Aye, you've got to look at the bigger picture.

The transformation of Brentford, in the past 8 years or so, has been nothing short of remarkable.

New stadium being built, exceptional scouting network, selling players on for £10m+ making huge profits on said players, being able to buy players for £2m+, competitive at Championship level etc

It's a fantastic business model at the moment, and has worked a treat.

As you say, fans of the bigger clubs need to understand the mindset of the fans of smaller clubs.

What a Brentford fan, or PNE fan is happy with, is obviously going to be different to that of a Leeds, Sheffield United etc fan.

We'll probably sell a couple of our best players in the summer. I'm not happy with it, but I understand that it's necessary if we want to continue building in future.

I do understand where BM is coming from, but he supports a big club, so probably doesn't fully understand the mentality of a supporter of a smaller club.

It's difficult to articulate, but I'm sure you get my point.
Cracking post.

Brentford want Ethan Pinnock. Can't see it not happening if a bid is accepted and knowing Barnsley he's probably got a minimum fee release clause in his contract somewhere. He won't be as easily replaced as Brad Potts or George Moncur so hopefully it's just a rumour.

It seems to be genuine interest according to the ITKs on our forum, but seems like the fee might be too expensive for our liking

After we played you at your place last season, me and my cousin both said he was best player on the park. He was outstanding that day.

Us and Sunderland after Keiffer Moore apparently... I’d take that as back up for Diedhiou. Decent rotational option.

It’s like a back street journo realised Lee Johnson managed Barnsley and that Barnsley have a striker with 14 league goals and he put 2 and 2 together and pulled a pineapple out his arse...

Barnsley sell anymore then can see the fans kicking off, they accept one a season (Potts) but losing Moore and/or Pinnock will cost them more than they get if they go up

Would be utterly disillusioned if we sell Pinnock.

Thas' more chance of Dudley
If we want him we’ll get him I’m sure. No idea where it’s come from though, read it in the Bristol Post earlier but they’ve been known to rehash info.

They sold 3 in January the other year and their fans were still content with winning the “4 points off the playoffs in January” trophy.

Like Gayle or Gray ;)
Haha, wouldn’t mind going for Gray again now. Doesn’t get much gametime at Watford does he?

You were in the same division at the time, looks like he made the right decision though given he’s now in a relegation scrap at the bottom of L1 a couple of years on.

Probably not, need a Gray or a Vydra type to give us a fighting chance though as I don’t think we have enough in our squad atm. Expect us to burn out just as we have done the last two seasons.

Don't think that will be your issue this year it'll be the timing of the LJ winless run

Like Allardyce, Curbishley etc they still mentally believe they're above managing a club in this league, clubs ranked 20-44 in the country, they cut their teeth here and have forgotten

SoutheySWFC this is more realistic and would be pretty decent. Blades seem get linked with him every window though.

it's the wages though, Blades paying the thick wedge of 30k for Madine means they're out unless Wilder is an hypocrite (he is). The boardroom shit going on they have is killing em, neither side will budge.

Yeah, not that they need a striker anyway unless Clarke leaves which is possible as he was left out of their squad today but I don’t want him to come here.

We paid £1.5m all in to have Diony here for half the season last year according to a bloke on our forum who’s usually pretty good, so we might be wary of paying the wages again but it’s less of a gamble when you know he’s more than capable in this league.

Bonatini is going to Greece now JJH
Quite happy we aren’t signing him, as I said last time it reeks of Diony last year signing an out of nick striker on big wages. Johnson said there’ve been a few strikers offered to them that they’ve had to weigh up, he’ll probably be one of them.

Suppose, he’s really injury prone as well. Villa’s recruitment is baffling at times, just came back from two ACL injuries and scored a few and they chucked the cheque book at him straight away.

Similar with Kodjia; did alright in his first season but nowt in the last two, more money than sense.

Thing is, and I don't blame Villa for it, the entire system now is fucked, SL can't put in what he wants, DC can't, the increasing parachute payment has fractured the market, average players are worth stupid amounts and paid daft coin and like us, you, Derby, Forest etc we are paying it for one shot at 100m plus. Our owner has said unless we raise cash we will be under a soft embargo but he added, and looking through some accounts filed, we won't be the only ones. He's cash rich but p&s isn't a level playing field, Stoke bang 50m down and how do you compete?

Agreed. The system needs reviewing, they introduced it to the game to try and create a more even playing field but it’s had the opposite impact. It’s a load of shite.

That's the point P&S should create a level playing field but Huddersfield, fucking Huddersfield are gonna come down with 90m banked for being wank and 40m as a sorry
