Better the situation we find ourselves in now than running the club into the ground with debt by refusing to sell any of our players, and giving them overinflated wages.

Sawyers had one year left on his deal, we can’t afford to give him the wages another team can so he’s going to go within 12 months anyway, better to get £3m now we can invest in someone else.

I really don’t understand why so many fans struggle to get that?

What sort of player is he? We have a couple of numbers tens but are thin on the ground for pure pace and also physical strength up front (basically Grabban or nuttin)

Marquis is one of those players that defenders hate he bullies them. He isn’t a natural goal scorer which is strange as he’s scored 20+ in the last 3 seasons but should have scored more. Cost not sure between £1.5 and £3m as to likely he wants to play in the championship so I would say if you pay what we want and meet his wage demands it’s highly likely

I guess there is a fine line between just going for mid table and surviving and going for it. If I were a Brentford fan I would trust the recruitment strategy as it’s been brilliant. Frustrating that both you and Fulham have squads that will be in and around the play offs this year.

Pugh was pretty good at Bournemouth for a long time and will add experience to what seems to be a young team.

Kane has been at Blackburn and Hull on loan so their fans will know a bit but coming from Chelsea you'd hope he would be pretty decent....

Sounds like a couple of clubs have been getting close to our valuations for Maupay, Benrahma and Watkins - small possibility we lose all three this week.

If we did sell all three, current bids would make us £50-60m in total (depending on various add ons).

Replacements lined up but always harder to get them over the line when we’re suddenly flush with a lot more cash. Seems like Mbeumo is likely to join as soon as one is sold though.

We also had a deal agreed for Bola from Blackpool, but his agent backed out at the last second and he’s now likely to go to Boro.

Lots of sides can’t afford the wages of players. Look at Hugill, 36k a week at West Ham. The PL money along with FFP has killed the Championship transfer market.

Being linked with Isaac Vassell on a season long loan. Was still pretty raw when he left us i thought and has since been hampered by injury at Birmingham, but certainly fits the mould of the type of striker we might be looking for and his athleticism would be welcome I think. I think he played up top with collins the day we put Yeovil to the sword on the opening day 2 seasons ago they have played with each other before weirdly!

Don’t tend to be keen on loans really, but at this stage I think it’s the most likely market we are looking at.

I’m content that for the foreseeable future I’m unlikely to see my club go out of business. Something a lot of fans at this level with their billionaire owners just won’t understand.

Having been close to seeing this multiple times, I’m delighted that the club is on a safe footing.

The simple fact is that we just can’t afford to keep our best players and stay in business in this league. We can only pay the wages we do now because of transfer profits. If we didn’t sell, we’d just lose our squad eventually for nothing. I’m not happy about not having them, but I understand that it’s the right thing to do, and it’s 100% making us stronger long term.

Our wage bill is higher than it’s ever been, our transfer fees paid are much higher than they’ve ever been, all funded by transfer profits. We’re continuing to progress. If we’d taken the strategy you clamour for us to do, we’d probably have a bunch of debt and have a far worse squad.

The final point is that every time we’ve sold a player, we’ve replaced with better. We’d never have Maupay if we hadn’t sold Hogan. I trust the DoFs to do their job, as they’ve proven they can do countless times.

The personal stake I have is it makes my club stronger - genuinely can’t understand why you fail to see that.

He has a good record in the 2nd Spanish division, was also in the squad for the recent Euro under 21 Championships. He has a lot of interest in Spain but nobody over there can pay his wages (he's on 20k per week at ours). If you can offer him that he's yours.

Bonatini was pretty fucking poor for us last year. Looked like he hadn’t played football and missed an open goal on debut which probably didn’t help.

We’ve finished in the top 11 every single year, that’s essentially flirting with the play offs every year.

We’ve also spent more than any other Championship team this year, and hopefully aren’t done yet, that shows a lot of ambition.

The Benham comment shows how little you understand what it’s like to be a small club, or in the situation we’re in. We’ve made something like £20m transfer profit most years in the Championship, and have never made a profit overall. Benham’s not getting any money out of this. He’s still underwriting big losses. It’s a lot easier for wealthier clubs.

Wouldn’t call it a fire sale either - most comments from people on here say we do very well to get the fees we do.
