I'm pretty sure Ayling had played that role before, and a lot of Yeovil fans I've spoke to couldn't actually tell me his best position. I've not once seem PC play there.

He was naturally a right back who occasionally filled in at CDM at Yeovil, from my understanding. Certainly didn't play centre back

Alan Browne has signed a new three year deal at North End, very happy with that.

Top prospect who will feature a fair bit for us this season I think, good all-round midfielder.

Good to see us getting our saleable assets tied down.

Wolves fans - Michael Jacobs. Good player at League 1? Linked to us

Very good player, he's decent in the Championship never mind L1. I would like to keep him but I think he'll be made available purely on the basis we have have too many midfielders and need to offload some.

Is he available to leave or still under contract. If it's the latter the rumour is rubbish we don't pay fees

He's got another 1 or 2 years left on his deal, I think we would loan him too. Apparently you wanted him to the back end of last season but he went on loan to Blackpool instead.

Bamba signed up, which is good. Still need more, although Pearson said we were close on 3-4 important signings about a week ago so hopefully we can soon look in a better position. A striker, another centre half and some pace on the wings and we'd have a decent team IF we keep the youth. If our midfield contains Byram, Cook and Mowatt come the end of the window then with the right additions, we should be capable of putting up a much bolder show this year.

Silvestri

Berardi
Bamba
New CB
Taylor

Cook
Mowatt
Murphy

Byram
New ST (or Erwin if he ends up good)
New winger

Would be reasonably happy with the likes of Antenucci and Sharp capable of filling in up top.

Leeds actually have a decent looking squad imo, it's weird how they don't even trouble the top half, does this Cellino bloke interfere that much?

I'd happily have Jacobs here. He'd be a top signing.

Off the field shit doesn't help and our squad was such a mish-mash last year - it's almost inevitable we'll be better this year (famous last words). Half our squad were random foreigners - which predictably some were good, some average and some a waste of time, and the rest were largely very young. This year we're streamlining things - I imagine some of the poor foreign signings will depart, the young players will have improved for last year and new signings can hopefully help take us to the next level.

If you look at a rough idea of our XI last year and their ages:

Silvestri (24)

Wootton (23)
Bamba (30)
Cooper (23)
Berardi (26)

Byram (21)
Cook (18)
Murphy (25)
Mowatt (20)
Taylor (21)

Sharp (29) - could be Morison or Antenucci too.

We're in a transition period with a young team. We do have good players - even on the bench - but it was just a bit messy last year. Think we'll see improvements this time around.

Isn't he an out and out winger? So if we don't change from 532 then he'd be sat on the bench most the season

He definitely filled in at times for Yeovil at CB. Not his usual position but he wasn't completely new to it. Can definitely remember Yeovil fans on OTIB suggesting he would be more than capable in that role. That said, PK may have done the same in the past.

So was Freeman when he signed.

Sunderland and WBA linked with 3-4 million rated Richard Keogh. Newcastle link has been rubbished, they're looking elsewhere.

I like Keogh, certainly not the top of my shit list like a lot of Derby fans but for that money he can go.

markwwfc1992 Greedy? Come on mate, give it a rest. These players are available to everyone, it was the same with the loan issue you had with us last year. Why does it matter what squad we build?
2CDM's, 3 CM's. Pretty reasonable to me.

Any idea how much Burnley are bidding for Paterson and how much Wolves will counter bid? Surely Forest will recoup their fee. He's young with great potential, just needs some confidence. If he gets a full season under his belt and gets confident, he will play in the Premier League one day. I'd rate him that highly.

Tomer Hemed, Israelian striker has joined from La Liga side Almeria, three-year deal for a fee in excess of €1m. Reunited with his best mate and national teammate Kayal. Sounds like a similar sort of player to Ulloa - hope he can have a similar impact, providing a focal point to get more from the likes of Baldock whilst perhaps threatening to score himself now and then.

Wait several weeks for a sniff of a signing and two promising looking ones come along in as many days. Feels like we're making progress now.

Surprised he came to the Championship, really good signing that.

Really? He only managed 2 goals in 24 games in the Spanish equivalent of the Championship the season before last, and aged 28 has only scored 10+ goals in a sezson twice (11 and 13)

I say that and we're desperate for strikers so he'd probably walk straight into our team..

Sounds like Reece James could be close to signing for us.

Would be very happy with that, desperate for a left back.

Has a corking set piece on him too.

According to the local journos on twitter, it seems that finally our owners have set our transfer budget for the Summer and some deals could be taking place..

Linked with Orlando Sa (Legia Warsaw), George Puscas (Inter Milan - loan), Paul McShane and Stephen Quinn (both Hull City free transfers).

Hopefully we can actually do something, was beginning to get worried seeing as pre-season starts next Monday and we have nothing. So far we don't even have a senior keeper for our pre-season fixtures that start in less than two weeks.

I like how we released this guy but offered a contract to Luke Clark...who rejected the offer, joined Accrington Stanley, got released and ended up at Witton Albion last season....

Cheers Westley.

Brentford have been tricked into signing a middle aged man who claims to be 22 :fl:.

Don't know how to post a picture of him but he looks like an older version of Shia Lebouef
