Wouldn’t mind seeing that penalty claim on Rodney from a different angle. Looks like it’s too much guessing there if the keeper got a touch for my money though.

Nice of the ref to give Orient more than 10 yards on our wall

Not saying that's a nailed on pen, but if Hornby covers Rodney he walks away with the WWF Hardcore title.

We came out of the traps quickly but since then it's been all Tranmere and on the face of it good value for their lead.

Vaughan knows all the tricks in the book but he is effective at what he does.

Still, I think we have enough about us to get back into the game, which couldn't be said a few weeks ago. Hopefully Tranmere haven't took full advantage after being well on top.

A fairly bruising game at Barrow, but we deservedly lead. Barrow do look dangerous, and we're certainly not comfortable - we'll need to capitalise on our posession if we're going to see this one out.

If this finishes without injury or a red card it'll be an achievement. Meanwhile, Scott Davies was goaded by the "socially distanced" Barrow boys behind the goal early on, which engaged his full shithouse mode. Full-on flashbacks to the National League :pmsl:

I’m just conditioning myself for my heart to sink when they announce 6 minutes stoppage time now...

I'm sure they were socially distanced when they were enjoying their substantial meals this afternoon.

0-0, more than happy with that. For the first time in a long time well done Vale.

Grinding one out like that will do a world of good.

Take that point and clean sheet. Two poor sides going forward today but we looked solid enough.

Considering the injuries I’d have snapped your hand off for that.

Fair result is that. Keeps our little unbeaten run going. Good luck for rest of the season, Vale.

Yep. I'd agree with that. Nobody really looked like scoring bar a couple of Bradford half chances. At least we looked a bit more solid. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Unfair to call it two points dropped, didn’t get enough shots in on goal despite controlling it on the whole. Don’t think we went for it from the bench later in a game having had so many crosses flash across the box. 0-0 an obvious score line given the pitch.

It was like a kids game at primary school with the ball control on the pitch in those conditions.

Hopefully we can both sort our shit out and be in a better place when we next meet.

Can't believe we've actually won that.

Kettle even tried to help Walsall out with a dodgy penalty but Howard saved it.

That's a fantastic win but yet again more injuries, our two fit strikers both having to go off injured.

FGR equalised with a thumping free kick from the edge of the box. Seems to have gone straight down the middle with our keeper waving at it but it was hit hard.

We dragged it around and went back ahead when Powell hit a long ball over the top of the centre half for Nichols to chest down a rifle into the bottom corner. FGR will be unhappy with the centre half. Our keeper then made a great save down to his right (hurt his hand in the process). As the game went on it was all FGR pressure without really troubling the keeper. A couple of breakaway chances for us. One where the FGR keeper almost made a hash of a shot from the half way line...I think he thought the ref was stopping play for an injury.

Last seconds. FGR keeper up for a corner. Breaks to our player (Frost) in the right back position. Keeper trys to foul him. Shoots from sixty yards. Race between ball and defender....defender clears the ball off the line!

1-2 full time.

Enjoyed that.

Biggins off for Barrow. It wasn't on camera, but it looked suspiciously like Barrow were trying to reduce us to 10 with a classic "tangle and collapse while holding the face" move, but in the end the ref gave a yellow to both players and Biggins had already been booked.

I could be wrong of course, I just like making stuff up.

Ps. I thought the FGR full back (?) Number 22 was quality all night.

A deserved 2-0 win for ourselves, much the better team overall throughout - I don't think Southend created a single clear cut chance whereas we looked the more threatening throughout and should've been ahead before we eventually took the lead.

A few complaints about how far back the wall was for the free kick, personally I didn't think anything was wrong with it, but I don't usually pay attention to those sorts of things, I thought Oxleys positioning could've been far better myself.

Plenty of endeavour and organisation from Southend, but they spent 70mins mainly sitting back and doubling up on our wide players and when they did change shape and try and push on, we punished them on the break, they also lost their discipline a bit at the end when our players starting winding them up and slowing the game down. A striker for them will no doubt be priority in the window, but I saw signs they could drag themselves out of trouble.

A much needed win for Ross Embleton after 3 losses in a row and a much better all round performance, we have a very tricky January lined up fixtures wise.

why are newport allowed to have such a shitty substandard pitch in the professional game? it's an absolute farce. every year they abandon games at short notice which leads to congestion later in the season. they need to sort it out to be honest.

One of the most boring games of football I’ve seen. 0-0 was quite predictable really. Askey is clearly aware of the pressure and it’s a matter of one more bad result and he’s gone because that was a very safe performance from vale.

Of course we take the positives, clean sheet was very important for the defence and the confidence! Impressed with Brisley, he always seems to be a steady player! Dropping Mills was also a good decision.

However, it’s still not good enough. Yes we have injuries, but the players who have filled in are ones Askey has signed so he can’t be using that as an excuse. We still can’t find a balance between defending and attacking, it’s either score 3 but risk conceding 4, or score 0 and risk conceding 1. Ive seen an article saying Conlon is a wanted man in January from sides in higher leagues. I fear if that happens then we are really in the shit as Whitehead is just awful, Burgess has been non existent all season and Oyleke can get you 5 games a season max!

I just hope that if Askey is sacked that it is done at a sensible time and not 2 days before the transfer market shuts

Anybody with insomnia watch a replay of Grimsby 0-0 Oldham it was that awful.

Still happy with a point though given Oldham’s excellent away form.

Grimsby Oldham and Port Vale with our fantastic defences all keeping clean sheets on the same night. :eyes:

Aye between us we’ve probably ruined a number of peoples both teams to score coupon.

No complaints, better side won even without Watters.

Our no.22 is Udoka Godwin-Malife btw, plays as an overlapping rcb in our back 3 and has broken into the side this year and excelled. Will be disappointed with being caught under the ball for Nicholls winner, but otherwise he's a player I expect to move up the leagues in the next couple of years.

Crawley came and had a right go, had 20 shots in the end which is very unusual at our place as a lot of teams sit back.
