Yep agree, post January they were very strong. Austin seems to fit there so they have a goal scorer too. Early “dark horses” for a strong season and playoff run I think

A random Birmingham fan on twitter has said we’ve agreed a season loan for Odin Bailey. Would be very pleased with that if true.

Any other Birmingham fans heard this?

Good luck finding one mate! If you want views from Luton (who would! Ha!) or Preston then come up here, any other club you’ll have more luck on club forums etc. This place is dead for championship talk im afraid.

Or Barnsley (who are shite) - apologies for forgetting Craig

I can’t seem to even find a decent forum for them. League one also pretty dead compared to league two!!

Small Heath Alliance is the one I think.

Yep we’ve even lost the Norwich lot from last season and super horns who I will somewhat begrudgingly admit given his particular affiliation (or affliction from our perspective ha!) was a good poster.

First bit of business for us....

Andi Weimann agrees a new deal. 3 years. Still only 29 so not exactly past it, but he did have a bad injury last season (like the rest of em!).

There’s rumours our end that Matty James is a done deal too. I can understand this one with the Pearson link.

Can't believe Matty James is still only 29, we had him on loan in 2010.

Sheff Wednesday's Urhoghide is still on our radar it seems, rejected their contract.

Him, Olosunde & Brown would be good business imo but North End getting that business finalised is another matter.

Class player. Still raw but he has all the attributes to make a top defender. He does get caught out positionally but he’s only 20 and usually gets himself out of it with how quick and strong he is.

There was rumoured interest from Leeds and Palace as well as Club Brugge and Sporting Lisbon.

PNE being pro-active for a change, giving professional deals to two 16yr olds who were being eyed up by bigger clubs.

One being my hero Youl Mawene's son, Noah and the other being Josh Seary who plays for Ireland U17s.

Ha, we've probably no chance then.

Randell Williams who left us at the end of the season signs for Hull City.

If he shows his quality from the 19/20 season he should do well for them. However, if he carries over his 20/21 form, he won’t last long in the championship

Add that to them signing Cannon who was released by Pompey and Moncur who was let go by Luton, then it's hard to see them doing much this season.

Luton took one of their first teamers off them too.

They could lose Wilks & Lewis-Potter yet.

In other news, Louis Moult signs for Burton and Josh Ginnelly signs for Hearts following their release from North End.

We have signed Cameron Jerome somewhat out of the blue.

Bit random but I guess he will be a back up/experienced partner for Adebayo but doesn’t exactly fit the “young” and hungry model we espoused before the window started but I think as an experienced back up it’s pretty good.

We’ve also now signed Henri Lansbury again somewhat out of the blue!

He’s been around for some time but I can’t say I actually know that much about him. See he was at Bristol City last year.

I was hoping he was going to stay but he's 34 and you obviously will pay him way more than we can. I can't begrudge him a final decent payday.

Certainly be more but probably not way more, we arent exactly flush by Championship standards. Its probably Championship football thats the draw. Id expect him to be a back up option to Adebayo id have thought and we wont be investing serious money into a back up 34 year old (or at least I would hope we wont be given we have other areas to fill!).

Seems like he had a decent season for you last season?

He’s been around for some time but I can’t say I actually know that much about him. See he was at Bristol City last year.

I'm not convinced he's the player for us, but would clearly liked to be proven wrong. He was a Premier League player last summer but wasn't part of Villa's 25 man squad. Chose not to go away and get another club. Hasn't pulled up trees at Bristol City either; a reputation as a bit of a prima donna. I suspect he won't be cheaper either... he was on £40,000 a week at Villa.

Has talent for sure and 4-5 years ago he would've been a top signing for anyone at this level. For me, it feels like he's a player on the way down in his career, although his experience (along with Jerome) is going to be vital in what has become a bit of a younger group of players.

As for Jerome, I think this is a shrewd signing even as a backup, but I fear we're still going to be short of goals if we don't sign another striker. I expect he will replace Hylton and/or Lee. But again, he's 35 in the Autumn but his trip to Turkey proves he's still hungry for success.

Our pre-season starts on the same day the fixtures come out (24 June) which I think is a bit early.

If Cranie, Mpanzu and Tunnicliffe sign their new deals, we would have 26 first teamers and with 2 less subs than last season, we would need to move a couple on.

Burke for Pearson
Campbell for Dewsbury-Hall
Lansbury for Moncur
Onyedinma for LuaLua
Jerome for Hylton?

I'd say that is strengthening overall.

I agree with you on Lansbury, I was expecting us to sign someone who was on the way up rather than someone like him really. Some decent midfield players out there I think who are younger than him, probably cheaper and have some resale potential which is the key thing for us this summer IMO.

Saw there was much fanfare from a few yesterday about him signing but it, someone even compared it to signing Shinnie when were in League 2 but it just feels a bit Jacob Butterfield 2.0 to me. The only signing so far though that ive not been totally bought in to be fair as agree with you Jerome seems a decent option.

All remains quiet on Pelly and Tunnicliffe I notice. Its probably still early to say but with Tunnicliffe for me its at the point where we have to look at moving on if he isnt all in on coming back. He isnt a good enough player to keep us hanging out here. Pelly obviously is a different story.

The S** is saying that Morecambe want £500,000 for Carlos Mendez-Gomes with the likes of Luton, Hull, Sunderland and Rangers wanting to sign him. For me, he's not worth that especially with a year to go on his contract. I would stretch to £300,000 but don't see the value, with the options we already have for going any higher.

Mendes-Gomes was a clear stand out at L2 level but not sure he'd have the end product to be a regular in the Championship.

Still young though so obviously worth a gamble for someone.

I reckon that he will move later in the window, with only a year to play with Morecambe will want to maximise what they can get. Reeks of Peterborough coming in and stumping up the cash they want to me, especially if someone takes a run at Dembele.
