etc.

Without Waghorn (who is a vital part of our current spine, along with Bialkowski) we’d be in (more) trouble down the league. Staying up is worth far more than £5m when you consider the difference in money you’d receive from being in the Champ to League 1. If someone wanted a player who could compliment what they’ve already got, then £5m would be a lot for him, but for us, he’s a vital part for where we are right now, and that is worth far more than £5m to us.

We sold Webster for £4m roughly with add ons taking up to potentially £7m+! Was a rather strange one for me, would never have said he was worth that, considering his injury record

I seem to recall a price being put on McGoldrick that priced him out of a move and then he followed it up with injuries and poor performances for a couple of years. Didn't he recently leave on a free?

Yes, McGoldrick left on a free following countless injuries. At the time however, keeping him was the best option. We didn't lose out on £7m because he came on a free if I recall. What's the point in keep selling players because they have had a good season, when they could easily keep them at no extra cost (may be an increased wage if the player wanted so) and potentially have further improvements. Much less of a risk than selling for loads of money and replacing with someone not necessarily ready to step up.

I remember him playing in midfield but not right back, fair dos. You happy with the Harrison deal? Reportedly £750k rising to £1.25m, thought Ipswich might wait on the Waghorn deal but seems he's gone for talks already.

Not too fussed if I'm honest. I haven't been one of his bigger fans and had high hopes of him after his conference season but the following seasons in League 2 and 1 were poor IMO.

Good 4/5 months last season but I'm more than happy with 750K.

Tbf, a permanent move away could be what he needs to unlock the next level of his game. There is a talented player in there somewhere.

What's the point in taking £7m for a player a step above the rest of the squad when you can't guarantee you'll get an equally good replacement. You can't even go out and get a few players to improve the rest of the squad, as clubs will know you've got money to spend so would demand more money. Catch 22 there.

If it's viewed that he had a season that he could not replicate in the slightest, well that's just a pessimists view.

Pretty shit comparison, tbf mate. McGoldrick has always been prone to injury both before and after the Leicester bid, and whilst the club made a decision which most fans were happy with; it's difficult to relate that to a 28 year old Waghorn who has no relatable issues to date.

Fact of the matter his, his market value is above £5m as is our valuation, based on last season sure, but I couldn't really give a shit. The timing of a sale now sucks and his integral to what we do, and plan to do under Hurst this season. I'm optimistic about the prospect of him getting service from attack minded wingers driving at the back line.

So to sum up, £8m+ or jog on. I don't personally feel like anyone will meet that valuation before we kick off for the season, I just hope I'm right.

Hope so. Think the article says he has only a year left on his deal but the general consensus is that he has 2 years left which would add significant value.

He was at our fans’ forum tonight and was talking about how much he’s looking forward to this season with us but if a Championship club came in for him I’m sure he’d be off. Having said that I’m not convinced he’d cut it in the Championship as he’s not the most mobile, but he is a classy finisher. Would be a huge loss for us but I can’t imagine we’d accept less than £1M after seeing Eisa fetch that much.
