Both Dack and Powell haven’t done anything in this league yet. Freeman destroyed the league when we were down there last, hes nothing more than an average championship player now.

The gulf between league 1 and the championship is huge.

It's really not that big. Even Burton managed to stay up in their first season. The money gap is huge, yes, but the quality gap doesn't even come close to matching up with that. Millwall and Sheff Utd both did fine in their first season back in the league last season, and Bolton stayed up despite being an actual clusterfuck of a club. All of Wigan, Rotherham and Blackburn have started solidly enough this year too.

On the Dack bids, I will admit that I was going on heresy that those bids had been reported - I wasn't aware it was the Sun that was reporting that number. Sky were reporting the £7 million rejection though.

I do find it interesting that generally speaking the people who are hyping Dack are the ones who've seen him play many times, while those doubting him are those who probably haven't. Just an observation.

But as it's neither a rumour nor a confirmed deal at this stage, I'll draw an end to things there I think!

I mean, that’s usually the case for every single player...

Sky Sports were reporting £5m turned down, and said that West Brom were expected to come back with another bid of £7m, but whether another bid actually happened or not was never reported.

Dack’s never had the chance up here, so might do well. Powell has had many chances before and has a lot of work to do to be successful at this level.

Since returning from a serious injury back in April 2017, Powell has played ten Championship games, half of them coming off from the bench in the second half as he wasn’t fit but we were desperate as we had nobody else who could win us a game. He’s scored eight goals. Already has three goals and three assists this season from midfield. He’ll win or at least be shortlisted for player of the year in the division if he plays a full season at this level fully fit I’m sure of that. He shouldn’t be in this division though, he should be in the Premier League and knocking on the England door for that number 10 role we so desperately need.

I’ve seen full internationals and Premier League winners pull on the Blue and White. I’d say Powell is the most talented I’ve ever seen when at his best. It’s just an absolute pleasure to watch him in full flow.

Give over

I assume we ignore the 1 goal in 15 or whatever before his "serious back injury".

Good player yes, footballing god no!

Nick Powell knocking on the England door?
Yep. England need a number 10 more than any other position. The best three English natural number 10s in the country off the top of my head are Maddison, Grealish and Powell. The only Premier League player of those three will be called up by the end of the year. If either of the other two were in the Premier League regularly, they’d also be knocking on the door.

Last time Powell was in the Premier League he was absolute dog shite, and never even came close to knocking on the door at Man Utd. I think you're massively underestimating the step up to the PL. Hell he's not even proven himself in the Championship yet. If I'm right all he has to show on his CV at this level is a relegation?

Stealing the limelight in League 1 doesn't necessarily make you a good player.

Even if what you’re saying is true, and you weren’t leaving out a bunch of other players, you’re still saying Powell is the 3rd best there, and so it’s unlikely he’d be fighting for a call up anyway?

Did he even steal the limelight in L1? Dack (who also plays number 10) won player of the year? Also happens to be English...

Think Sir Alex Ferguson and the boatload of clubs who have been trying to sign him over the past six months know better than you lot lads. I see him every week and stand by my opinion. This will be fun to revisit in the future.

He made two appearances for Ferguson and got injured for the rest of the season. He scored in one of those appearances (I was there). Proper shit that.

If he showed any sort of potential he wouldn't have been released.

Gotta be a wind up, if Nick Powell should be considered for England so should Adam Reach.

Brighton, Villa, Celtic, Leeds, Boro, Stoke, West Brom, Derby if reports are believed. Obviously it’s well documented that Brighton bid 10m back in January but Powell personally shunned the move.

League appearances.
Oh other competitions don't count, right.

And I can't find any 10m bid from Brighton, 3m yes but not 10m. You do seem to have a bit of a blind spot when it comes to the Greatest Showman Nick Powellinho

Who is Simon Stone? Someone with credibility or just another Wigan fan trying to drive up his pricetag?

With the exception of Brighton, none of those are in the PL...

Hardly helping your case that he’ll be knocking on the England door. All the clubs that sign players of that level of quality aren’t interested!

Some random blokes Twitter alreyt pal you've got me convinced .....

So why less than 9k home fans to see the Cheshire Pirlo....?
Random blokes Twitter, that’s a BBC Sport journalist based in the North West, proper random, almost as random as Rob Staton and Andy Giddings tweeting news on Sheff Wed.

Ah there it is, the crowd dig when you lose the argument. Shame that your massive away following contributed to you getting the square root of f*ck all when Nick Powell and co turned you over on the opening day.

What would you class Dele Alli or Lingard as if not a 10?

It wasn't a dig at your crowds I'm just wondered why you got sub 9k after a very good start to the season?

I had honestly never heard of Stone and he works for the Beeb, about as trustworthy as Jimmy Saville.

And just for clarity, Powell isn't that good and will be proven right over the season.
