@TommyBarrs: Name me one club in the championship right now who is bigger than Fulham over the last 15 years... let me tell you now, there's none. #ffc

We've been out of the top flight for 15 years and piss on Fulham in terms of club size as do most of the division.

Ah yeah. I am sure we can find one random on twitter from every club in here who says something ridiculous. (Don't make me do it)

Let me assure you that its not a shared view. Sheffield Wednesday are massive so are Leeds, Forest etc, we could go on but the "bigger club" debate is subjective and boring

Depends on what you class as bigger, but even so, that's a bizarre statement. I doubt anyone looks at Fulham and thinks they're a big club - not knocking them, but it's just not something you would associate with Fulham.

Possibly already noted, but who's this David Henen who might be headed towards Elland Road?
Any good? He's said to be 'exciting' yet he's 19 and been with four clubs, none of whom have played him.
Never really sure if these PL loan kids are worth it.

Looks like the Besar Halimi deal is off. Reportedly came to London for his medical, but ended up skipping it. Guess he wanted to talk to another club.

Hopefully announcing McEachran today or tomorrow.

If you get the right one then they can be, as seen with Wisdom, Ibe, Lingard and Bamford in the past.

Never heard of this David Henen and when I saw our name linked I had to laugh. I think he'd struggle to break into our under-21 side nevermind the first team.

Yeh that was my thought too. We've signed up some good youngsters and brought more through the academy, so I really don't see what these add. Admit the likes of Pritchard and Bamford have been excellent but I still prefer to 'own' the talent rather than rent it.

If he's better than Thorne and less injury prone then I would piggyback him around Europe to get him to sign for Derby. I genuinely cannot remember him to be honest but we dominated possession that game and I thought that was his game?

Thorne is our best player, when he's fit, for me so he's going to be some signing for Fulham if he joins.

Just seen he was Scottish too, after doing a bit of digging around, but hasn't been capped by the senior side. I'd guess that their national team hierarchy rate Bryson a touch higher based on that. Not that I'm disagreeing as I've never noticed him when he's played against us or on the tele so don't have much of an opinion.

To be honest it's hard to compare, as McDonald is a defensive midfield player for us rather than attacking. His best attribute for us is breaking up play and finding a killer pass out of nothing. It would be easier to compare against your own defensive mids.

I cant find stats for the tackle completion rates and pass completion rates for last season in the Championship sadly but he would no doubt be near the top of the board for them. The only meaningful stat that I can find for a defensive midfielder is the assists chart, to which he was the 6th highest in the league, and also higher than any Derby player.

Also he's been in a few of the Scotland squads of late, but never actually capped.

Make of that what you will

Just had a look at our three DMs from last season and McDonald.
Minutes per tackle: 1) Thorne (23.14) 2) Eustace (27.84) 3) Mascarell (32.88) 4) McDonald (41.51)
Minutes per interception: 1) Thorne (23.14) 2) Mascarell (28.34) 3) Eustace (55.68) 4) McDonald (58.96)
Minutes per key pass: 1) McDonald (57.3) 2) Mascarell (58.71) 3) Thorne (81) 4) Eustace (352.67)
Minutes per accurate pass: 1) Thorne (1.35) 2) McDonald (1.58) 3) Mascarell (1.82) 4) Eustace (2.29)
Minutes per ball recovery: 1) Thorne (7.04) 2) McDonald (9.79) 3) Mascarell (12.55) 4) Eustace (13.92)
Minutes per possession loss: 1) Eustace (10.58) 2) Thorne (5.4) 3) Mascarell (5.22) 4) McDonald (5.14)
Minutes per dual won: 1) Mascarell (13.37) 2) Thorne (13.5) 3) Eustace (15.11) 4) McDonald (16.88)
Minutes per touch: 1) Thorne (0.93) 2) McDonald (1.05) 3) Mascarell (1.09) 4) Eustace (1.53)

Makes for interesting reading:
Thorne wins five out of the eight. second twice. third once. last none.
McDonald wins one out of the eight. second three. third none. last four.
Eustace wins one out of the eight. second once. third twice. last four.
Mascarell wins one out of the eight. second. twice. third five. last none.

Didn't George Thorne play about three times last season?...

Stats in football rarely prove anything, as a sport, it's not straight forward enough compared to something like tennis or golf.

I love statistics but you need to give some context when using them. McDonald made 46 appearances, playing 4068 minutes. Those three combined made 40 appearances, playing 2868 minutes.

You're comparing a guy who played THREE games with one who played the whole season. Surely you can see there's a massive flaw in that.

We're after Alan Judge according to the Mirror
Would be delighted with that.

Maybe with McEachran signing and other midfielders linked Brentford view him as surplus to requirements?

I stand corrected, they're all better than McDonald :shut:

I don't think so, our new structure is geared towards having a bigger squad. We had a pretty small squad last season so these players we've signed are additions to the squad, not replacements for outgoing players.

Plus Judge is probably our best player imo so we would be mad to sell him. If we do though he won't come cheap at all.

Yeah, the stats are taken as read really. I know barely anything of McDonald but I just thought I'd compare to the three defensive midfielders we had.

As I said, McDonald is just someone that I've never took too much notice of, he seems decent though. If he is better than Thorne, as said, then we should be breaking our necks to sign him. He could well become our best midfielder.

Fair enough, doubt it'll happen then in that case. Shame, I'd love to have him here, rated him since his Notts C days.

Though in the post in the Mirror they brought up the 'Cotterill to Leicester' link, so it's probably bollocks anyway!

The thing is, George Thorne has played 48 domestic games in his career since making his debut in the 2009/10 season (or 5 years ago), which in all honesty isn't a great amount at all, as a comparison, Kevin McDonald played 46 just last season. I'm sure he has a lot of potential just like a lot of players in this division, but just as you say about McDonald, he seems 'bang on average' to me. The problem is he looks very, very injury prone, and filling the so called potential he has could be a big 'if' rather than 'when' scenario. I guess it's something we'll have to agree to disagree on.

We need cover for Thorne. I have no doubts ability wise, Thorne is our golden boy. Hughes is good, but Thorne has that something extra - unfortunately he has had two bad knee injuries. Ince could well be as good as Thorne for us, based on his 11 goals in 18 games, and obviously Martin runs them close.

I liked the look of Bridcutt, but it seems like we won't go down that route, so wouldn't mind us taking a look at McDonald based on what you've said.

I don't think we will find a player with Thorne's ability this summer - I said after his loan spell that I can't actually remember a player as influential as him. I counted 8 MOTM performances in his 12 games for us in the season we made the play-off final, including the Forest 5-0 games and Brighton 4-1.

A nice little video based on his loan spell.

It's a hard position to buy for but we need someone who can cover for Thorne. We have Baird now, but it remains to be seen where he plays.

Fulham confirm the free transfer signing of Jamie O’Hara on a one-year deal

Yes, we're gutted at that one. Our legendary cheerful cheekie chappie Mr Danielle Lloyd and his charming wife Danielle were part of our back-to-back relegations and I am sure he can add the same quality to Fulham's slide. Mr Lloyd successfully steered Blackpool to safety in a lower division last season, aided and abetted by Mr Darren "O'Dea, O'Dea" O'Dea, who - Fulham should note - is also available if fucking up your defence is as high a priority as fucking up the midfield.

I'm particularly keen to see if the Fulham faithful can come up with a better chant for O'Hara than our "Ten men! We'd rather play ten men!" which we sung for him at Brighton.

Just a thought, but while you're still sniffing around the Y-fronts of current and former Wolves players, do you need a big, solid defender who can hold his drink? Until three days later? Good in the air, better on the beach.
