ALF shouldn't play second fiddle to anybody.

Consider his PL record too.

That's a fair point. His record intially in the PL doesn't look great but considering he didn't play the full match in most games, he had a decent record. At one point, he scored 5 goals in 69 minutes (over three matches).

So I take back calling him a third-tier player.....he could be very interesting. What went wrong for him at Cardiff then?

Style of play?

They didn't play him on a two upfront, he needs to play up top with a big man or someone who will do all the work.

Lee Evans is going out on a season long loan to a Championship or League 1 club in the next couple of days according to our twitter feed.

Oh and Jack Price has signed a new 3 year contract, which makes the Conor Coady transfer even more strange.

Big striker signing today.

Derbyshire for Tavernier deal on table.

Given Tavernier has been in L1 promotion teams two years running, you'd think that Wigan might want to hang on to him.

"Big striker signing today? Derbyshire for Tavernier deal on table." Would seem to be a big striker signing indeed. Only not for you.

You know, the Coady signing is SO weird that I have wondered if the whole KM to Fulham saga may be genuine....and maybe all the tributes to McDonald have been about pumping up the price. Maybe KJ and KM have fallen out. I admit I simply cannot understand it but stranger things have happened in football. Ask Sepp Blatter.

I've got a horrible feeling it'll be Matt Smith or that useless c*** Revell. (Big striker meant as in a big c*** upfront, not name).

It'd be a travesty swapping Tavernier for Derbyshire. Wigan's want for Derbyshire must outweigh their need for Tavernier.

Another outgoing maybe for us today probably Newton or Loach who are transfer listed.

I fear this scenario too. KJ keeps bigging up McDonald though, but I wonder why it is taking him and Stearman so long to sort out a contract extention.. providing they were offered one. I hope it's just down to KJ wanting to add more competition for the holding midfield role, since McDonald and Price weren't really challenged last season.

£1.5M for Matt Derbyshire? Makes the money we got for Antonio look pathetic.

90% sure my mates on a wind up and we're signing Halford.

Unless it's Halford + a striker.

Or we're planning on playing him as a striker which would be mental.

I'd be pleased with Ross Wallace, good crosser of the ball which we haven't had in years. We're desperate for wingers too if Caravlhal does favour a 4-3-3.

Marco Matias is another name we're being linked with, winger who plays for Nacional in the top flight in Portugal, scored 17 goals from out wide last season. Looks like he's got some quality and would probably cost peanuts.

Danny Batth, Richard Stearman, Dominic Iorfa and Benik Afobe not being chased by Rotherham, Wigan or Fulham.

It feels like its easier and quicker for each club to just list the players not signing for these three clubs right now.

I posted the Vossen deal sealed a couple of hours ago on Page 78.

£2.5 million fee and three-year deal .

Burnley are also set to get young Everton striker Chris Long and Liverpool's Jerome Sinclair on loan.

Was Long any good for Brentford last season?

Thrilled to see Elokobi return to Colchester, tbh. Feel that few players ever give as much as Big George. I remember him coming on after being away injured for a while and the entire stadium rose as one to cheer him back onto the pitch. Electric.

Tell you what, you'd never hear Elokobi be disrespectful to former clubs, managers, teammates, fans.

And he's not named after a fucking snack, either.

I actually know this guy believe it or not, I played football with him 2 years ago. I work with a Portuguese guy who is his step brother. He came over for a couple of weeks to try and find a club in England back then but it didn't work out for him.

His career has really excelled since then, and was the 3rd highest scorer in the Portuguese League, a couple behind Jackson Martinez. A lot of people are disappointed that he hasn't had more international caps, and are blaming it on the fact its only because he plays for Nacional and not one of the big 3 in Benfica, Sporting Lisbon or FC Porto. Nice down to earth guy too, would be a great signing if you can pull it off.
