In a back 5 pace isn't everything you need, the above was the same description for Flint, but we play to his strengths, he clears nearly every long ball in and Ayling/Williams next to him are comfortable on the ball. If this story is true I could see Ayling moving out to RWB, given that Little isn't in contact training again yet.

Need to sign a striker desperately though Agard out for 6-8 weeks. From what I've read Brentford want £1m for Grigg, pay that, sign Tavernier (Rotherham supposedly bidding around £600k) and you'd still have around £750k of that £2.5m to play with.
I'd love to have Tav here. Always been a big fan of his.

Bjelland is hardly a complete unkown. A full international and he was captain of FC Twente in the Eredivisie.

Who are the other 2 you signed yesterday, the one with the ridiculously long name.

Anyway these random signings are either going to be class players and get you promoted or be a complete waste of time and get you relegated.

Don't Brentford employ someone as a performance analyst? So he's finding these players?

Wouldn't think the performance analyst would be the one doing the scouting, near enough every club has performance analysts, they cut and code the matches and deliver feedback is their main job.

Some good business for Reading there. A better season ahead for them perhaps?

The "random" players aren't likely to be starters though. The only player we've lost from last season is Pritchard. The signings so far, with the exception of Bjelland, are either young players we want to develop, or other players signed on free transfers who are a bit of a gamble, but won't cost us much if it doesn't work out.

Very happy with our business so far. Don't think we'll do much else unless players leave, probably a striker and an attacking mid.

Blimey, £2.5M? That would break our transfer record I think. It looks like we're going to do it at some point this summer!

They've given Ward a 4 year deal!

Their embargo is restricting them massively. They can't spend money, as they haven't sold anyone, which also means they can't get any U23's on a free transfer due to the tribunal fee. Literally all they can do is sign older free agents to replace those that have been released this summer.

The worse thing is, some of their fans (Not all) think Hobbs and Mills will be the best CB pairing in the league! Hobbs will be injured in under 10 games and Mills is just awful anyway.

Both pretty solid free signings.

Mills knows this league and is a head it and kick defender we have lacked since Morgan left.

Ward is a nuisance, pretty skillful and an eye for goal.

Neither of them are going to storm us up the league but for free transfers I don't think we could do much better.

You say that, but he didn't score since October, and only got 2 assists all season. He's also injury prone, so good luck for the next four years.

Also - if we could sell people to sign people then we would. As it is, any transfer fee can not be spent on new signings. Which is a blessing as we would have probably flogged Antonio by now.

We still have a few sellable assets and I'd let Lansbury go if someone comes in for £4m again. If we could reinvest that of course, which we can't, so we might as well keep him.

I thought you were allowed to spend a certain percentage of a sale?

Mate, hes a 29 year old freebie from Derby. He's hardly going to be a prolific goalscorer. 26 in 104 league games for an attacking player isn't a bad return. An upgrade on Mackie I'd suggest.

Stockhausen (local reporter) saying City have only enquired about Maguire and no idea where a £2.5m fee has come from

Yeah chairman Keith Dawe's said we've just made an enquiry and no formal bid after they indicated they didn't want to sell.

£2.5m is what they paid Sheff Utd for him so I guess that's where the figure has been plucked from

Can only assume we did bid then. He hasn't a clue what's going on.

The drink driver, not Dawe!

Looking at Hull's defence though: Dawson, Davies, Bruce, Chester - that's an impressive lineup for the Championship. Unless they sell a couple it's hard to see him breaking into that team, wouldn't be surprised to see him on the move at some point

Can't be much worse than last season. Probably our most underachieving season for about 15+ years.

Quinn and McShane are at least as good as Karacan and Pearce so we're certainly not any weaker. Signed a striker that will help improve our major problem so far in 2015 - scoring goals.

Until we have a new keeper i'm not sure how we'll get on, the main rumours have been Myhill and Foderingham. But, Reading have announced this afternoon that we have Al Habsi on trial with a view to signing him. If he's brought in as backup than I would take it, but I don't think he's good enough to be first choice.

We're probably 3 signings on top of that off being able to contest a playoff position.

McShane and Quinn would probably make the starting XIs of all but the top 5 or 6 Championship teams - so a couple of very good signings there.

Osborne gone on loan to Wimbledon for the season. Even more need for another CB now.
