We are running a second fan Zone for Plymouth fans Sunday so the car park on the front will have the away one which assume we are trialing ahead of having something similar next season (the away end next season cant serve alcohol as the catering is in view of the pitch.

Less than 1200 tickets left for the Bycars (not sure if that is inclusive of the capacity restriction so may actually be less) so could be a first total sell out in decades, we had a home sell out last season but the away end wasn't.

Got to be looking 12-13k on Sunday as looks like around 8000-9000 home fans 4000 away.
Plymouth also been given Tommy Cheadles social bar. The crowd won't be 12k to 13k be around 11k as there will be loads of season ticket holders that won't turn up and obviously we don't count them if they don't go the game whereas other clubs do.

Correct if we used the same formula as many clubs our average attendance would be over 9000!

Bank holiday last game of the season I think we should get 8k home fans? We’ve been getting well over 6k when we’ve been shite this season.

How many mk fans are coming Sunday for their biggest game ?
Surely 1000 at least.
Will be tough for you, but you never know you might turn up and really put in a shift to turn us over.
Bad news is - we have stopped conceding goals. 76 this season but only 3 goals in our last 5 games. We have learnt how to defend finally. Never thought I would say this but Dino deserves some credit - 9th in the form tables since he took over.
See what he can do in the summer.
Big game this - I’m going 2-1 us.

Cheers for reminding us...we have Grimsby again next season...they still haven't forgiven us for the beachball incident!

Good work. Will be a decent atmosphere then. Just don’t go all Grimsby on us if we send you down and smash the toilets up and kick the back of the stand in.
The anger on the day from most would be aimed at the players that have gotten us into this mess after such a positive year last year, I’d hope there wouldn’t actually be any vandalism, I think the only place I can think of that’s received that from us is AFC as a stupid retaliation for when they come to us.

I wish we did it to be honest. We sold over 6k season tickets, so with away fans and walk ups, we'd be doing 9-10k for the smaller matches and 13-14k for some of the bigger games, which are good attendances for this level (aside from the big clubs). I think it's attractive to potential signings.

Agreed. But out of curiosity, how do you know you’re getting 3-4k pay on the day of it’s not announced?

In no disrespect meant, but I didn’t think Vale had the support (right now) to be getting 9/10k attendances in your smaller matches. By saying that, you’re suggesting that 2-3k season ticket holders aren’t turning up per game? Seems far too high

i think a lot of the missing st holders are likely kids who got their ticket for free or next to nothing at least

We have the junior valiant which is around 2000 of the 6400 season ticket holders who pay £35.00 and get a home shirt with it but often don't attend all games (my daughter being a key example!) this is also why the "Sell outs" like Sunday still see a few empty seats and one of the reasons why we are limited to 80% (hence next season kids have to confirm before each game attendance).

Also explains the odd time we have had less home fans than season ticket holders in attendance, our lowest Saturday attendance in the league is 6200 for instance.

Ah that makes sense, so it’s more the slightly inflated ST sales rather than non-attendance. Good shout by the club on getting them to confirm, especially for the bigger games

Yep. Both my daughters have got a season ticket but they haven't been to a single game. Even so, we should still include them in the total, and then you are getting on for 9k if you factor in away support. We have a membership scheme whereby people can pick and choose their matches and receive a discount. I think pay on the day will be higher than it has been for a number of years. Our average home attendance this year will be nudging up to 8k, which isn't bad considering we were getting 3k crowds only about 4 or 5 years ago!

The magic number is 10k really. If we could consistently have crowds over 10k that would be good and then try and incrementally increase it like Plymouth have done. There's a significant pool of people who follow Vale but hardly ever go to games...we need to get them going regularly.

I’d personally say for all clubs the figure announced for people at the game should in fact be the number of people at the game.

Having a ticket but attending 0 fixtures in a season shouldn’t be a +1 on an attendance figure. For all clubs.

I didn’t realise teams do it consistently. Makes a mockery of some of the attendance stats we see on here really.

I don’t know why clubs include all ticket holders in their attendance figures, it’s just lazy. They didn’t attend so shouldn’t be counted in attendance figures.

If clubs are announcing tickets sold then fair enough. But not in attendance numbers.

Really good idea this as i know quite a few people were concerned as to where to get a pint beforehand. Pity the weather looks grim for Sunday

Weather looks ok for Burslem, 14c cloudy, you have the Vale Social on the car park and the bars on the fan zone (assume you cant use the away car park as that's the fan zone location).

The Home fan zone is going to be moved there next season when we have the away end as a home end so guess this is the trial of it!

I agree because it makes our attendance figure look smaller than other teams when we've actually got more fans in the ground than them consistently. I think we're 14th in attendance this year but if the attendances were actual figures we'd probably be near the top 10.

The majority of seats (probably 80-90%) in the block where I sit are held by season ticket holders, there have been quite a few games this season with a significant number of empty seats...which, as most non-season ticket seats tend to sell, means that people who have already paid for the whole season aren't attending games. I have a suspicion that attendances are always the number of seats sold for a game, even if that includes season ticket holders who aren't there.

Cheers mate. Any recommendations of where we can leave the mini bus in and around the ground?

I don’t know what they are doing as usually coaches and away cars park on the car park outside the away end but it’s got the fan zone for you guys on it, I believe Haywood Academy is taking a lot of the away traffic, the issue around Vale Park itself is whilst plenty of street parking it’s all right streets so might struggle with the mini bus.

Alternatively the large car park next to the ground is an option but again you’d want to pre book as it’s likely to sell out.

They are doing minibus parking for £15 (cars are a bonkers £7 these days!) on the official parking page which is probably your safest bet

This debate about including unused season tickets in attendance figures is weird - very few clubs will do so, if only because HMRC will want to see some evidence that the attendances correlate with the receipts declared for VAT when they do a VAT inspection.
I’m not aware of any clubs at League One level that do so.

Surely if ticket is sold VAT would be chargeable regardless of actual attendance?
