Apparently Smithies is going to Cardiff for 4 million. I would be livid if that is the case. Not only is he bloody brilliant, but 4 million is way too little. He is too good for us and should be going for double that. Might not be worth it but his worth to us is about that. We have Lumley and Ingram coming through but not 100% sure they are near his level.

Huddersfield reportedly after Neal Maupay from us. Had his ups and downs with us last year, but 13 goals when Vibe was first choice for half the season, and he didn’t take any pens, is a pretty good return for your first season.

Lots of our fans would bite their hands off for any kind of profit. I’d want £7-8m with some add ons / sell ons on top, think he’ll be class one day.

Nah, unlike the 2 locals who are getting near the end of their contracts, flinty signed a new deal until 2021 thereby protecting the club.

As for new targets to replace him, don't hold your breath as mentioned above.

He came in and was very good on the ball, but of course, under McCarthy, this was wasted by long balls being trained into him.

Seriously though, I’d be disappointed if he left as I think he could potentially be vital for this season coming

Yeah, I imagine so. Can play out from the back and is probably one of our best prospects along with the likes of Dozzell, Downes etc- admittedly he is a fair way ahead of these in his development.

With us having already signed Chalobah, that may add weight to the link. I imagine he could probably move on for around £3-4m, though whether he would see Bristol City as a wise career move remains to be seen- I wouldn't like to say either way - but if you believe TWTD then you're ready to offer £4m and that would be enough for us to let him go.

Didn't realise Chalobah was a CB, I thought he played the same position as his brother.

£3-4m would be okay but it's hardly an upgrade on Flint, may as well have just kept him around if we're going to go through with this as it's not exactly like we need the cash with Reid and Bryan about to leave.

Imagine he'd come to us for the money if nowt else but if there are other clubs interested he won't come here. I'm not really fussed either way, I'd like to see us go all out and sign someone like Bartley; fed up of signing young players that will probably fold like the rest of ours do when we're trying to protect leads late on in games, we need some quality experience.
