Reliable forum ITK reckons it’s £7m rising to £9m in clauses. Also says we’re negotiating with Sheffield United for Ryan Leonard, who we’ve been after for a couple of years but hasn’t hit it off at the Blades. Josh Morris also been mentioned, though I’m lukewarm about his ability to come in and make a difference.

Mad sums of money for a club of our size, though. More than treble the fee of our current outgoing transfer record.
Wilder's an odd bloke. Chased Leonard for ages and now he's signed him he doesn't want him.

He's basically a younger Dave Edwards. Lots of workrate but his ability is questionable. Can get away with it at Championship level.

He joined as a 22-year-old and made 36 starts for you over three seasons. If you want to ignore the fact that he has clearly made strides in his development playing consistently in a team that actually wanted him, that’s your prerogative, but it doesn’t have much basis in reality.

Don't blame you guys for asking for the fee - just surprised no one else was jumping at the chance to get Woods if this is the type of fee in this market.
Short term thinking, probably. Saville is a dynamic player who can score goals. Woods is a superior talent but someone you should build a team around and that takes time.

Plus, Saville had a year longer on his contract than Woods (I think?).

They seem to be splashing the cash now, so don’t need him. Leonard would be a good signing for us. He’ll be under less pressure for his place and I think the crowd would take him.

I’d be interested to see if he can keep the scoring up, he didn’t have a great or even ok record before joining you guys IIRC?

Think his scoring record is probably a testament to the chances you created last year rather than his own talent, but obviously haven’t watched him regularly for a few years.

He suits a certain style. I don’t think he’d be anywhere nearly as effective in a side who needed him to sit in the midfield and control the tempo. He’s a perfect fit for a direct, pressing side, though — most of his goals have come from late surging runs into the box. That’s probably why Pulis is so keen to sign him — I think he’s a very good fit for that Boro side.

I think you misunderstand, comparing him to Dave Edwards is a compliment. He is very good at this level. I think I've seen enough of him to know it is his limit though.

Splashing the cash? 4m spent with another 2m in January, about half what we got for 1 player, I'd hardly say were splashing the cash are we. Maybe wilder has realised he isn't good enough for this level and he's made a mistake signing him like he did with lee evans and Ricky Holmes. He hasn't really had a chance in the side to be honest but with coutts to come back he's no hope of getting in the team ahead of fleck,Norwood and coutts and we only play 2 of those.

Spot on, with his creepy fucking accent!!

He was Was born here, lived here until he went to, Southampton at an early age as far as I know, hes spent a fair bit of his life in the south and somehow has ended up with like a derby/Nottingham accent. Anyway his accent is about the least important thing about the bloke, sure plenty of you wish you had someone like him as manager.

Doesn't need to try to be one, he is one, been to many many games as a fan.

I know he is a Blade but he tries to act like a match going fan at times rather than a manager, like being shitted on the open topped coach, showing his inner Manor lad....

So we’ve taken Jordan Graham in on loan, Tilt seemingly to follow with a view to permanent and now linked with Jerome bizarrely!

Me too, although I think a lot of it is how shit we've been so far this season. I'm struggling to see the point anymore when the rumours are that our owner refuses to back the manager with who he wants.

Going to Leeds tonight but only because my brother wanted to, I'd happily have given it a miss. Didn't go to Derby either and not sure when my first league away game will be.
Shut up you silly twat football is class

Don't want Jerome anywhere near the club. We're 5 games in, if we're resorting to scum already then I worry.

Regardless of club connections I think the last season with us and Derby have shown that Jerome is past it. Would be a pretty awful signing for you.

I'd have agreed based on his first 5 months here but he absolutely tore it apart for the last month, he dragged us into the play offs. Most people were done with him but there's a few disappointed he's not been given a chance this season.

He's not getting any younger or quicker mind.

Will know more on the potential Jerome link at 1.30 at PH's press conference ahead of the derby this weekend.

Danny Batth is available for £100m if anyone wants a defender. Will have to be a big team though, he wont move to any old shit like Rotherham...

Villa fans - whats the low down on Andre' Green ? Looks like he played a bit last season and has featured for you already this year.

You know what I mean. Four mil on one player is significantly more than you were able to spend last season, whatever the reason. I think Leonard has been left by the wayside for a number of reasons, but you would think that a club of less than plentiful resources would hang on to and try to make the best of someone they only signed this January, indeed a player their manager had been after for years. So no, I don’t think Sheffield United are doing too badly on that front if they’re willing to let him go so soon.

From what I saw from him at Norwich it was his pace that made him a top striker at this level. People fail to apprieciate how quick he was. He could pull defensive apart with his great lateral movement and then use that pace to find a way in behind. Against the smarter and quicker Premier League defenders he always struggled.

He's not a natural finisher and his hold up play is actually quite poor. I think you could still use him as a defensive forward in the right system but I doubt you'll get the 15+ goal seasons out of him anymore.

Either way he's not exactly a signing I'd be getting excited about at this level anymore.

Feel bad for Leonard being shipped out of Blades. I said when he joined them he most likely wouldn't hit the ground running and would need time in the side which hasn't happened for him. No doubt if he is given time and a run in the side at Millwall he will flourish there, they have probably been after him as long as Blades were and Harris and Barrett know all about him first hand from his time here.

A Jon Walters return 8 years after his transfer, on loan now appears the more likely striker addition, much happier with this. At 34 I'm sure he can still do a job in the Championship. Rumoured to be moving along nicely.

Will mean much needed experience up top, and versatile options up front with Harrison, Jackson, Sears, Walters and Morris.

Hurst has confirmed an enquiry for Jerome though. Seemingly he's not interested though due to his affiliate with Norwich. :)
